Glenn, you're killing it lately. Love your content, and I (as an owner of one) am glad to see the babyface pro getting some love. I watched Warren's video with the Leapwing guys and I am so glad there is finally an alternative to rbass and maxbass, and with more tweakability. These new plugins also sound like they would fit very well in a master chain.
Dude!!! Haven't been watching in a while.....been busy. MAN!!! You are looking good!! I haven't watched for about three months and you are looking great. That keto is kickn ass bro. Keep up the good work!!
Excellent! Holy crap does that make a difference. I had my back to the screen during the Rush segment and the change was dramatic and easily noticeable. Polish is the perfect word.
@@leapwing no need to thank me. You make good stuff. Warren Huart turned me on to your plug-ins with a video he did from his channel. I hope Glenn can do the same for someone on his channel.
Imean, no moaning but you have to admit there's a conflict of interest, that doesn't mean the review will not be good or invalid by any means but it's good he gets it out of the way upfront which honestly is to his credit and I'm more likely to scale back the size of the grain of salt I take with the review.
Woah that snare preset at 13:00 melted whole mix into some bilion tons of steel :o it adds tone of low mid tone to the snare as well as it's naturall reverb - Robinson's style late 90's records :D
I love spicy mastering plugins and finishing plugins because I have all the tools I need already for general mixing but some bus magic is always something worth having.
Holy shit that snare is huge!!! Like a punch in the face! That's what I aim to eventually achieve with my mixes! Also did you have some side chain ducking going on on that kick? It really popped out of the mix! Very very nice
Looking forward to your Pultec shootout, I have the Klark version and it is wonderful. Have watched some other shootouts and the differences are negligible at best. Stoke to see what your results are!
Cant hear a difference from the stage one on a phone which is actually great! Most stereo widening thins out where they are while making them feel more spread out, but in mono it kills that track and makes it feel thinner.
Haven't noticed a difference between it and Ableton's stock unity either, but it's got a cool interface. I don't think the algorithm is any different from any other good stereo wieners
I am very particular about my stereo mix when it comes to drums but I notice your hi hat is in the centre on both these mixes. Is this down to hats in the snare mic or what? Greetings from Scotland!
Dynone seems like a must-have. Was this a free one? I like how it is Eq-based compression vs. "traditional" threshold.. edit x2 Dynone isn't free. "Couple hundred BAucKs"
If you are using reaper try the xcomp, there is a built in preset called supersolid 2 that is amazing and does preety much what the dynone is doing there. I do think you can download the reaper plugin pack for free as well without having reaper, Glen did a great review on those a few years back.
The best I can do at the moment is one SM57 and a behringer xenyx 1204usb mixer using Reaper. I’m loving the tone out of my amp but it sounds lifeless and tinny straight out of the mixer. What’s something I can do to improve the sound before doing anything in Reaper/ what you’ve presented in this video?
So essentially the Dynone is doing the same thing that you would get by creating a parallel compression channel without having to manually do it?? Still kinda new to this, but definitely seems to have the same results I'm getting with that process. Killer shortcut.
Root one sounds good, but as soon as you popped it in, the compression changed, and seemed to be over compressing as well, the guitar punch and detail got a little lost.
Wow, your mixes just keep getting better! Here's a question - how often do you use multiple mics on guitar cabinets for metal? (Other than the Fredman) Micing with a SM57 combined with a ribbon seems to be a popular combination.
Why would that matter in the grand scheme of things? That's like hearing a really awesome guitar tone coming out of an amp and going, "the real question is...what does your guitar sound like NOT plugged into the amp?"
@@StatusMusicDesign I ask this because I see the massive amount of processing he already has on his tracks, and I'm wondering what they sound like without all of that. How good is the tone before adding the polish?
What a price for a couple of toys. Surely they can do some heavy lifting but if you have some proper production/dsp knowledge you will know that you can achieve these results with just plain simple multiband compressor with dry-wet control and eq with mid/side mode. If you want to spend money you will be better of spending it on more feature rich Izotope Neutron or Fabfilter stuff. Make sure you buy them on discount thou. To conclude - knowledge will help you avoid "stupidity" tax.
Respectful disagreement on the affect of the the plugins on the drums in that Rush track. I mean, did it make a difference, yeah, and mayble you were just trying to show that, but the kick, imho, is too pronounced. For the genre, at least. To me.
I have to address the elephant in the room: how can you put DynOne v3 on the MASTER bus without setting the filter algorithm to "MASTER Quality Filters" setting!!1?!!?!? ....in lieu of "Ultra Quality Filters" setting???!! OMFG if you think it sounded good on Ultra, it would have sounded like D2A/A2D round robin loop chain HARDWARE on the Master filter setting!!! Gain staging with Boost UrsaDSP + Flatline along with this??? Oh man....the perfect in-the-box marriage!
A bit pricey. Most of viewers would not be able to even think of buying this. there are many other plugs that can do most of this for way less. Oh, I love your vids and FU! Z.K. a 70 year old fan.
