I think it’s such a shame that people think it appropriate to make negative comments and be critical about how a person carries out what they love doing . I live in the UK and watch Chad and Jolene everyday. I think I must have watched every episode and I’m amazed at what can be achieved with what is a small selection of tools, parts from his stash and a huge amount of talent. You will always get the haters whether you build cars , you are carpenter, a painter there will always be those people who see the negatives in what is done , but ask yourself this . Could they achieve what you achieve each day ….. no . Not even close . I have a close friend here in the UK who is a car builder ( Andy Saunders look him up) and only the other day 30 40 comments on how awful a car was he built many years ago. Not one person on that chat could have achieved what he achieved. It’s the same with you . Keep on going , block out the hate , you have many many fans that enjoy what you do and you inspire them. Wishing you all the very best

I own a body shop that's doing pretty damn well. I watch these videos, not so that I can pick them apart, but because I'm entertained and impressed. I do everything "by the book" and my work lasts a good long time, but I do all of that now, so that I can work myself into a position where I can just be creative and build for myself later. At that point, I'm throwing the book at the window and doing what I want. If I want to glue the whole damn car together, that's what I'm going to do. So piss on the haters, they annoy the rest of us viewers as much as the annoy you guys.

He has shown me that if you try you can fix or make anything to the way you like. As he has said many times take what you like and chuck away what you don't. It's easy to complain but it's never easy to give kindness and keep the negativity to ourselves. Judging is what everyone dose and not many care to be mindful on how it may make others feel. Put yourself in his spot with the truck,he did the best with what he had no extra cost and to most that is impossible to do. Chad keep up the good work your great at what you do.

I'm taking my time with my 1992 Rover GTi restoration because it's a steep learning curve, it's a spare time project as and when I've got the time, there are very few panels available and I'm working in a small garage but it's thanks to your channel and others out there that are proving to be excellent source of advice for us DIY car restorers. Currently we are in an environment where some people live only with the need to criticize from the armchair, with little knowledge themselves. It is the thin edge of the lazy cancel culture where lazy people think they can criticize skilled people. The simplest way to combat them is to ignore them and not give them energy or validation.
These true bodywork artists are a dying skill in our disposable societies, but you see in Cuba and India these skills are also prevalent due to necessity. Well necessity is coming to the West soon and without these skills we will need to pay big prices. These videos are more valuable than anything we can learn at school or anywhere unless we are in the trade. They are very important for preserving and longevity of old cars, or even repairing not so old cars.

from sheet metal scrounged from a scrap threshing machine. We also made rocker panels and the bottom of the rear Quarter panels (2 door) from the Galvanized sheet metal
Primed and painted it and It almost looked as good as when new ... I drove that car another 50,000 miles and the Galvanized metal lasted longer than the original metal .

I know it's irritating but please ignore them because guys like me appreciate what you do! BTW, I've never had any premade patch panel that fit even close. I don’t think people are meaning undercoating. I think they’re talking about not controlling rust inside the body panels before closing up spaces inside or between panels. Maybe addressing your perspective on the rust issues, for example, your reasons why you do or don’t put rust inhibitors on the metal that’s obviously rusty might help us understand your decision. I’m not a car builder and don’t claim to know what you know about building cars. I just enjoy watching your channel and seeing how you deal with fabrication problems

Well I will say this. You are right. I'm not a body guy. But I have put quarters on a car. I have repaired body work. I can do it. I'm not fast. But I do know how to do it. I watch your channel. I do love what you're doing. I don't have a lot of the tools for body work. I do have a plasma cutter, mig welder and the basic body tools. Nothing else. But I can repair panels and floors. I have painted a car. Not like you have. But just a basic paint. It looks good. Not show room but good for driving on the road. So I do agree with what you are saying. I'm a mechanic, spent 20 years in the Army retired out from the military. I still work for the military on military vehicles. So I love you're videos. So keep them coming I do love them. It takes time to do a vehicle. Can't do it in 2,3 days . It takes a long time to do things right. I collect hit miss engines now. So I have spent 10 Years just looking for parts. So it's a time factor. But when you find or get it done it gives you great pleasure thay it's done and done right. And then when people see it and then they tell you that it looks great you're happy with yourself. So anyway don't let it get to you. Because the real mechanics and body person's know what you're doing and appreciate your time and energy. In doing this and showing us how you do things and help us learn to. Just wanted you to know. Thanks again.

Don't do it, Chad. You already leave yourself open to criticism by defending your creative decisions during the course of work, and now you're going to defend yourself? Just say, "constructive comments are welcome" and go about your day.
I've been in the creative business for most of my life, first as a writer, then as an artist, now as a woodturner. True artists who innovate take risks, which means they often succeed and sometimes fail. That's a normal byproduct of what you do. Moreover, true innovation feels "different" which is the same sensation as "wrong." It's perfectly understandable that some people react negatively.
    Just do it.

The comment about people taking credit for the work of others struck a chord with me. I have two old cars that I've done everything to myself; mechanics, bodywork, and paint. I was lucky enough to have my '91 MX-5 chosen to be displayed on the Meguiar's stand at the NEC Classic Car Show last year, and all the cars on the stand were judged for a prize. The Triumph TR6 that took the trophy had been treated to a ground up restoration by a professional restorer costing the owner thousands, and it had only covered 60 miles since restoration. Yes, it was beautifully restored, but the owner holding the trophy had done nothing other than clean it, and might have even had it professionally detailed prior to the show.

Watch project Binky from Bad Obsession motorsport or actually b is for build shows and tells how they decide to do things sometimes not as much as Chad does though. Project Binky is on another level all together though. there bracket building is simply amazing . they even built their own A/C evaporator. My criticism of chad is that his cars I don't think are that usable. The mud would probably fail within a couple of years and have to be redone. His chopping of the roofs could be built a lot safer if he would not just chop through outer and inner structure in one cut but overlap the inner and outer structure for a far stronger post. He also could easily treat the rust with the rust stopper such as corroseal or Rust Kutter and then apply his panel. There are also weld through primers which help prevent corrosion. I have taken apart many cars fixed like he did and underneath there is no structure left and the rust shows through your fix in a matter of months. That may be fine in some instances but alot of the time people get ripped off by buying a car that looks good but is really a rust bucket. His fixing of the truck sills like he did is fine for a farm truck that will only be driven for another 5 yrs maybe but the coupe he built if someone buys a cart like that they hope will last a lifetime for them to enjoy. I forgot to add watch Halfass Kustoms he does similar to what chad does and explains a lot.
