The mosquito guy gave me nightmares! Imagine this creeping down your dirt road at a crawl in the back woods of Florida pitch black middle of the night no street lights. Then be a kid imagining the tales from the crypt guy driving windows down with a cig in his mouth spraying chemicals. And having a curfew because of this guy.
It's weird because when I used to live in Dade City, he came around 3 times in one night. Now, he only comes around once since I live in a Wesley Chapel subdivision. Have to be lucky, lol!
One comes through my neighborhood every once and a while and It is just this HORRIBLE noise. And the worst part is that the truck comes at like midnight. At first I was soooo scared of it and and honestly I still am. But I’m glad those nasty creatures are dead.
I first discovered it when I was about 6, and it scared me a little bit, until I found out it was just a Ford Ranger with a sprayer on the back. 😅 The trucks they've been using for a lot of years now are the F150s.
Well it's 4 AM, and about 20 minutes ago this truck past my house (for the first time I know of) with that same sound and fog and orange and white lights. Was so confused and terrified of what was happening lol. Glad I know for the future I guess.
Mosquito ULV trucks don’t spray that late to 4am.There is a time frame and that’s between 7pm-2am, maybe little past 2am but no later because they can’t it’s against regulations and everything and where they spray gets monitored. That must not have been a ULV mosquito truck.
I used it to think it was some kind of monster with two arms that wave up and down in two different directions and I imagined it to be red it was weird
The loud noise coming from the sprayer is due to the engine running, the spray coming out of the nozzle, and the spray being under very high pressure. The sprayer they use here in Pasco County is called a Roots Rotary Lobe Blower.
I remember running to the window when I heard the mosquito truck driving through my neighborhood. It was always seemed surreal to me. Ours drove much slower than this one.
They still operate today, but because of the crazy weather changing constantly, there's not enough trap data at different locations for them to spray. They stop spraying for the rest of the year between November, and start again in March. I'll keep an eye out for them. 👍

That would be a little scary! Luckily the latest time I've ever seen them was around 11:00. It all depends on their route and their trap data where they need to spray. 👍
I heard the type they spray down south in LA and TX and FL, etc. is actually highly toxic and can be deadly to humans/pets/animals if large enough amounts.

It passes down my street every Thursday at 🕚 11:00 pm the noise is bad and it freaks me out
They usually come around my subdivision about 10:00, sometimes they come as late as 11:30 depending on their route.

They usually drive around 25 MPH so the chemicals can spread evenly in the air. Their speed also depends on the neighborhood.

Here in Florida where I live, they are the worst on a rainy night. But the truck does need to come back and spray.

The chemicals are pretty safe as long as you're not inhaling it. It doesn't affect me.
