It's not warranted to harm the child though. They didn't ask to be born or made by those cousins. And I can never stand behind alienating a child simply cause of their parents selfish fucked up choices.
That is unfathomable! Growing up in a church, i knew two sets of parents who were 1st cousins. As someone who has taken classes on genetics, natural selection, and animal breeding, I would like to confirm that it is NOT possible to garuntee that a couple won't potentially have children with a birth defect. Even disregarding that some birth defects are due to environmental reasons rather than genetic ones (fetal alcohol syndrome, for instance) we don't know every single gene that can cause every single disorder, we only know some of them. In regions where first cousin marriages are legal, it's not uncommon for such couples to be required by law to do genetic screening for the genetic disorders we do know about to prove that they aren't both carriers of a known disorder in order for them to legally have children or legally get married (the laws vary some here from region to region.) Even with this precaution, such couples are still significantly more likely to miscarry due to carrying the same unknown lethal recessive alleles (the average I person is a carrier for 5 of these, and if your partner is related to you it's a lot more likely that you'll have one of those 5 in common.) If the baby survives, they're still a lot more likely to have a disorder we don't know how to test for, and/or have polygenetic disorders that are thought to involve dozens of different genes that each play a role in your likelihood of having the disorder (many psychiatric disorders are polygenetic, which is why they sometimes run in families, but different members of the family may have it worse than others, or have slightly different symptoms. )
I found out my grandma and grandpa are first cousins. Their dads were brothers. So they both had the same last name before and after marriage. But this was in another country and in the year 1940
This is actually legal here in the UK. My cousins are like siblings, so to me it's gross. We also have a fault collagen gene, EDS, It causes a lot of pain, imagine a baby with a double dose of it. There's a lot of British people with South Asian heritage, some have families who moved here many generations ago, right to people who decided to move here or maybe to get married here. It's culturally common to marry cousins, so some families have a very small gene pool, sadly the massively increased the chance of babies born with disabilities, particularly ones with a genetic cause as opposed to a child being born with a quite random disability for example a cleft lip or cerebral palsy, or most limp imperfections. I can't look at it that way, all children are beautiful, I'm trying to respect those children, EDS can be inherited or random. So, in the areas where a high proportion of people living there with South Asian heritage and whose family have cousins marrying cousin ps the rate of birth 'defects' is massively higher than nearby towns and cities. For many, many years officials kept quiet because they didn't want to offend anyone and it's 'culture' doesn't mean culture is always right though. I visited a school in the city adjoining my town their percentage of children with special needs was massively higher than ours. Almost half the children with special needs they had were all I e extended family. They had the same disabilities , some were severely affected others lesser, some of the children were so disabled they had to go to a special school we call them for children with profound needs. It's expensive and the cities in talking about have a far higher % of those schools and the number of places if far higher compared with similar cities. Adults can do what they like with consenting adults, but when it harms babies and children it needs to stop. A similar situation is often seen in Amish communities
Oh you don’t know the amount of money I would give to go back to the days I didn’t know that FIRST cousins were about to get their tongues tied together 😭😭😭
7:02 believe it or not we can analyse the parents DNA to determine whether they are a carrier for any genetic diseases. This can be used to calculate the likelihood of a child inheriting a genetic condition. For Cystic fibrosis i believe you need to inherit 1 recessive alleles from each parent but you might want to correct me on that. basically the reason why inbreeding is so dangerous is that both parents will most likely have the same genetic conditions (or carriers of the dame genetic condition) because they share the "same blood" so the offspring is more likely to develop multiple genetic diseases. for example if your both your parents are a carrier of heart disease, you would probably suffer from the same condition. This is why its so important to have have children with someone not blood related to you introduce "new DNA" into the gene pool. Obviously its MUCH more complicated than that and there are many factors which can effect the baby but i always find these things quite facinating. (im a certified neek)
To clarify the results that they have, that's for typical things a person can have as a disorder. I have EDS so regardless it is a dominant genetic, meaning that 75% of my children will have hypermobile EDS. They were looking for recessive genes in their DNA. These are where it would take two copy's for the person to be effected and not just a carrier of the disorder. It sounds like she's a carrier of fiber whatever she said, and he carries no genetic mutations. Still the kids can and likely will have genetic mutation from having the same copy of just regular DNA
I had no idea eds was so dominant. My brother has it and i have hypermobility. And my mum and nan had stuff thats very similar presenting to some of the traits of it. Im deffo going to have to look into that more for the future. I already had the worry any kids would have it but i didnt know it was so high
I also have H-EDs but I’m either a de-novo mutation, meaning that I’m the first of my line, or that I’m secretly adopted, because I have zero family members on either side who have it at all. So their kid could be the first of its line of many generic diseases, including all 12 forms of EDs.
7:14 yes you can, genetic testing is a thing, and if neither one is a carrier for anything then the child is all good; if one of them is a carrier for something, there’s a chance that the kid will have that thing (depending on the thing, some diseases/disorders only require one copy to affect the individual, others need both); and if they both are carriers for the same thing, then the kid is 100% gonna have that thing…aside from this kind of situation, it’s usually done on certain populations that are known to be carriers for some really troublesome diseases (just to let them know the chances of their offspring being affected and how severely affected they may be); and Ngl, here in the US it’s weird, but culturally very acceptable in a lot of other places in the world, so it just depends on what you were exposed to in your life whether or not it’s OK in your mind…(siblings/parents/uncles/aunts/grandparents (like, one person directly removed from you or your parents) though, EVERYONE can agree on that being unacceptable lol)
Ngl, I had my own Alabama Monday. 😂 We visited family in another state when i was like 8. Went to a party and I started crushing on a cute boy I've never met before. Told him i liked him, he liked me back and the whole time all the kids were trying to get us to kiss. I think kissed him on the cheek before we left. I was told after that it was a family function....he was probably a distant cousin or family friend that was brought along but that scarred me as a kid. Luckily I never saw him again so maybe we weren't related😂
They had a gene test that tested for the diseases that they can pass on because they're potential carriers. Some diseases are recessive, meaning you need one genetic copy from each parent. I didn't get if both are cystic fibrosis carriers, but if they are, about 25% chance they set their kid up for early death and suffering
I have stepcousins. Nonrelated. And nope. Just nope. Never. I have always viewed them as my blood relatives and picturing anything beyond that. Gonna vomit. 🤢
Kathy:*cures aids, all cancer *leads us world peace *ends war on drugs and child trafficking World: oh yeah, I know Kathy, the one with the incest cousins
7:09 their baby won't have any defects just because they are cousins. The main problem of inbreeding is that both of them may have a recessive allele of certain genetic disease that they are not suffering but act like carriers. Them having children together increases the probability of passing both alels to their child. So they must do this tests to be sure that it doesn't happen. If let's say it’s an autosomal recessive disease (like in her case) and they marry someone who is not related (as one should) they probability of said person also being a carrier of this allele is extremely low and in the long run it will make this abnormal allele to disappear from the family line. On the other side endogamy causes the permanency of undesired traits. So I understand they checked for genetic diseases their child could end up having as a result of their union. Hers say 1 genetic disease out of 274, his say none. So I understand that she has a recessive allele for cystic fibrosis which is autosomal recessive genetic disease he doesn't have this allele so their child will not end up with it. Now that she knows she is a carrier of this allele in the future if let’s say the split up and she decides to marry another man he should do this test because she is a carrier of one abnormal allele. Short answer: this pair won't have a deformed child just for being cousins neither the baby will end up with cystic fibrosis but may end up being a carrier just because she is the mother independently of who is the father. It's still not a reason to commit incest, because they are normalizing it and while they bothered to do this test some may not or just have an unplanned pregnancy that they won't decide to terminate even after knowing that in fact they both carry an abnormal allele.
Cathy's reaction is the normal one. like seriously. Not even do i put up make out pictures and anything of that sort in my family facebook and all that, making it virtually inescapable of the fact that they are in a relationship, SLAPPING THIS FACT ALL OVER SO AS MANY PPL AS POSSIBLE TO KNOW ABOUT IT IN EVERYONE'S FACE. Like bruh, NO ONE. Not even normal couples do that. What makes them think as first cousins, ppl would want to see it and to let everyone see it??? How delusional. My standpoint is the same as cathy's. I dont care if the couple is together and blood related (since its not like u can stop them anyways), but no kids cus its unfair for them, and don't live such a public life so no one else in the family would get in trouble cus of their r/s. Im just a random stranger and we're already judging the heck out of them. Imagine if their kid (even if by miracle they came out normal) would be bullied everywhere if ppl everywhere knew about their parents. Imagine the mental trauma they would get. And no, not even adopted kids would be safe from the bullying if info about them got out. Family members related to them both would be bullied too. Even if theyre both healthy, their kids would not be safe from the health issues.
I am glad i came across your channel, you do not fail to make me laugh! Not only that but you have the same commentary i think of in these shit situations😂💖 thanks for making me smile
For anyone wondering what cystic fibrosis is and what their kid could have: An inherited life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system. Cystic fibrosis affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat, and digestive juices. It causes these fluids to become thick and sticky. They then plug up tubes, ducts, and passageways. Symptoms vary and can include cough, repeated lung infections, inability to gain weight, and fatty stools. Treatments may ease symptoms and reduce complications. Newborn screening helps with early diagnosis.
Yes you can look for the genes. My cousin had Cystic Fibrosis. Both parents have to carry the gene. They were not related. I'm just saying that goes for any couple. That's how they develop it. If you're planning on having any children get tested for the gene.

It’s not bad enough that they’re first cousins who want to be involved, but to get so graphically into each other on camera?! Have you no shame?! That’s just so foul! I literally gagged…
What do you mean? Marrying your cousin is literally sick.
I had a friend in school who's parents were first cousins. She got bullied to hell in school. Then again, there's a lot of cultures where its normal and common to marry first cousins.
Yeah in islam it's actually normal to marry your first cousins
How did they find out?
@@MyGachaStudioI am Muslim and it’s totally forbidden in my country and culture😁

So disgusting 🤢. If they even have a sliver of love for a potential child then they won’t have any children. Think about the ridicule and the stigma (which is absolutely warranted) that this child/children will go through. These people are selfish and gross. Billions of people in the world and they chose each other…… 🤢…….. 🤮
It's not warranted to harm the child though. They didn't ask to be born or made by those cousins. And I can never stand behind alienating a child simply cause of their parents selfish fucked up choices.
@@junrobin9335I completely agree with you.
That is unfathomable!
Growing up in a church, i knew two sets of parents who were 1st cousins. In one family the children looked "normal", but in the other family the children had overly large heads and a couple of them had limps.
And now a couple of my first cousins married our second cousins. Needless to say for many reasons, i do not go to that church anymore 😧😬
That’s messed up

I feel sorry for their family. I’m surprised that their family haven’t blocked them two and disowned them yet!

In regions where first cousin marriages are legal, it's not uncommon for such couples to be required by law to do genetic screening for the genetic disorders we do know about to prove that they aren't both carriers of a known disorder in order for them to legally have children or legally get married (the laws vary some here from region to region.)
Even with this precaution, such couples are still significantly more likely to miscarry due to carrying the same unknown lethal recessive alleles (the average I person is a carrier for 5 of these, and if your partner is related to you it's a lot more likely that you'll have one of those 5 in common.) If the baby survives, they're still a lot more likely to have a disorder we don't know how to test for, and/or have polygenetic disorders that are thought to involve dozens of different genes that each play a role in your likelihood of having the disorder (many psychiatric disorders are polygenetic, which is why they sometimes run in families, but different members of the family may have it worse than others, or have slightly different symptoms. )
Bro at 3:15 was so funny I spit my water out bc of his face reaction😭😭
Ooops, I write an essay!
If anyone is interested in what I talked about one of the cities I'm talking about is Bradford.
that's interesting, thank you. i remember there's a documentary on youtube about this, the kids walked on all fours.
I don’t wanna be known as the cousin of the incest cousins

believe it or not we can analyse the parents DNA to determine whether they are a carrier for any genetic diseases.
Layze you've got such positive vibes, I've really enjoyed every single one of ur vid!! I love watching ur vids whatever I start my day !!!
"My family would kill me" I felt it bro😂
Sorry to ask but is it ED as in Eating Disorder or ED as in Erectile Dysfunction?
@@estheradusei.365 i wont spell this right and can barely remember how to say it. But its a connective tissue disorder. But yet another ED acronym
@@estheradusei.365Ehlers Danlos syndrome.

World: oh yeah, I know Kathy, the one with the incest cousins
I thought I was crazy going around asking for candy with my cousins…

For anyone wondering what cystic fibrosis is and what their kid could have:
An inherited life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system.
