Cutting off it's tail/head and spawning new enemies would be so cool in Nightrein considering it's focus on 3 player action, hope that concept returns 🙏

Would been cool to see how many more other demon designs they would've come up with if Fromsoft was able to continue development. Shame we ended up with a load of Taurus demons, Capra demons, and dragon butts.
Well you're supposed to cut the tail or head and then kill it to get the orange charred ring which reduces the lava damage to almost zero. The worst part is you're expected to do a hard-swap.

Really cool concept, is unfortunately that the in-game AI is a bit clunky and he just loop the same move most of the time, that also is not really a big threat and you can stay under it and keep hiting until it dies. I think the idea is that it is part of Ceaseless Discharge hand or finger, that grown into a sentient demon when it fell off, it also explain why Cealess have just one arm, that is also why the description state that it was born from the ring that Ceaseless used, it's true origins probably comes from the ring/hand where the ring was.
The first time i fought centipede demon, I was getting beaten into the wall so much that I unintentionally did the glitch where when he grabs you too close to the wall he glitches through it. Never felt good about that lol
I played a DS1 mod that gave you the lava ring before this fight so you didnt have to fight him on the island. I was really surprised by how much fun this boss is when tou arent fighting him from 1 foot away on a tiny island in the corner. Excited to see him get some love
I feel like fromsoft must have felt sorry for this boss, it had so much work put into it just for the entire fight to be ruined by the arena :( Putting it in nightreign will hopefully give it a second chance. The head cutting mechanic should have a chance to shine if you've got people attacking it from different angles.
So far, a lot of the nightreign bosses we've seen have some sort of mechanic to deal with multiple players. Centipede Demon has its cut heads spawing additional enemies, Freja might finally be able to split in two or at the very least attack with both heads at once, and the Cerebus boss seems to be able to switch between 1 and 3 bosses. This is all to say that I wouldn't be surprised if halfway through the fight with the Nameless King he gets off the King of the Storm and you have to deal with them both at once. I think this'd be a cool way to spice up the encounter without copy-pasting him directly from DS3, and it'd avoid having to play a cutscene mid-fight.
I find it interesteing looking at Centipede Demon's grab attack with it's belly and seeing how similar it is to the Gaping Dragon's grab, both in terms of the pose, the attack itself, and the Demon's legs making up where the teeth would be.
I've always been a fan of this fight despite the arena being an issue, but it's not that big of an issue. How i handle it: 1. Use Fire damage reduction stuff (armor, spells, rings to cross the two lava patches needed to get to the center island. 2. Try and bait out atracks that allow me to sever either the tail or head and kill the spawned enemy for the ring 3. Hotswap out one ring for the Orange Charred Ring to continue the fight with much more freedom to fight the boss. If you use the tools at you disposal this fight isn't that bad, plus its still one of From's best enemy designs visually.
This guy has a ton of cool stuff, but is stuck in an irritating, unflattering arena and dies too easy. Confident Nightreign will do him justice, at least better than his original appearance.
The "rare attacks" aren't actually rare, they're just only used at range while he's below 50% HP. It's just very unlikely that you'll get that far into the fight and then move back to long range
Now that I think about it I wonder what kind of boss music we will get for each one. Wonder if itll be music Elden ring already has. Which is lame. Remixes of the original boss's theme. Or original songs that go for field bosses and other bosses in small groups
I remember a video somewhere stating that the centipede demon was originally planned to be fought on top of the undead parish instead of the bell gargoyles. Don't know quite know to feel about that. I also remember a video discussing that Lost Izalith was originally going to have poisonous swampy terrain just like lower blighttown instead of all of the lava everywhere. Centipede demon fight would've been a lot better in my opinion if the arena was full of poison swampwater (or regular swampwater) instead of lava. More fire-based attacks and less jumping would've been better too. Lastly, picture this: Leading up to the centipede demon's boss area, there are maybe half a dozen of those severed centipede tail enemies scattered about. And the corpse of a Taurus demon or a rock worm just to set the mood. Not making predictions or anything like that, just thinking about what could have been.
You know nightreign is going to be a wild ride when they bring back Solemiargoylelan of all people, that means every DS boss has the potential to be featured AND revamped. Which is so godamn impressive!
I think they're bringing it back in particular because it works well for co-op. Previewers have already mentioned it splitting into several parts in Nightreign as we also see in this video. I would expect they want to bring back ones that suit team based combat and also old bosses that deserve a second chance after the initial distaste towards their first implementation. In a way I'm expecting more of the less popular bosses to return and get revamped so they have another chance. Many of the designs of these less popular bosses are still cool and have potential, perhaps they are trying to realise that potential.
It doesn’t make any sense for there to be multiple centipede demons in DS3 because I’m fairly certain there was only 1 in existence. It seems fairly obvious it’s meant to be the missing arm of Ceaseless Discharge. It’s even got rib bones sticking out of its back. Yet in all this time I’ve never seen a channel pick up the Centipede Demon model and put it in the open arm slot to check the size comparison.
I thought it was just a demon manifestation of the orange charred ring that Ceaseless just dropped it into the lava by mistake. We see he has both arms in the fight, one is just embedded into his chest and he rips it out if you grab his sister's clothes. Still doesn't make any sense for there to be more than one though
They look so much more gross without the fire effects.
Yo, why you gotta be like that?

Love how his concept design calls to his origin as a ring
Origin as Ceaseless' fallen hand that had that ring.
With come recolouring and the correct particles good old Centipede Demon can easily be re-contextualized as a scarlet rot creature in Nightreign.
