I think one of the biggest reason for NDA being able to expedite infrastructural projects is that it has tightened the screws of psudeo social activists, urban naxals who every other day will block roads in the name of peaceful protests and would halt the construction process...also the reason why so many attacks are done on india with so called deteriorating press freedom in India is a way of these anti indian people trying to vent their frustration out cause their agenda is not working.

A lot of infra is NOT blocked by any social activists / urban naxals but by politicians themselves. I think the common man (voting for any party) wants better life, the social activists want to do good, so do engineers, doctors, accountants, laborers, business owners. The problem is mainly politicians themselves.
Let's remember that we (the people who are not politicians) are a team and we want better lives for all of us. The ones who have been historically responsible for bad governance are the people in the govt themselves, esp the politicians from ALL parties.
Case in point - A friend who disagrees with you is still a friend. That is what social activists do. They have a point of view which has to be heard, not dismissed, similar to how you would listen and understand a friend who disagrees with you.
On the topic of freedom of press, we are a 'free' country. When anyone tells you that there is a deterioration of that freedom, look at that information as a fact independent of who is saying it. Again, it takes a LOT of common people to make life better. Politicians come and go.

But some how they were thankful to Nehru ji as because of him one bridge was built over Brahmaputra near Guwahati ( Saraighat bridge ). When I was young I heard that there would be another bridge over Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh ( Bogeebill) . Time has gone and I was compelled to convince that such project may take long time to complete as our local politicians communicate to us. So our mindset are developed that way.

All the subsequent centimeters and kilometers of highway, railways should be attributed to him. Any airport taller than 1 inch should be credited to Nehruji. Our present supreme leader Rahulji woke up all night during the day to make sure people have all the facilities they are enjoying today. And for the power sector, i do very well remember the 2012 blackout. Only if you would have made any investments in power sector we would not to suffer 2-3 day power outage.
Only if you were to actually save some money for those capital intensive projects. Why save? Because most of the money was going in the pockets so the savings were only available to spend on doing some actual good.

But for policy paralysis and detached attitude, these could have at least been completed by UPA I&II. It is Mr.Modi's result oriented approach that one can see projects getting a firm closure. Also Print should do a story on Big Projects launched since 2014 and update the subscribers on its status. This will clearly establish which Govt's performance is better and which one worked on a mission mode.

The issue that all of us conspire to conceal is this. 'Development economics' was always a scandal filled, political- rent driven, vested interest -controlled & 'to be milked for ever' political enterprise. Politics was and perhaps still is the safest business enterprise in India. Our system had perfected this gangrenous framework into the most spiritual of public pursuits. The politician-bureacratic nexus, NGO-activist nexus, sheer lack of public belief in its ability to demand accountability from politicians and bureacrats , zero expectation of actual outcomes - all these defined our reality so far. Modi has just changed that by his INSANE focus on execution & delivery. He has attacked the cobwebs by a 360 degree approach , spending his political capital to bulldoze all these roadblocks. He has succeeded in creating a threshold of public awakening and aggregation of energies. That constituency of self belief on our national project has been secured - miraculous as it may appear. It seems pretty clear that the old politics of patronage, privilege and entitlements will not be allowed to remain due to the sheer force of public opinion. This is an undeniable tectonic shift which the poorest in the country have understood. Rest is detailing.
