    I know its a long time since this was filmed. But a tip for the future. Never cover the firewood with a tarp, the firewood will become moldy and rot. Also do not stack the firewood to tight. The key is airflow to keep the wood in good condition.

    • @charliethecat-gi3si
      @charliethecat-gi3si 27 дней назад +1

      Yes we here in NZ usually do one row then the next row perpendicular to that and that gives a good airflow so stacking them alternate ways. There looks as if there would be lots of wood from fallen trees etc and in your sheds that you can use in the future. The wood from trees needs to dry out if it is just been felled. I would make a substantial wood stack closer to the house - perhaps at the end of the carport structure. Then another wood box inside that you replenish once a day from the carport stack. Once a week or month replenish the carport stack. Best wishes!

      @nathanandyvette  27 дней назад +2

      Thanks for the tips. When we bought the house, the previous owners had left the fire wood like that. I stacked it a quickly as I could. Next time I will stack with more airflow in mind -Yvette

      @ScinnerNo1 26 дней назад

      "NEVER cover the firewood with a tarp"? That's just wrong. It's better to cover the wood temporarily while stacking instead of it being rained on.

    • @charliethecat-gi3si
      @charliethecat-gi3si 26 дней назад +2

      @@ScinnerNo1 The point is that tarps are impermeable and do not let the air through. You can get mould/moisture starting up. Better to throw a piece of corrugated iron on or just cover the the top using the tarp. Also if the wood has been properly dried a few days of rain will not hurt it and it will dry of quickly once it has been stacked and the airis flowing through again.

    • @charliethecat-gi3si
      @charliethecat-gi3si 26 дней назад +2

      @@nathanandyvette And you have made a wonderful pallet floor for the wood and that will help with good stacking and airflow. Just one tip.....I would probably not stack the wood hard up against the (red) wall of the shed if you are drying the wood. If it is already dried then not so bad but wood while is drying can put moisture against any surface it comes into contact with. Moisture can lead to rot. .

    the dense white smoke is an indicator that the wood is to wet. Normaly you cut the wood then store it under a roof with good ventilation for 1 summer then use it the next winter. Black smoke and smell = very bad. Yellowish smoke means it contains a lot of tar, not the best to use. very light white smoke, you have a good fire burning. When you cant see the smoke its perfect fire during a warmer day. Also if its a new stow it can be burning off oil from paint/produktion and it will go away after you used the stow a couple of times.

    Lay the ladder on the ground with one end against the house, lift other end and walk towards the house pushing the ladder upp, when you are at the wall lift and pull lower end of ladder away from the house to get the correct angle.

    I’m hoping you’re both going to get better at explaining what and why you are doing jobs! At present it appears to be organised chaos! I realise you’re stacking wood for the winter. I would just have expected less time spent on making a wood pile and more time dedicated to explaining your plans for the future. Also you seem to be living on top of a motor way. The noise is quite distracting, some thing completely beyond your control I realise but maybe noise cancelling tech could help? What are your plans for the future? I for one know nothing of your future plans for your house and yourselves. Good luck for 2025❤

    • @nathanandyvette
      @nathanandyvette  27 дней назад

      We are definitely living in organised chaos at the moment. For some reason the camera picks up the road noise very well, in real life its not that bad so we didn't know it would be so distracting. We will be trying to reduce this in the editing proces, but that will be a learning curve since we have never done this.
      We will do our best to be better at explaining everything. At the moment of filming this video we still had no specific plans of what we wanted to do with the house. By now we do, so we will explain more in upcoming video's. -Yvette
