If you haven’t checked out his 10 game challenge, than you should, you only need an initial investment and to go to thrift stores or marketplace and you can start a collection. I have over $500+ worth of games and consoles for free because of his tips!
@@kristinbartlett8541 I have done pretty well too cause of his tips, but his tactics don't work everywhere. Thrift stores in my area only stock before opening and there are several people for each store that line up an hour minimum before open and snag everything. I can't be there at open, because of school and work. So I've had to build my collection through Craigslist and FB marketplace. Up to 16 console variants and about 200 games, and I'm in for about $1000 total. Working on selling a few things to bring that number down, but $10 isn't possible for everyone.

Yea I've used some of his tips but where I live it's hard, I've had to use Yard Sales, Garage sales, estate sales and Craigslist to get mine. So far in 2 years time, value on my collection according to GameEye is close to $15k. Not bad for only doing it a little over 2 years. I started watching Retro Rick only about a year ago I think.
@@optimusmagnum yeah I started watching Rick's channel in like June 2020 and started my collection around the same time. I'm up to about $6k in value probably. It's been fun. I completely missed garage sale season, so I'm really excited for that this summer.
That lunchbox is definitely my favorite find. I can't believe it was still there. I'm sure if it had the thermos, it would have sold for sure. Great job with the vid Rick! 👍
I still collect movies on DVD/Blu-ray even though most people nowadays think that it is crazy to do so.

I collect old hay hooks, lived on a farm as a kid and now when I see at thrift or estate sale I pick em up

I have a lot of football cards and baseball cards from the 90's and some late 2000's cards. Definitely have to see how much they are now since the popularity is coming back.

It's actually crazy how collectable cards are right now. 90s Marvel cards extremely value now and the space jam cards are through the roof. Glad they're finally getting the value they deserve, great memories collecting.

My wife collects vintage Pyrex bowls, and I collect vintage bar ware. I was jumping up and down and yelling at the screen when I saw the complete set with carrier in your video at 7:21 - stuff like that would easily cost $40+ in California!

Rick, can't believe you didn't buy the Pigs In Space lunchbox!!! That is epic! Would love to have that. When I was a kid all the lunchboxes were metal, like the Fonzi and McDonald's ones you passed over during your trip.

I remember collecting the set of Batman glasses from McDonald’s while I was in the Air Force in Delaware. So many great finds n sometimes the memories that come to us by seeing items 🤘🏻😎

Lego Battles was one of my favorite lego games. Just a sick RTS game where theres 3 different eras, but the copy i had i gave it to some kid that never gave me back my cool stuff-
I started to LOL when you put back the heavy mental magazine and then played the back to the future clip "ooh la la". I laughed so loud my wife asked what's so funny and she was in the next room over.

The Showbizz Pizza Place jarred me a bit because we have those exact characters at a place called Billy Bob's Pizza Wonderland here in WV! II had never heard of that other name before! Super cool

the best thing i found thrifting so far was 3 sealed xbox 360 games for $3 each, I've sold 2 of them on ebay. I got $15 + shipping for one and $25 + shipping for the other (cdn), your $10 method really works (when your city is not under tight corona restrictions)

I collect basketball cards becuase when I was young I spend hours and hours with my grandfather going through them.

I had my mother ask my aunt if she had any of her old stuff she would want to sell. She brought a random box over mostly cords and stuff (she hasn’t went through all of it) but it has a dang GameCube gameboy player and start up disc. I’m at pumped.
I collect SO much stuff. I collect DVD, Blu Ray, and 4K UHD movies. Wouldn't mind adding some VHS but space is an issue with a 300+ DVDs. I recently got a 4K TV and UHD disc player and while at first skeptical I'm now a believer. Movies look (and sound) AMAZING in this format! Right now my 4K collection is small but hope to grow it in the months to come. REALLY like the Steel Books (especially the store exclusives) that come out. Never seen one at a flea market but anything's possible (did find one at a used book store awhile back). Would keep an eye open as some of these, like the Best Buy Logan Steel Book, go for $100 or more on eBay!
I have a massive comic book collection that goes back to the early 90s (still reading and collecting today). My comic collection would be a little larger but I sold some off a long box or two in my late teens, early 20s, when I was too cool for anything but running around and going on my little adventures. Early Todd McFarlane and Jim Lee ANYTHING is what got me hooked. Would love to get some of those books graded but it's SO expensive. Last time I checked I had in the neighborhood of +5,400 books and graphic novels (and growing!).
Also a HUGE music nerd, again going back to the 90s, with 500+ CDs. Kind of sad that modern cars don't even come equipped with players anymore (and stores are phasing out the CD section!). Need to transfer everything to digital but it's SO time consuming! I'm more into vinyl these days, with my collecting going back to the early 2000s when I first started to DJ (lots of white label releases). I currently have 600+ records in my collection (all genres and time periods but with a passion for Electronic Music).
Then there's action figures with a heavy assortment of modern pieces (mostly Star Wars, Marvel, and DC) and some vintage (GI Joe, He-Man, Transformers, anything 80s). Most of my 90s collection got sold to fund my teenage/early adult adventures mentioned earlier. I have somewhere around 400+ figures, vehicles, and playsets (mostly in the package). There's few 1980s GI Joe figures I hope to get graded one day. Really need a room like yours to display everything properly as most items are currently boxed up (sad face).
Last, I did have something of a video game collection with games from PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 covering all PlayStation eras. There was also some N64, Super NES, and Wii for Nintendo. Most of the older stuff got sold so now I'm left with just my PS4 titles. Watching your channel makes me want to buy back some of my older games and build the collection up again. Think I'm going to need more space though! Especially if I want to showcase everything or play retro games.

That Varsity Blues blu-ray is OOP, doesn't sell for a whole lot, but it's still a good $10-$15. If you can get it for a good price, might be worth it.
finding old games in my hometown is rare because mostly people dont sell there old games or system often

I collect video games and I’m only 11 but I already have a gaming shelf with an original Xbox, a Nintendo 64, a ps1, a bunch of tiger handhelds but I have a lot lore

Favorite pickup for this trip would be the ds games, honestly you ahould of grabbed that 2ds. 100 for everything was a real good deal. Just the ds if it works goes for 60-80 or even more.
