I see more and more college teams shifting to 6-2 formation. I personally think that's better than 5-1 unless you have a REALLY tall setter with good hands, which most teams don't have.
i think its just harder for hitters to adjust to 2 different setters and a shorter setter who can dump + consistent is better than 2 setters who cant be offensive
At college level, blocking is the most important, most setters even they are tall are not good blockers. Especially they/setters have to block outside hitters which usually are the best hitters.
