Regardless if the player was showing off or not, this episode helped me a lot with my play in Palace. I never liked playing Palace because i just wasn't sure what I was suppose to be doing. Now I have a better understanding. Thanks WarOwl!
Why would a player not want to become better and genuinely need assistance even if they send in a video where they do well, but obviously didn't do everything perfectly and want help with that?
+Young City Bandit How to properly play palace and watch angles can only improve gameplay. This video isn't just for the player who submitted the demo; it's universal. Anyone can learn from it. If the question wasn't that great, then a video shouldn't have been made out of it regardless of footage.
got a solo queue game yesterday. got thrown in with 3 guys from a clan and one random guy. i did so bad that i got kicked after round 10 or so (yeah, really, i am that bad. unranked at 9 wins, before you ask). I would never let that see anyone. So yeah, i dont think you will ever get enough footage from guys that need to improve, because they are way too embarrased. just my 2 cents
MrKrejzol HD i dont want to do stuff like that, especiallly if im so bad that i totally understand their decision. guess maybe this game just isnt for me. dunno.
After seeing this video, and others, this is the problem I have with you WarOwl: You over complicate simple things, yet avoid teaching your audience more complex and universal things. What you are showing here does not need a 10 minute video, infact Steel, AdreN, N0thing or some other pros that do tutorials could cover it more meaningfully in 4 minutes. And i understand your content is meant for lower player, thats the same dumb excuse people use to defend your content when there is only so much a new player can learn before he gets better and you need to start making your content more meaningful and helpful to not just new players, but people who have been watching your content for a while. For example, instead of spending 11 minutes talking about pushing palace on Mirage. You could have spent 3 or 4 on just pushing palace as its really easy. Pushing A on mirage is just having the palace and main players play off each other. Main players push in to tetris, you moltov under, they kill a guy whos out of position if hes there. Tetris players peak the site and get info on where the 2nd guy is, you peak out from palace and kill him while hes focused on main. You shouldn't have to worry about gaining your own info as there is just too many angles, and CT/stairs should be smoked off. The smoke you introduced does nothing, infact it helps the player under palace as he can just hide there if hes smart, and no you shouldn't be relying on your enemy team to be bad in order to win games. There are even good pop flashes you can throw. See, Instead of asking your viewers to recreate one situation, just give them a general idea of how to do things. You need to teach them, not feed them scenarios (classic Biblical parable of teaching not feeding, if you didn't get it.) And then for the rest of the video you should be focused on teaching your viewers something that the guy in the video really failed at. For example counter strafing (hitting your opposite key before shooting to ensure a clean first shot, as your avatar is always sliding when you stop moving.) This is more advance, and will help improve all of your viewers games as a whole. Its incredibly important espacially for people striving to play at a higher level. And its something you should be teaching them, instead of one specific scenario of pushing palace, which would help someone in 1/100 games. These are just my thoughts. You WarOwl knights don't need to get mad, this is just feedback because i really feel your content needs to improve, its just way too basic and scenario-like, I feel there are a lot more things you should be showing your audience like counter-strafing, as mentioned above, off angles, consistency, peaking properly, cross hair placement, when to go for headshots vs spray, etc. I still love your other content, don't get me wrong. Your weekly recaps are great, and I hope you continue doing them but as a veteran player I just feel your content is not useful to anyone really, and is not helping the community improve as a whole. There are pro-players that do a better more in-depth job but they have like 1/6th of your views so I felt it was better to just ask you to improve your content rather than wait for them to become more popular. Sorry for the wall of words. the TL:DR is at the start.
+SunTzuCS I believe the point of MM academy videos is not so much "here is what you *should* do if you are in this very situation", but rather "here is what you *could* do if you are in this very situation", so that players develop game sense, nade intuition, etc, to figure out by themselves what to do if they find themselves in another unique situation (and all situations are). Just like chess players solve puzzles: you will never meet the same situation in a real game, but having solved thousands of puzzles will help you develop new strategies on the fly later. About more universal help: have you seen his tip and tricks video series?
Skywalker8923 This is a problem i have with all his videos. Maybe i did focus too much on that hes specifically teaching scenarios. But the main problem I have is that hes spending too much time on these scenarios when he should be teaching better and more important stuff in MM academy, and in his channel in general that he hasn't done yet. Again, I made a list of things he should be covering rather than this. Thats why hes getting a lot of critizism, and rightfully so, from Pro-American players such as Freakazoid, Steel and other C9 members. Because hes over complicating incredibly simple things, yet avoiding the more advanced concepts that he should be teaching. This is a problem I have with him because hes such a corner stone in the community that people look up to him, yet hes not teaching the right stuff so I feel that if anything hes really holding back from the community as they should be watching proffesional players not him, and these pro's channels have like 1/8th or so his views.
+SunTzuCS His content gets him a lot of views at the moment, so I guess at least some people find it helpful. And then I guess that it would not be really fair for these pro players with lower viewcount to see one of the youtube giants of the CSGO community steal their audience by providing similar content, would it? Now on the other hand, it is always a good idea to get multiple sources for tips and tutorials. So instead of getting TheWarOwl to improve his content (once again in your mind and other's --- some people *do* find his videos helpful), those channels you believe provide more useful content need to grow. That doesn't mean that you need to "wait for them to do so", it is not only a matter of time, their audience can help a lot. Would you mind naming some of those pro channels? I'd really like to have a look at what they can provide. Thanks! And I have to say that it is always a pleasure to constructive criticism written politely on the internet, rare as it is. For that you get my upvotes, sir.
at 4:00 I prefer to hide in the little corner against the wall, pull a flash and look up, your body will be hidden and you will hear footsteps if someone climbs in, if you hear someone pushing throw the flash, they will hear it, it will bounce right beside your feet and blind anyone. And a good smoke trick on t side for a, when you push towards ramp there are wood boards, stand beside it and look at the palaces wood scafold, infront at the arch there is a dark spot on the wall aim and jump and throw and it smokes the middle of sight infront of tripple
Even if they are just trying to show off it is still a helpful thing to now. It helped me I watched this a couple time and I want better than normal. Thx WarOwl
Ok, you want honest ones? tell me where to send you my games. Me and my friends were all supremes, over the last two weeks I bottom frag pretty much every game, We lose or tie 80% of them, and it's come to the point where I can't even visualize myself killing a player anymore. Is it all in my head? I go over my deaths and it doesn't seem like I'm doing much wrong. especially not enough to warrant the huge losses. It FEELS like pure bad luck, is it? I've been taking a break from the game for the last few days, it's that bad.
Go outside, gave some fun you know? maybe all you need is to relax. Kick back on the couch watch some movies with your friends. You just need to loosen up :)
If you only matchmake with friends, I'd suggest doing some solo queue before you try taking a break for a few days. I'm usually the second or third fragger when I play with four of my friends, but there was one week where I was just playing abysmally, bottom fragging, and hitting the salt pretty hard. So I tried a few solo queues, and even though I got placed with the same ranks I had been with my friends, I top fragged three in a row, won, and most importantly, had fun. I don't know if it was just a mental thing or if the matchmaking system only sorts things out right when you're solo, but it gave me enough confidence to play well with my friends again. We were around MG I or II, but I bet it would work at any rank.
+Jmyster4 Just derank your account. Trust me, It's not fun to play and bottom frag every game. It's better to derank and start over from scratch in LEM, like I did before.
WarOwl, I'd like to suggest you to ask people for a RUclips video preview of the moment they have questions about along with their demos. That will save you tons of time and you will actually not waste your time on watching pointless demos. I hope it helps you!
I've seen another cool companion smoke from T spawn to smoke off A CT stairs. Really cool one. Jumpthrow from the corner of the first right-turn house.
When I have someone review my demo I give them a game that I did well in. It gives them a chance to point out mistakes that I wouldn't notice. I could review my own demo of a game I did bad in and see my mistakes. My point is, just because the guy did well in the game doesn't mean he sent it as a brag.
i am surprised you didn't show the molotov into shadow from palace. :O this is basically the only reason i ALWAYS want someone to go through palace during an A execute...Molotov into shadow is definetly one of the most usefull things the palace player can do.Oh and 1 last thing, if u REALLY want people who needs help to send u demos and not good players showing off there is 1 simple thing you can do to encourage them.. DISSABLE THE COMMENTS IN THAT SPECIFIC RUclips SERIES...seriously i am not hating on you i really love your work and i am a big fan but i am surprised you haven't done that already
mm I kinda missed the fact that u can also throw a Molotov or a nade under palace quite easily. Incase some1 plays down there, he'll get pissed :) Either way, great video WarOwl
there is another way to play palace which is more risky and requires the standard smokes to be down but when they are down you can play hyper agressive on palace and get 2 quick kills while your team takes their attention by pushing ramp would not surgest since the things warowl said were the safest and probably the right call
Just a quick tip: Analyze your enemies. If their awper is always mid or jungle, or can just hit nasty shots, don't go palace or smoke jungle. I find it way more effective to go ramp. Even if they smoke ramp, flash in it and prefires the left side. Easiest area to push into A from.
Hello WarOwl, I would like you to do a video series in which you teach us basic setups for some of the most played maps. Maybe teach us also how to react to a bombsite loosing streak. How should someone react to standard strats t's are doing and when to rotate. Its up to you weather you do this, but i would enjoy it if my teammates would know such basic stuff :)
Ty for this, I never know what to do when playing as a team. I usually have to go lone wolf, to try to get intel, fake a site or simply get picks off the enemy. Many kills for me, but I'm not contributing much to the team on T-side Mirage.
This was very helpful because the main maps I play are Mirage and Inferno. Im not that good ( Rank: MGE ) so learning how to play this position is very helpful
STOP TRICKING THE WAROWL! You guys shouldn't have to brag about your skill, instead; improve yourself. :) Wish I could play a competitive with you WarOwl, maybe message me if you have any free time? But I completely understand regardless. Great video and keep up your tremendous work, in my opinion your channel is underated, I'm glad to see you thrive.
Hey warowl. Thanks for all these Videos. I've learned so much about how to play counter strike and I'd probably still be silver if it weren't for your videos :)
I don't know if you're reading this, but can I ask why you assume a player is trying to show off and his questions aren't genuine when he or she is top fragging? As you've shown in the video, the player does make mistakes when he's playing from palace, and his question(s) for tips could very well be genuine, no? Either way, another helpful video from you. Keep up the good work, it's appreciated :)
Hello WarOwl! Maybe you have a video for it, but i want to ask this: What is the best way to hold/learn how to hold the headline with the crosshair?I'm a mg2 player after a month and msotly i lose the trades cause of the misshots from the head.btw I love your videos it helps a lot for me, keep up hte good work my friend.
You know, I kind of feel bad because I did once submit a demo where our team won 16 to 3, but I actually had some legitimate questions about gamesense and whatever. Anyway, the point is, I actually learned a lot from this video.
I think a possible way to remedy this (this being people people sending you demo's of people trying to show off is by starting some sort of highlight series. I believe this may give those people who want to show off to you, an outlet to do so. It may not completely eliminate the problem but it may cut it back substantially!
I don't have a demo to show but could you do one that can help explain good retakes of bomb site b on dust 2. I lose so many rounds just because I don't really know proper flashes to through and other stuff like that. If you could do that it would very helpful. Great video helped out a lot.
Yeah when i sent my demo where i asked for couple of tips/questions and definetely i wasnt showing of anything just got ignored and after that didnt even bother sending demos
thank you WarOwl this is very good using the smokes my friends told me and this i will be able to play palace i used to peak it like that guy and get awped :D
the smoke you shown for connector/stairs is not good for people pushing palace, an AWPer can stand in jungle door and see over it to palace and not been seen. theres a better smoke that you throw further left and it lands deep into jungle so AWPer is completely smoked off
I got a question, i see pro players do this alot and i saw you do it in your solo que to Global elite which was shooting few bullets after throwing a flashbang and i was wondering why is that? is it to hide the sound of the flashbang hitting a surface?
hey warowl, i always get prefired and die very fast on ct side.. its maybe because i hold too obvious angles.. so i was hoping maybe you could show some spots that are not too obvious or predictable
Could you do a video over the difference, between NA and EU skill. I hear a lot of players say EU is way higher then NA, but I haveno idea if it's actually true or not. I'm playing mg2 EU btw (but improved my aim a lot lately and didn't play MM in a view weeks).
I dont know if its just me but i really like engaging without smokes and flashes because its more ninja like.. if you flash they rotate or just are prepared i dont know if thats good or not ^~^ would be nice if you tell me what your oppinion to that is
I am an unranked player but really want to get ranked yet I always lose and really don't like playing Inferno. Do you think you could do one of these videos on that map?
I tried different rendering settings for this video based on your feedback from the last video, let me know if it looks better, or worse!

Depends if I headshot player on bs or ct ramp.
If I miss I'm dead
Too many angles for me. As an entry fragger, I hate when my team decides to go fucking palace.
Grnd_ctrl I'm also an entry fragger, and I only like having one or two go palace. It's useful, but it's easier to entry on ramp imo.
Althios Yeah, Mirage "feeds" you the angles on Ramp, while Palace throws them all at you.
+Althios Lol I'm often an entry fragger as well. Why would a player not want to become better and genuinely need assistance even if they send in a video where they do well, but obviously didn't do everything perfectly and want help with that?
because what the dude asked wasnt very good and he really didnt need any help with it if he top fragged the whole gane
+WayStedYou Some people just don't like taking criticism, and that's fair if they don't set themself up for it.
+Young City Bandit Nice profile picture
Bind some never used key as "disconnect" and disconnect every time they try to kick you.
+MrKrejzol HD that doesnt work lol
Lorean It work for me. Well, maybe worked or valve changed it. Idk.
MrKrejzol HD i dont want to do stuff like that, especiallly if im so bad that i totally understand their decision. guess maybe this game just isnt for me. dunno.
+here4frags There is many ranks, In silver you wont be "too bad"
Shart stooting XD
top kek m8
give me all your bee syrup
This was one of the most helpful MMAs I've seen. Thanks, WO!
NA LE = EU MG
+Yoshi Kamadoro EU LE now = EU gold nova master last year
+Yoshi Kamadoro Weird.. le is still low so wheres the difference?
+bocks i don't believe that
+Yoshi Kamadoro NA LE = EU NOVA
+Yoshi Kamadoro EU LE = SEA NOVA
This series is really helpful. Learned a lot from this series.
Sorry for the wall of words. the TL:DR is at the start.
matesc e. yes thx i like this game as u can see hehe
Skywalker8923 btw ik steel isn't part of c9. I realized how I worded that kinda weird. Should have been Steel, and Freakazoid along with other C9.
Best MMA video in the series
Thanks I've learned the smokes for mirage
oh god I was totally expecting the noob call out but it never gets old
No Owl Vision for you for trying to trick the Owl Mr. Raven.
oh this guy's an eagle, he shouldn't be an eagle
just kidding
much gratitude for sending in the demo
I still have no closure is your ending... MIND IS BLOWN
at 4:00 I prefer to hide in the little corner against the wall, pull a flash and look up, your body will be hidden and you will hear footsteps if someone climbs in, if you hear someone pushing throw the flash, they will hear it, it will bounce right beside your feet and blind anyone.
Try making another account.... Get 10 wins and see where you'll get placed.... If it's something like LE/LEM you're good....
+Jmyster4 play with friends, or when u meet people who are very good, friend them and make a lobby with them, and use ur mic. and practice
Snake Eyes with the 8 minute solo cam take is the one I remember!
I miss this series :( More please.
I've seen another cool companion smoke from T spawn to smoke off A CT stairs. Really cool one. Jumpthrow from the corner of the first right-turn house.
02:05 " before you shart, shart, start shooting again.
I rofled a little too hard.
Im not making fun of you Warowl, but that was funny as hell
Good job with the videos and gj on almost 1 mil subs.
When I have someone review my demo I give them a game that I did well in. It gives them a chance to point out mistakes that I wouldn't notice. I could review my own demo of a game I did bad in and see my mistakes. My point is, just because the guy did well in the game doesn't mean he sent it as a brag.
these old tutorials are so useful
i am surprised you didn't show the molotov into shadow from palace.
Incase some1 plays down there, he'll get pissed :)
Either way, great video WarOwl
there is another way to play palace which is more risky and requires the standard smokes to be down but when they are down you can play hyper agressive on palace and get 2 quick kills while your team takes their attention by pushing ramp would not surgest since the things warowl said were the safest and probably the right call
Are you going to release the cast of Cloud9 vs Liquid? You said on stream that it was going to be out yesterday. Anyway, great video as usual!
7:30 Is it just me or did the Terminator theme play at this moment.
Just a quick tip:
Analyze your enemies. If their awper is always mid or jungle, or can just hit nasty shots, don't go palace or smoke jungle. I find it way more effective to go ramp. Even if they smoke ramp, flash in it and prefires the left side. Easiest area to push into A from.
I like the new render settings Warowl
my goodness! I had the same question as this guy in the last days xD
Thank you so much +TheWarOwl :D
You actually got ravn right, what I mean is that "ravn" is norwegian for raven. Good job WarOwl
a WarOwl video? 44 MINUTES AGO? OH BOY!!!! :D
Watched the whole video just to see your epic outro :)
@TheWarOwl, the movie was Heat. How could you forget the name, it's one of the best movies of all time, tut tut haha
Hello WarOwl,
I would like you to do a video series in which you teach us basic setups for some of the most played maps. Maybe teach us also how to react to a bombsite loosing streak. How should someone react to standard strats t's are doing and when to rotate.
Its up to you weather you do this, but i would enjoy it if my teammates would know such basic stuff :)
Little Freudian slip at 2:10 there warowl
;)
Those cherry mix blue switches...Nice man...
Wish I could play a competitive with you WarOwl, maybe message me if you have any free time? But I completely understand regardless. Great video and keep up your tremendous work, in my opinion your channel is underated, I'm glad to see you thrive.
Hey warowl. Thanks for all these Videos. I've learned so much about how to play counter strike and I'd probably still be silver if it weren't for your videos :)
I love this series :D
Hey what is the gamemode/console commands you are using when doing these videos? I think that would be very useful practising smokes sprays etc...
Goodfellas, WarOwl. You were thinking of the long take in Goodfellas.
This really helped me; I enjoyed it. Thanks Owl! :)
It may not completely eliminate the problem but it may cut it back substantially!
you can also molotov shadow/under-balcony from palace
hahaha right at the end there, GOODFELLAS!
+TheWarOwl I watched your "anglesTherories" andI think that when your are picking stairs, awper from jungle can see you even when you cant see him.
Was the movie you were thinking about "The Resevoir Dogs"?
+Brogrefarian Pretty sure it was Goodfellas
that JW impression tough.
2:07 "Gotta give it a little bit of time before you shart"
i lost it at the screaming eagle 21 seconds in
I don't have a demo to show but could you do one that can help explain good retakes of bomb site b on dust 2. I lose so many rounds just because I don't really know proper flashes to through and other stuff like that. If you could do that it would very helpful. Great video helped out a lot.
For anyone whos wondering, WarOwls "Talon" has 30893 kills shown on its stattrak metre
I can support you with demos from MGE :)) Tons of fun.
Yeah when i sent my demo where i asked for couple of tips/questions and definetely i wasnt showing of anything just got ignored and after that didnt even bother sending demos
was goodfellas in one take? anyway i knew immediately what movie you was talking about :'3
thank you WarOwl this is very good using the smokes my friends told me and this i will be able to play palace i used to peak it like that guy and get awped :D
the smoke you shown for connector/stairs is not good for people pushing palace, an AWPer can stand in jungle door and see over it to palace and not been seen. theres a better smoke that you throw further left and it lands deep into jungle so AWPer is completely smoked off
I got a question, i see pro players do this alot and i saw you do it in your solo que to Global elite which was shooting few bullets after throwing a flashbang and i was wondering why is that? is it to hide the sound of the flashbang hitting a surface?
hey warowl, i always get prefired and die very fast on ct side.. its maybe because i hold too obvious angles.. so i was hoping maybe you could show some spots that are not too obvious or predictable
Could you do a video over the difference, between NA and EU skill. I hear a lot of players say EU is way higher then NA, but I haveno idea if it's actually true or not. I'm playing mg2 EU btw (but improved my aim a lot lately and didn't play MM in a view weeks).
I dont know if its just me but i really like engaging without smokes and flashes because its more ninja like.. if you flash they rotate or just are prepared i dont know if thats good or not ^~^ would be nice if you tell me what your oppinion to that is
I got an idea: For the SQGE (solo que to global elite), why not download the match and record it VIA GOTV?
+TheWarOwl How do you hold down A site on Overpass, I have a difficult time even trying to position myself on the site
I am an unranked player but really want to get ranked yet I always lose and really don't like playing Inferno. Do you think you could do one of these videos on that map?
@TheWarOwl: It's Good Fellas. The movie title you forgot is Good Fellas :)
No owl vision for you Thelegalz Ravn!
Lol "you have to give it a little bit of time before you shart" -WarOwl 2015
