Try to tap into the character development from the start. The character starts as an energy ball amidst a great number of energy balls . As the story progresses, it gets out as an entropic sphere changing shape and form into a cube, only reaching the humanoid form towards the end. While this is happening, you'll see a lot of bits and pieces that will make sense along the way. The world building is done sensibly - there's meaning behind almost everything you see. Try watching it like a short movie with the music being the narrative driver. It should make more sense to you then. May be down the line the band could release an explainer too.
