Grew up in Astoria NY and moved to Bergen 15 yrs ago. I think in general the younger you are NY is great, however once you get older and have a family NJ is the better place to be especially if looking to buy a home. Cost of homes in Queens is $1M+, for the equivalent home in Bergen is around 600k. Way of life is easier in NJ, i appreciate it here more now that I’m older and raising a child. One thing I do not miss from NY-including the outer boros is the lack of street parking. Absolutely hellish.
Another great, informative video, Jackie! I grew up in Bergen County. Still love it, and couldn't agree more. I want to move back so bad. I still went into the city to enjoy the theatre, restaurants, and the tree at Christmas, but Jersey was great as far as cultural diversity, education, and entertainment. Sure, it's expensive compared to where I live now (in the south), but sometimes you get what you pay for.
Im from Edison. I was born and raised there. I loved it. I remember being able to walk LITTERALLY everywhere. Edison aint that expensive. I lived in a 4 bedroom house for 450k(at that time). The location was also really good. Every weekend my family would go to new york philly atlantic city or maybe even on a road trip to pittsburgh. Sometimes we would take the only "high speed rail" to boston or the nations capital. The first 4 years we didnt own a car which saved us a lot of money. I forgot to mention on how DIVERSE it was. It was so cool experiencing other culuters as well as a person with immigrant parents. Nj is litterally the best state. Have a lot of old friends there.
I absolutely LOVE BOTH states for different reasons. I live in Morris county now but grew up in Kearny, we also vacation near Lake George. We go to a ranch called Rydin Hy Ranch and it's absolutely amazing!!! VERY VERY different from where we live but yet not that far. I personally LOVE the city life more, however raising my children here in Jefferson township is absolutely amazing. It may only be 30 min(jersey driver here...lol) from Kearny, Jersey City, Newark, and about 45 min from NYC (without traffic) it seems so different.
I grew up in western PA, moved to NYC (Queens) after high school, then got married and moved to NJ when we had kids. I think NYC is more fun if you're in your 20s. There are also good jobs there (if you have the education, connections, etc to get them). But even with a good job, you're probably going to be living in a shoebox, unless you're in the top 1-2% of income earners. That's the best part of NJ. There's still access to good jobs, and you can always commute to Manhattan to work, but you can afford to get a house. I can take my kids on the weekend to NYC, or the water park at the dream mall, or to cape May/wildwood (as we recently did for the first time this summer! FUN! Way better than I anticipated), etc. I can have access to all of this while still affording to have a house. What I DO miss about NYC is the restaurants. Sure, there are good ones in NJ -- way more than where I grew up in western PA -- but there's still more options in NYC than NJ, IMO.
Hi Jackie - LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! I’m an agent in FL and saw someone posted on the You Tube Facebook page about your editing and they were right. Can you share with me where you find your sound effects and b-roll? I’m not even moving and watched it all the way through. Great work!
Concerning major league sports well NJ still has the NJ Devils which defeated the NY Rangers in the NHL play-offs just a few weeks ago. I admit that I'm not a NY fan and I'm a NJ Devils fan
I like. New Jersey better because in New York there’s so many bad stuff happening and shooting happening and it’s so crowded and it’s expensive and there’s many more.fun stuffs in New jersey than New York in my opinion and I think New Jersey drivers are better than New York Drivers plus. And people have to live in apartments mostly there are houses but not like New Jersey and it’s safer in New Jersey than New York New York is like so loud and it’s calmer in New Jersey and I like New York but all these reasons is my true opinion And New York there’s so many rats and like New York is known for the rats also New Jersey has alot of public schools unlike New York. And I agree New Jersey offers better quality and better managed And this is my opinion
I plan to move to Livingston, NJ and I find out the Livingston TWP housing prices so high, even though other county was doing short sell, drop prices, etc but Livingston housing still so high, therefore, try to find out why, and Livingston still worth to buy the house and live there? Please help
Can I reach out to you for information/assistance with relocating from NYC to NJ? Although it seems like a bad idea at the moment, my husband and I would like to purchase our first home.

I like NY State better as a state, but I find that NJ offers better quality and is better managed. I wouldn't have a problem living in NJ.
Thank you so much I learn so much from your channel thanks❤
You’re so welcome!
Originally from Long Island, been to Jersey many times, and they both seem very similar to me. I live in MA now, and I live it much better.
MA is better than the other two, but it's too boring, generic and expensive.

Hello Ty What do this mean Do they have carpet in more homes or apartments in Nj?
There is no law in NJ requiring carpeting in an apartment.
I don’t think there’s a law. It’s usually the apartment buildings rules.
