They hit the nail on the head with how depression is, especially with that particular scene and what I believe vecna symbolizes
Omg I thought the same too! The song was perfect for that scene. I know someone who deals with depression and i was crying thinking about how she may feel trapped like Max was in that scene, but made it out of that darkness. I pray anyone dealing with depression makes it out.🙏🏾🙏🏾
I absolutely agree. Dear Billy had me in my feelings and seeing the lyrics of the song had me believe that that episode brought more awareness to depression. Perfect song.
I'll take it even further. To me the scene symbolized being a prisoner or victim of sin/destruction, and before it's too late, deciding to run back to God. The Devil represented by Vecna, doing anything possible to keep his hold on you. Dropping objects in order to destroy the believer and prevent them from reaching God's redemption. I've often felt like Max, as I'm battling with the Devil.

Kate Bush was a huge part of the soundtrack of my very young self & in the dreams of my older brother, I think she did very well in the Australian and New Zealand charts too.

It’s honestly such a beautiful use of the song in the show. SPOILERS It’s this traumatized girl’s favorite song that becomes the key to her old friends saving her life from a paranormal entity that feeds on unprocessed trauma. The meaning it has in the show has to do with: - Loss - Friendship - Healing - Running full speed toward your friends as you escape a violent hellscape before you’re killed, knowing the last thing you’ll hear is them screaming your name in grief and terror - Managing survivor’s guilt
And it has caught fire across social media. I’ve always loved that song and have it on my playlist. I’m so happy for her and grateful for her work and contributions to Music. Music never dies.
Its amazing what music can do for a scene and the audience when its applied properly. Thats why soundtracks are important to film and producation they can make or break an entire scene and/or intensify/mellow certain scenes regardless if the scene is matching the sound or not.
This and Wuthering Heights make Kate Bush one of the top 10 greatest artists of all time IMO. Not to mention her countless classics and masterpiece albums like The Kick Inside.
I've always thought "Hounds of Love" is her best album ever. it's got a continuity of theme and ideas and is just the most Goth thing, in the truest sense. "Running Up That Hill" is one of the strongest lead-ins for an album ever, too. "And Dream of Sheep" has always made me cry, for some reason, and "Under Ice" never fails to give me chills. I'm just so stoked that she's getting a whole new audience now!

It’s this traumatized girl’s favorite song that becomes the key to her old friends saving her life from a paranormal entity that feeds on unprocessed trauma.
The meaning it has in the show has to do with:
- Loss
- Friendship
- Healing
- Running full speed toward your friends as you escape a violent hellscape before you’re killed, knowing the last thing you’ll hear is them screaming your name in grief and terror
- Managing survivor’s guilt

Guitar solo was the best part on SE 4 ep 1 - baffled by this crap video = zero input from KB just more clickbait using Kate for adsense money

And it has caught fire across social media. I’ve always loved that song and have it on my playlist. I’m so happy for her and grateful for her work and contributions to Music. Music never dies.
And she still looks gorgeous her voice is timeless.
I wish more songs of that era would get some love too. A lot of hidden gems
I love Kate bush she always had such a unique voice I love her music even when she sang with Peter Gabriel
I'm currently listening to Don't Give Up! They compliment one another so well ❤️
Its amazing what music can do for a scene and the audience when its applied properly. Thats why soundtracks are important to film and producation they can make or break an entire scene and/or intensify/mellow certain scenes regardless if the scene is matching the sound or not.
i thank her for saving max’s life
One of my all time favourite songs, nothing short of a masterpiece
This song and Sadie's acting is literally 😍😍😍
I was an 80s teen, I forgot how much I loved this song back then. Since watching Stranger Things just recently 8-2022, I Love it. And I can't quit playing this song.
I was surprised I never heard it before and absolutely fell in love with it and related to it and I love the 80s
You love the 80s but didn’t hear running up that hill before?
What can I say, I have lived a sheltered life...
good music will never die
So this song is definitely gonna die.
@@nikolaskasberg8657 oh yeah, in about 2 months no one will listen to it. It's just a trend , not a good song. The song really makes the scene, but it's mid as shit. It's people wanting to look distinguished because "they now listen to old songssss" but they'd never find those old songs if they weren't implimented in those new trendy series.
Thank god, i was sick of people saying it's a good song. They just listen to It to look different.
@@felpops3673 Innit. None of them know who Kate bush even is it’s so annoying
@@339blackdiamond But what is the problem with people wanting to listen to an old song used in a TV series? A lot of people are discovering this song for the first time, and also it has been in the billboard top 10 for 4 weeks now and it is not dropping off any time soon.
I'm so happy for her, she's a beautiful soul. She has gained a new wave of lifetime fans too. Well deserved.
I’m an 80s girl and have always loved Kate’s amazingly unique music. I made sure my kids heard my music growing up, so they already knew and love this song.
Hundreds of songs are released every year. Sometimes, we just need a little reminder to jog our memory that these epic songs are out there 🎶🎶 This is one of them! Glad this masterpiece has been introduced to the younger generation.
One of my favorite songs, I first heard it when I was 9, so glad that more people are hearing it for the first time.
You're my age then. 🥳
@@RadioPsychicAstrologyByPepper oh, how old are you?
First time I heard Running Up That Hill was a cover use in Warehouse 13 during a very impactful and heartbreaking reveal, I’ve loved so many versions of that song, and Kate bush since.
Apparently I need to watch Warehouse 13 again!!!
i just got chills right now, that song fit perfectly for that scene.
I grew up listening to Kate Bush because my mum has always been a fan, so it makes me happy that a new generation is growing up with her music too.
Loved this song since the 80’s (being a 70’s baby). Was so shocked when I heard my kids listening on repeat! Got excited and posted about it on my FB- (yeah FB cause I’m old)that it’s good to hear young folks loving the song as much as I did back then. I also used to play my cassette mix tape on repeat for that track- til the tape was stolen along with my boyfriend at the times car. Ahhhh the memories. 🙃
I love the exposure alot of these classic songs are getting again and finally getting the proper appreciation they deserve.
The fact this came out 10 years before I was even born blows my mind. Timeless song!
I always loved this song since I was a kid (I’m in my 30’s now). Very compelling and passionate. Glad to hear it’s getting some traction again and found a new audience!🥰😉👌
Love her! Such an underrated artist
Underrated? Nope

Shes been my favourite artist since i was a kid. I bet ive listen to the hounds of love album 10000 times. Im so happy shes getting more recognition
The song definitely fits when you think about the lyrics and the character. Not to mention the song bops
I have loved that song, along with many of her other fantastic songs, for decades. It has always been a chart topper in my books!! The incomparable and beautiful Kate Bush. Often imitated, but never duplicated!! And never will be!! 👍🏾
I LOVEEEEE!!!!!!! When old songs get used in tv show/movies... they just have another feel to them...
I remember watching this as an 80s kid and fell in love with Kate. #katebush ❤️
Omg, when I came into my moms room listening to Kate, My mom was so shocked that I loved her so much. Who doesn't? LOVE YOU KATE
That song has never died...it will always be full of life
I love her! So glad the new generation has discovered her music
Aww! this is amazing! i mean who wouldn't be happy to have their song have life again
My dad actually got me into 80s music and I started to kinda drift off from it. Once I heard this song I got retracted back to 80s music and am very happy :)
Amazing how songs , even underrated songs that never topped before songs have pulled through the charts because of social media

it's an amazing song. I'm glad that stranger things used it.
Yay for Kate! So glad new folks are discovering her music
She owns all her own music a rarity in the 80's. She's makin bank and that just make me smile! :)
Always loved that song and wuthering heights since they first got released. Thrilled that my daughter now enjoys the music I grew up with 👍🏻
It really is so cool how things come back
I'm literally obsessed with song because it doesn't even have any curse words and it's clean
and this song even Max's Personality somehow I'm always listening to it.
Me Too!!!
I was a little kid in the 80's and we always had 80's music playing. Not sure why I don't recognize this song, but I'm so glad I'm discovering it now. It definitely deserves the recognition.
My mom graduated in '85, so 80s is her favorite music decade so obviously as a child, I would have to listen to it. I'm not really a fan of most 80s music, but this one was a rare favorite for me. Completely forgot about this song until the show blasted it back into memory
I’ve loved it since I was in the 8th grade and am so happy that young people are living it too.
She aged so gracefully, so happy for her to get a new crows of fans 💜
She was such a MASSIVE hottie back then holy shit
For real she's still beautiful
This song was absolutely perfectly placed!! Like chocolate and peanut butter!!
First time I heard her song was her wuthering heights. "Its me oh cathy" it was so beautiful but since she wasnt mainstream anymore i never thought to look up any other of her music until running up that hill became popular and now i heard army dreamers in animation memes and makes me realise i need to listen to her stuff asap
Too lazy to use Google....
@@isobeljames1328 Not at all. It's more like I didn't think about her until now because her stuff came out before I was born
Clicked for her reaction, got a nerd with head phones shouting at me! 🤦♂️
Bruh
Same😂 I was expecting her mostly
are you new to the internet?
Right? And a little spoiler to boot. Lame
her reaction lol, like she didnt get the headsup/royalty check while Season was being recorded/edited
I knew her army dreams’ song. I didn’t know about this legend
Me too! Use to listen to it when I was about 16 and cry, such an emotional song.
Withering Heights would be her biggest hit
Army dreamers is an amazing song just so heartbreaking and very true a great anti-war song
@@TASIAawful1 The first single of that album was "Breathing" An unborn foestus afraid of being born into a world of nuclear fallout. Who else writes this kind of stuff?
It’s great that a new set of generation have discovered Kate Bush. I discovered Kate in the late 90s early 2000s. She is incredible unique singer, great songwriter.
The song is so great and catchy man I’m surprised I haven’t heard it before the show
Now a certified UK number one hit (and it only took 37 years) ✊🏼
Imagine
She’s a fucking gangster what a banger.
I'm so glad the younger generation is discovering more of 80's music and learning to appreciate it. As someone who was born in the early 90s, I grew up listening to it and maybe I'm biased, but that was one magical decade for all kinds of music genres.
Running Up That Hill actually had a big resurge in 2012 when it was part of the London Olympic ceremonies as well. Great song
When it comes to songwriting there's different levels and at the top there's genius...Then there's Kate Bush.
I’ve been listening to kates music since i was around six and having it turn up in one of my favorite shows made me so happy. I love her music so much
Bro this song was playing everywhere u could think of. Its crazy that we revived an old song for like a month
For me, it was a very pivotal scene in Handmaid's tale, the song playing was Cloudbusting and i always go back to that scene to listen to the song in the context of the show
It's a song I've been obsessed with for years, so I was thrilled to hear it on ST! Of course I was 10 in 1985 so I'm old I guess lol.
no you aren’t old. That means you were alive at the same time of Freddie Mercury and i am so jealous of that

It’s also really hard to get Kate bush’s permission for songs and since she loved stranger things they let the producers do it
Surprisingly, I grew up through the '80s & I can honestly say I never heard the song on the radio.
I love it!!! So amazing 👏😍🙌
I remember listening to that song I was around 9 years old in 1985, my aunt in college loved it! Here we are I'm 46 and Kate is finally getting the airplay that song deserved in the 80s. This is pretty sweet.
