- Goodness my man you see I can't understand
Why you wanna say Neighbor to your brother man
Taking black pride then you call yourself a Neighbor
Don't bring yourself down 'cause it just don't figure
Take a look at yourself and your history
You don't look like a goodness Neighbor to me
It's a negative world and the white man made it
Gave you a name to dominate and trade it
Making blood money of his very own race man
And all of this because the colour of your face man
Neighbor Neighbor Neighbor Neighbor Neighbor
Placed and educated in a neighbourhood of crime
Taught from the beginning that you weren't worth time
Liquorstore and gunstore next to one another
With only one purpose so you all kill each other
Leaving one less problem to worry about
That's the way they do it this is how it…
Neighbor Neighbor Neighbor Neighbor Neighbor
Thank you James for realizing that the "message" we tried to spread back in 1993 was anything BUT racist. We were young and yes we are all pink and from Scandinavia but the bottom line is: we were trying to speak out on a topic that we honestly cared about. I am not going to try and cover the whole theme of the song here as this is not the place for lengthy explanations. Having said that, 27 years later I do realize that we didn't tackle the topic in the most sophisticated of ways but our intentions were honest and from the heart. Lives matter period and as much as we can never EVER understand the horrors of african american history we CAN adress the issue and the simple truth is that we all need eachother and depend on eachother, regardless of race, creed or nationality. As for the current situation and your current "leader", all I can say is stay fucking strong and don't lose hope, the best is yet to come! Peace & thank you! /Zak P.s. The above lyrics to the song are slightly wrong but I'll leave that up to the people who even care enough to do research!
In case nobody had time to do the research due to being busy protesting:
Goddamn my man you see I can't understand
Why you wanna say neighbor to your brother man
Talking black pride then you call yourself a neighbor
Don't bring yourself down cos it just don't figure
Take a look at yourself and your history
You don't look like a goddamn neighbor to me
It's a negative word and the white man made it
Gave you a name to dominate and trade it
Making blood money of his very own race man
And all of this because the color of your face man
[1 Chorus]
neighbor
(neighbor neighbor neighbor neighbor) neighbor
(neighbor neighbor neighbor neighbor) neighbor
(neighbor neighbor neighbor neighbor) neighbor
Placed and educated in a neighborhood of crime
Taught from the beginning that you weren't worth time
Liquor-store and gun store next to one another
With only one purpose so you all kill each other
Leaving one less problem to worry about
That's the way they do it this is how it turns out
And justice for all with the American government
I wanna know where all the goddamn money went
We didn't see it and it didn't do no good
I guess you couldn't give a fuck about a black neighborhood
[2 Chorus]
neighbor
(neighbor neighbor neighbor neighbor) neighbor
(neighbor neighbor neighbor neighbor) neighbor
(neighbor neighbor neighbor neighbor) neighbor
(neighbor neighbor neighbor neighbor) You're the real neighbors
(neighbor) You're the real neighbors
(neighbor) You're the real neighbors
(neighbor) You're the real neighbors
There's always gonna be fanatical minorities
The Ku Klux Klan and fucked up authorities
Conservative cunts and religious preachers
I don't care cos they ain't our teachers
Living a life they say is free from sin
Then they judge another person by the color of their skin
I feel ashamed of myself I'm a white human being
Surrounded by suckers to afraid to be seeing
They ain't such a thing called superior race
And there ain't nothing special 'bout the color of your face
You've got a one way ticket to a dead end street
The pressure is on so feel the heat
Media pollution is a very bad solution
Hypocritical hype is your only contribution
So leave us alone and give your brothers some space
Cos you're a lousy contribution to the human race
[2 Chorus]
The people who would call the song racist are those who don't pay attention to the lyrics. Thank you guys (clawfinger) for inspiring people and dropping some truth.
as a german, i can sign this. just dont be offended, just think about it.
Please continue! You have a good soul! From A white guy that has tried a thousand of times to convince people that this is antiracistic.
Sometimes, for your own sanity you allow others to continue in their neighborly ways
"Justice for all with the American government,
I want to know where all the "goodness" money went,
we didn't see it and it didn't do no good,
I guess you couldn't give a "love" about a black neighbourhood."
Say what you will about the first verse - sure, as white/pink people Clawfinger may have little right to tell descendants of enslaved people how to use a word - but the rest of the song is a biting indictment on how politics never really seem to have a positive impact for those who have been hurt the worst by past policies.
Major facts
German masters tried to enslave Swedish islanders like they did to Estonians and Latvians. Did you watch the Näkimadalad (1988) mini-series (USSR), in 4 episodes? That was about a Swedish man who was married to an Estonian slave woman. ruclips.net/video/7mdOh3YVQGw/видео.htmlsi=xXsESDaGJuE2zSTa
Waiting for my justice still goddamn y’all are slow.
This part!
Everybody interprets art differently. I like my view better :)
