Riding it, but never washing it, by the looks of things. Damaged paint...how could you tell? Reminds me of something my dear departed mama used to say about clean underwear and Doctors offices!
After watching this video for this bike, if I had one of these models, that line would be getting replaced. I've seem many old rubber brake hoses, but never one with an actual break! Scary!!
HI. We are a group of Italian friends who own K1600 (including Marco who recently wrote to you). In addition to Marco, another one also had a brake failure (fortunately while stationary) and three others, including myself, after a careful visual examination we found the beginning of a break in the tube and steel strands. The break and/or the beginning of this always occurs at the same point. Can you tell me if there is a BMW recall underway in the USA? Thank you. Domenico
@@kirksmotorrad Thanks for the reply and report. We have already replaced the part with the new BMW model where they have modified the fitting where the breakage occurs. Good miles Domenico
Broken brake line...very rare. So that begs a few questions: what year bike and how many miles? Was it a true "complete brake failure" and if yes, how did he stop the bike without crashing? Back brake only would make for a long stopping distance. Not something you'd want to discover coming up to a busy intersection!!!😳
hello good evening, I am writing to you from Italy. I wanted to inform you that we have also encountered this serious problem with the front brake hose here in Italy. It happened to me while I was driving and risked having a serious accident. If you want I can send you videos and photos of my broken pipe. We contacted BMW to report this serious problem, but we received no help from them. And we replaced the new part at our expense. We also discovered that the piece of front brake hose BMW modified exactly in 2022 at the point where there is a break. HI
I by-poassed ABS on my K1200RS. Also...I use AUTOLEC code 5 brake fluid on all my cars and Motorbikes for 40 years! You don,t need to change it and it is harmless to paintwork!...Warton Lancaster UK
Your posts teach us more and more about our bike and this saves us from many problems. Respect Kirk. Nice beard bydway.
Nice find and repair
I took my '22 GTL in to fix the Quick Shift under warranty. There was a recall for a brake line clamp. They replaced it.

how many miles does the bike have

The lines of the GT are not made of rubber, it is stainless
steel, with black coating. Of course these can break too…..
Wow! Thanks, it looked like rubber. My mistake. @@frankaustel1042
