Personally, I hold to Septuagint premacy. Basically, I trust the Septuagint more than the masoretic text which is primarily collected by Jews in medieval times. We know that when the church was born, they used the Septuagint as of being the word of God. So I don't see how we could improve on that. It is known from the dead sea scrolls that they often times line up better with the Septuagint than the masoretic text. Furthermore, it is known that some parts are based on way older hebrew manuscripts which have not been preserved.
Therefore, the best strategy to go about it is the following: Whenever the Septuagint matches the masoretic text or some other hebrew manuscript, use the corresponding hebrew text and translate from there to the target language. Whenever the Septuagint does not match any hebrew manuscript, you translate directly from the Septuagint to the target language.
