What a touching movie. I😢 cried... I loved what the mother said at end to her other son. As a mother myself I can feel every word God bless Bobby Earl. Thank you for sharing
Luckily you informed me about this film and after watching it I have to say a big thank you. Really good movie, great acting and directing. It's sad to think that it's a true story. Money is not the evil, we are.
Except the names listed at the end are not the real names of the killers or the victim. Apparently the killers' father was a Court Commissioner in the town of Tiltonsville, OH, so the names are kind of hidden. The killers were Edward Swiger, Jr and Michael Swiger. The young man they murdered was Roger "Butch" Pratt. One of the girls who drove Roger Pratt to be killed is Teresa Wakulchik. Lots of hiding of names. And "Chelsea Coates" is actually Linda Karlen, who is out of prison now.
What's good with true stories are that you show what really happened, they are facts,no one can't discount those, you are right, people are the real roots of pure evil, not money,it is use by men to do evil things
@@lous.6372 This is all correct. Edward Swiger is still in prison thank God. Michael Swiger claims he is now a born again Christian. As a Christian myself, I find him morally repugnant and disgusting. RIP Butch Pratt.

@norafrankie80's - Just a quick note of thanks. I was the Location Manager on this film and it was joy to be a part of this production. Ms. Jackson and all of the cast were fantastic, the crew worked beautifully together under the direction of Brad Wigor. I look back fondly on those days over 27 years ago. Never could we have guessed then about RUclips or streaming services which would bring this film to new audiences over the years. BTW, the family of the real "Bobby Earl" came to set to visit us during filming having given the producers their blessing to tell their son's tragic true tale. They showed us what true courage looked like and it was an honour to meet them. Thank you again for your kind comments.
such a sad story :( dad sums it up: "a man is measured by the company he keeps." poor bobby got involved with the wrong people, and what a wonderful actor Kate Jackson is.
I am happy for the scene at the end of the mum letting her older son know that she loved him. The real son, Michael Pratt, has been instrumental in making sure these scumbags have been held to account and based on what news articles say, it was he who was integral in getting parole denied for Michael Swiger a few times until he was ultimately released.
I remember watching this movie as a kid. The murder happened in Mercer County where I grew up. I was surprised it happened there because nothing ever happens there. It is a disturbing tale where a young man's head can be turned so easily by money and greed.

This was a Very good movie sad how even kids that were raised with good morals And knowledge of right and wrong can be led a stray with dreams of wealth And glamour it's good that he did that right thing in The end sadly it didn't save his life what' a terrible loss
When he was given a gift of a gun on front of his Mom in the frat college house, he should have ran for the hills & never looked back for he was in the presence of evil- the devil in action.
My sis was the golden child and my God rest her soul was not as sweet and humble about it. My brother was the oldest and couldn't do anything wrong. That is why there are issues now in my family. Happily, my sister is going to have twins my mom would be so proud. But it is going to be a little hard trying to be an aunt to my sister's kids. Nothing is her kid's fault. Maybe her babies will help our relationship. I hardly know my sister or my brother. I blamed my mom. My mom had cancer and she passed away. So we never got to patch anything up between us. My mom and I had a hard relationship I was the odd child and my sister could do no wrong. Any day now she will be having her kids. I am nervous for her and it will take time to get used to the fact of being an aunt to twins. I hardly know my sister's husband. But all in God it will be okay. ❤.
I would not count on your sister being "enlightened" any time soon. With the added responsibility of twins, her behavior might even become more upsetting to you. I say this from personal experience. Biological kinship is not what it is cracked up to be. My own sister acted like she loved me to my face and conned our father until he died, leaving her virtually his entire estate of approximately $500,000. I am the eldest at 77. At age 65, she is my "baby sister" and I had no suspicion about her betrayal until Dad died. It has been 9 years since our father died and the will was probated. I have not heard from her since. Were I in your shoes, I would always be guarded. Set your own boundaries and stick to them! If your sister didn't respect you before now, don't count on her to change without God's help. Pray for her, but don't ever sacrifice your dignity in order to buy her good will. Feel free to write to me if you wish.
My brother and I have been estranged for almost 40 years. My mother is a narc and treated me completely different than her Golden Child. I gave up on blood relatives a long time ago.

It really helps when captions tell us what kind of music we're listening to. So "melancholy" . . . Okay, so, I'm supposed to feel sad now right off the bat. So, not a comedy, right? I get it! A DRAMA! I don't think so. I think it's a comedy anyway . . .
