- This is s video of me showing the first impressions of the Selmer Clavioline.
Manufactured in the early 1950's this instrument was also licensed to Selmer, a version was also created by Gibson and also a version by Jennings called the Univox.
This instrument claimed to be able to recreate any instrument through a combination of the the filter, vibrato and percussion switches.
This needs some contacts cleaning, keys repairing and a lot of capacitors changed.
This video is just showing the instrument and what is contained in this instrument and is not a guide to repair. Tube amplifiers can contain lethal voltages so please do not open one unless you have the knowledge and experience that these require to work on safely.
That is a ridiculously cool instrument. I can't wait to hear it after re-capping. I never would have guessed that it would have been designed to sit under an acoustic piano keyboard. It's like Rick Wakeman's first baby keyboard setup.
A very nicely presented video. I look forward to the next chapter!
Glad you enjoyed it! I will try and post more on this soon.
My goodnees Dean, this is rocking horse poo stuff! 🐴
Cant wait to hear how it comes along. I'd be interested in an in-depth observation of how each sound or effect is produced.
I should have something soon, I have got all the replacement caps in, just need to switch them over. I have got a list of all the instruments it claims to be able to make, it would be interested how guessable those are.
The Beatles used it in the title "Baby you're a rich man"
That is interesting, thank you for sharing that. Really cool to think the Beatles were using something like this. Thinking about it they really did push technology.
How are you get ting on with it Dean?
Hey Mark I have Just posted an update. I have got a User Manual, and repaired the power amp. It needs a few caps replacing the console, but its starting to be more functional.
