What the actual fuck, that's crazy, I've been making avatars for 4 years now and this is the first time I saw this. Eye-opening. Great series btw, I'm consuming all the info xD
A good tip is if you use the smooth brush, go to the Screwdriver/Wrench icon (tool) on the right side and change Deformation from Laplacian to Surface. This will correct the UV grid lines without destorting or shrinking in the mesh
Hey, very helpful tutorial! I managed to do this on all but one piece of clothing which keeps showing "Target has concave polygons" error when trying to bind the surface deform. Any idea what that means and how to fix it? Thank you in advance to whomever replies :)
Im a bit confused, up until 2:46 I was following just fine, I clicked bind, and my bra moved with the bigger breasts shape key correctly, however, as soon I did everything you said after 3:17, it seems it's not working anymore. If I go to the body shape keys and drag the slider for bigger breasts, the bra is no longer moving with it like it was before. And if I drag the slider on the bra shape key, only the bra grows. How do I get them to move together again like they did at 2:32? Sorry if its a silly question. Just stuck on this one.
The shapekey you create with the modifier will be on the item, not the body. Then in unity when you animate, you will animate the item and the body at the same time. So look in your item shapekeys (not the body ones) and see if you have a new one there you created. Hope that helps!
@@AskAmberOfficial Ohhh ok I got it! Yes, I have the new shape key created. I know nothing about the unity side yet so I didn't realize that lol. Thanks so much! I cant wait for your next videos.
Hey there, question, I've added a beard to my avi and although it's attached to the head, it's not following the mouth movements. I followed this shapekey thing, but is this the method I should be using? Do I basically have to go through every shapekey on the mouth/face and turn each one to 1 individually to add them to the beard like u did the shirt? Or is there a faster way? EDIT: actually wait, i think doing the surface deform step by itself was enough? It seems to move with the face now when I move the face shapekeys.
I hate this. I just want to use the shape I WANT. I don't want to sell this avatar. I want to pump up what I want to pump up and set it and leave it. But NOOOO pose mode reset it all, so now my clothes don't fit after ALL that time I spent weight painting.
This took me 5 hours to find, google has failed me, you have not
THANK
YOU
I've been watching your tutorials for 3 years now, thank you boo

cause my shape keys, some of them effect multiple pieces of clothing, and there is multiple shape keys that effect a piece.
This is super neat but also such a pain ^^; it keeps glitching out on me
