John Locke is so weird on the family matter IMO

If only men make contracts then there is no marriage if she can not sign or agree to contract.
Neither is strength reserved for men nor is good mentality.
He does leave quite a bit to be desired in my view on the matter of women who bring forth LIFE for all.
Remaining in Nature with God as your help as perhaps in Anarchy would be good if none would put the boot on the necks of those they are not in Compact/contract/covenant with. Especially if the Covenant God made with us is of a higher order than anything made by the hands of men.

In Locke's state of nature there is no reason why women cannot make contracts. Restrictions happen when people move into civil society/social contract and form particular agreements about how things will get done moving forward.
