I want to clarify that your GRAPHIC SETTINGS DON'T AFFECT YOUR PING (with one caveat)! What it affects is your frame rate/fps that is how smooth the game appears to you, not your lag. --------- Science time: --------- For most online multiplayer games the graphics are client side, essentially, they only run on your device and the data is not sent to the server, instead the only information sent to the server is your position in the match along with the actions you are doing. This means a smaller package of data is being sent. Netease has put in patch notes in the past that this seems to be the technology they are using, although I cannot completely confirm that it is the case. The only caveat with this is that graphics can affect the ping of the other players in the match if the client's device is having problems displaying the graphics so much that the game freezes every so often, meaning that no data is being sent to the server and the other players in the match must also wait for a ping from the server as to what is happening in the match. This would only happen if your device were freezing every so often in the match and would make everyone in the match suffer. ---------
Playing in Leo's memory with low/performance graphic is surely such a pain, I'd always try to put it in high mode (hoping that my phone can handle it) because I just hate how easy the dark skin can blend in well with the dark surrounding in low making it difficult to see the survivor, the blood trails or the crow in there as a hunt. Especially when you played as Joseph, those black and white ambience just make it even harder to see in such map.
I feel like my game gets laggy when I turn on higher graphics. Also the game itself suggests me to change to lower graphics due to my game lagging and freezing even more often
Low? I used performance for 2 years because my phones frame rate dropped at LOW graphic. Even at performance it's not even smooth. Like all the time, when a survivor is eliminated or when I summon my shadow as hell ember first time in a game, my game freezes at one single frame for like 4 seconds.
I always play on low because some ambient effects are not helping at all. The fog sometimes cover the survivor/ hunter's silhouettes from afar I almost can't see from the smoke covering mem but I always put the resolution setting on 0.8; lower than that you can't even the the cipher antennas are shaking or not. The accessory effects can affect gameplay too. Huge accessory disadvantage is Clerk's A accessory.
It is a lot more obvious in the red church, so many details were removed in the performance compared to high. And in the waiting lobby, the high quality has a cooler effect when you change characters.
From this video I would recommend trying: "High" + 0.8 resolution + anti-aliasing off. That might help your fps to be above 60. If that isn't low enough, then I would try lowering the resolution to 0.7 or 0.6. If that is too much, then put the resolution back up to 0.8 and try "Low" graphics. What I am trying to give you here is as little compromise in visual quality for the best performance possible.
@@MerryCoffee Get back to me with your results (do tons of matches over a long period of time to get a good idea of if it affected your ping or not). If it really did affect your ping noticeably come back to me, as Netease could be using a different technology that I had assumed they were.
@@BBlackPhoenix Hmm sadly i’m getting ping spikes and fps drops using 0.8 and high, and even just using 0.8 performance :( but that might just be post maintenance lags- Edit ; i’ll get back to you in a few days if the issue persist !
When you used any graphics excluding the high graphics, my ping is normal but i get high ping spike when i used high graphics so i think it depends on your location connecting to your servers too
I am unsure what the best graphical settings are for competitive use, this game doesn't have massive grass patches that appear differently depending on your graphical settings, so you should be fine with setting the quality at whatever maximises your frame rate on your device. Higher frame rates are linked with a higher competitive viability, even if minorly.
Not 100% sure this is true, but performance graphics sometimes seems to not load in scene objects that are further away, so you may be able to see survivors across the map sometimes better on performance
Phoenix do you have any tips to lower the ping since everytime i play idv its always higher than 100ms whilst in any other game i don't get ping higher than 30ms.
If you live in Europe there is nothing you can do to get below 100ms, that is because their server is in the US. Your data needs to travel under the ocean to the US and back, so that is scientifically as low as it can go. To get it as low as you physically can though, it's best to make sure your connection is fast (upload and download speed), make sure your router is in gaming mode if it has one and if you are playing on PC, have your pc plugged in via Ethernet.
Graphics don't affect your ping, as the graphics are client side (meaning on your side) and don't get sent to the server, only your location on the map and actions get sent. So turning down your graphics is only helping with your framerate (essentially how often the game is showing you a new picture of what is happening in the game). As long as your game is above 60 fps (lowest 30) then you should be dandy, you can check your in-game fps using a game overlay if your phone has one.
with my Samsung A03 which has only 64gb storage, 4gb ram and a unisoc t606 processor I have to play constantly at the lowest graphics 💀 it doesn't lag though. high graphics sure are pretty but also with the lowest it's playable
As a Photographer main, if I use "performance" on Arms Factory or Lakeside I'm even blinder than I usually am, but if I put it on "high" I lag. My terrible EU ping also doesn't help 🥲

Ive always played on low graphics and lowest resolution but with hugh fps On, for me the game was really smooth
Not sure if you can do it from low performance but in high performance you can see survivor silhouette from across the map! Good for wu chang mains
I play wu on low and for me it’s easier to do this on low because the map in the distance isn’t loaded, only survivors are!
low graphic is better for gameplay because it makes the maps brighter so you can see the hunter/survivors easier
I’m so thankful for this because I was wondering how all of the graphical settings compared to each other. You’re the best Phoenix
I'm glad it was useful, it was an interesting test for me lol

with the normal one you can easily see the hiding survivors, though i changed to high because in the normal one you cannot see the ciphers shaking
I used low for a year 😓😓

They rly did a good job in the settings preserving key elements of the game though. I did play on performance on phone cuz it heats up and high on pc.

My graphics look weird in high graphics, the characters have no shadow and look very bright
I wonder if it benifits the hunters to play on low? Maybe it makes it easier to spot survivors?
i played on low, and i can say yes
Why dont i get the effect my graphic is high pla help
They should make a super low mode lol
