I'm still trying to figure out how in 5 years Burke amassed enough money to buy up everything the Collins family took generations to attain. Considering he is an ex-convict that would be no easy task, especially back then when there was such a huge stigma attached to being a convicted criminal. It's hard enough now, but back then people were a lot more judgemental about such things. Thank-you for posting these videos. It has been a dream come true to get to see Dark Shadows from the beginning. I have been enamoured with the show since I was 10 (some 36 years ago). It used to come on in repeats, but I would only get to see it in the summer because of school. I never imagined I would actually be able to watch all of it from the beginning. I also had no idea there were episodes pre-Barnabas so that was a most welcome surprise. Thank-you again. You are an angel! 👼
I had to just listen to that one. Not much to miss but Joe. He's so handsome! Caroline is such a ditz for chasing after Burke. She definitely has the Collins' crazy genes.
Eventually, years from this current story arc, they will go into parallel time. Interesting PT idea: Burke Devlin takes over Collinwood, drives out the family -- and gets a lot more than he bargained for!
I had forgotten most of this after all these years. Hasn't anyone ever told Caroline not to chase after men, especially older men? Seems the more she is warned about Burke, the more she chases him. Look out Caroline.
If Burke ever did manage to buy out and overthrow the Collins family, Carolyn would ditch her beloved mother in a second to marry Burke and become the new mistress of Collinwood!
There is a subtle but strong attraction between Burke and Elizabeth and had Paul Stoddard's whereabouts been known before Burke came back, she could have been Mrs Elizabeth Devlin. By 1966, Joan Bennet was considered one of the most beautiful and talented actress in the world, especially by her costars on Dark Shadows.
***** But this kind of goes against Burke's tastes. He tends to prefer younger women (Caroline, Vicky) or those about the same age (Laura). Just a thought,I welcome your response.
no I've been watching all of the episodes from 0 0 0 1 every series, now in this episode the daughter is sitting there watching as this gentleman is about to destroy the Collins family. And she so giddy she's not paying attention to what's been going on, she's more worried about powdering her nose.
I love revisiting this show after nearly 50 years of my first viewing ! I am hooked once again, and invite all DS fans to visit me on FB. Dale Smith, Saco, Maine
I've learned there are more than 1200 episodes of Dark Shadows. Is there any way to own them all at LESS than $2 per episode? Obviously the expense for the entire series would be prohibitive at $2 per episode.
I think you can buy the entire series on Amazon for about $400. I watched many episodes on RUclips and found many others on Hulu. The episodes on Hulu started at episode 210 I think. That's when barnabas first comes on the show. I think they went up to episode 540 and used to be free. Now you have to join Hulu ($7.99 a month I think.)
Thanks, I have seen that many are on Hulu (I pay) and I am watching the early episodes on RUclips. I hope I can see both the early episodes (pre-Barnabas) and the episodes where Vicky is somehow transported to the past. I haven't seen either of these range of episodes. I jut hope that between all sources I can view them all. I will look at Amazon to see if there is a complete set. Thank you!
I hope you get to see the all too. This show is fantastic. Very imaginative. Later in the series the also go into parallel time!! When I saw that for the first time I thought "What the heck just happened??!!" It's priceless and mesmerizing
I live by the sea, and we are all FISH eaters! What is this with all the rare and medium steaks and hamburgers that people eat in Collinsport! (By the way, how does Carolyn stay so thin with all those steaks and hamburgers and French fries she scarfs down?)
The moment Burke sees Carolyn: priceless

Joe and Carolyn = a good match.
Burke and Carolyn = disaster waiting to happen.
Sam: I've never been in this room before. It's beautiful.
Elizabeth: it's dark and gloomy and you know it. Get to the point.
Lol!
+Diana Gruver
Wasn't that a great line? These early episodes have some great scripts.
Excellent one liner
I dig those tattered frumpy sport coats that Sam Evans wears. He definitely looks the part of a middle aged, starving alcoholic artist.
Hardly looks starving!
Thank u so much

"Everyone should keep a diary, from the day they are born." Really? lol

Yes, I think the same...
That mic blooper :D
That scared me more than anything I've seen on this show so far. I had my head phones on and it was really loud.
Joe should bust a move on Elizabeth. She is a cougar.
Jack Demoss Indeed!
Jack Demoss She hasn't had any action in 18 years, either. He could rekindle her fire easily.
she was an amazing, alluring and witty beauty as a young Hollywood actress.
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!! But in reality, Joe would be more interested in Roger and he in him too, sadly.

+tribbletroubles212
She's got poise and class in spades. I'm enchanted by her (Elizabeth).
***** Elizabeth was truly a LADY, and nothing less!
Sounds like a sequel waiting to happen! Dark Shadows: The New Mistress of Collinwood.
Liz almost gets conked by the mic boom at 0:47
lol
I guess Liz uses the phone a lot- considering she hasn't left the grounds in years, LOL.

And what a lovely nose it is!!! YUMMMMM

atlantic 11561 High metabolism?
Janadu Or fooling around with Burke? :D
By the way, great to see a fellow Gumby fan!
atlantic 11561 Not to mention all the doughnuts they eat with coffee and cream!
Joseph Arturi Truly!
fingers crossed that joe and elizabeth hook up at some point
Spoiler alert: Joe doesn't hook up with Liz. Sorry.
James Blair ... any relation to Nicolas Blair?
