Floor is my top female vocalist in metal, and I completely agree that she should be in Nightwish, I cannot think of a better person for that job. However, I like this cover very much. If I like a certain song with one singer, it doesnt mean I have to dislike other versions ;). On the contrary, I have these two beautiful versions of the song, and I choose which one to listen to according to my mood. Win-win situation for me.

Some people might get angry at me for this, but she's better at operatic singing than Tarja, and despite the fact that she's a quite massive dramatic voice, she still has that softer, emotional edge which other operatic voices in metal mostly lack.

Great version. Very nice. I've enjoyed every vocalist Nightwish has had, and my favorite album is Dark Passion Play, with Anette. But I think the best fit, to do justice to all the material from each era, is Floor. She crushes it. So it worked out perfectly. And I really like Anette's new gig The Dark Element. Fits her perfectly! Everyone wins.

LOVE Elizes voice on Nemo! I know why she ticked off comments on her audio upload,some people are just too darn negative and dramatic on YT,spreading hate and nonsence. Elize over Anette any day of the week though. A petite woman,with a beautiful cute voice,but man oh man can she push that voice to be heard. That shows me dedication,passion and hard work laying behind it. Unlike artists like Britney Spears who allways was more concerned of selling herself as a sexualized object with playback live. If she just sang with the voice she had..... There is a long way up to Floor,even with Tarjas strong dramatic operatic sounds. But its just silly to compare anyway. But technically? A much stronger voice live then Anette has,just a shame that they found her abit too young when she auditioned. But knowing the outcome now,Floor in Nightwish and Elize in Amaranthe....it was for the better. Get to admire theyr performances at the same time,in 2 great bands!
the only thing I find shocking about Elize's voice in this song is you can really hear her accent come through and it's not as noticeable when she's with Amaranthe. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, quite the opposite actually. But I am glad she wasn't drawn into the fan wars and all that drama with Nightwish.

For Nightwish, the perfect fit, is Floor Jansen. Her vocal range can handle the higher pitch, operatic notes, and she definitely can handle the more pop based sound of Anette Olzon. I feel for Anette, cos most fans didn't give her a fair shake, taking over for someone with a voice like Tarja Turunen! But Amaranth & Bye Bye Beautiful, along with Storytime were good songs for Anette's skill set!! JMO!

Anette's Dark Passion Play is the most sold metal album ever in Nightwish's home country Finland (5 platinums), her albums are globally 2nd and 3rd best selling after Tarja's "once". Professional critics loved her albums, and her songs are most wieved NW-songs in RUclips. Zelous Floor fans tell this myth Anette wouldn't be loved, but that's only true among zealous Floor/Tarja fans.
GamerDares Wins Anette had the instrumentation redone because she couldn't keep up with the instrumentation of the original version of Nemo. Also you cannot compare her to Floor and Tarja while since they're not even in the same genre of music... x.x
That's why she perfectly fits in Amaranthe. We got used to her voice being backed up by growling that it does feel awkward to rely entirely on her clear voice.
Better than Annette, but not Floor. Had Tuomas chosen her over Annette all those years ago, who knows if there would have ever been Floor with Nightwish or Elize with Amaranthe. Things have a way of working out.
Nobody sings this like Tarja. I loved the acoustic version Anette did live too. This is really beautiful too. Amaranthe are an amazing band and Elize is an amazing vocalist
Hmmm... I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean, I love Elize and Amaranthe, but... I don't know, after 9 years of only hearing Tarja's voice on the studio version... I dunno, I think this is too much of a change for me to process in one listen. That said, if she had gotten in, I'm sure Tuomas would have worked the same magic he did with Anette and written a masterpiece around her voice. Sterling effort on the video too, done a bit of editing myself so I know how much of a pain it can be to sync everything up, but you did a great job!

The voice sounds very good, but i don't think the song was meant for a mezzo. The only color that can nail it is a soprano. It's a very gentle song. This voice fits into something more brutal, like Amaranthe, say.

Elize has a wonderful upper range to her voice! IMO, it's not fair to compare her to Tarja since this song was written with Tarja's voice in mind. It's worth nothing that the other two singers that Nightwish brought on board were/are unable to match Tarja's version of this song. Basically, the point is that very few people COULD match Tarja with this song - instead, enjoy what this singer was able to do; I know I did : )

Actually the band voted, and they all voted for Anette. Tuomas tells this in interview. But I like Elize and I think she would do great with many Nightwish songs. Actually she saved Nightwish's behind in Denver, when Anette was taken hospital, Elize and Alyssa came to help Nightwish and did the singing. There's a (bad audio) video of it.

This video is the perfect "conflict of interest". I love the old Nightwish, I love Elize, I love this kind of music.
Considering all the high notes in this song are created by computer because Elize can't actually hit them, nor can she sing lyrical ("operatic")....well, I'm glad she wasn't chosen for NW.
She can hit very high notes, don't worry about that. Plus, there is a live video of her singing this song with Nightwish, if you were not aware of it, and her vocals are better than studio version. She screwed up few parts because she was reading lyrics from a sheet, but that's it. I don't know why would you be glad that she was not chosen, I'd rather have her voice on DPP and Imaginaerum than Anette's. Not to mention that she has a better stage presence, headbangs, and so on.
It's not bad but it's not great, either. You wanna hear a great audition tape, check out Annette doing Ever Dream. Nailed it! Too bad she couldn't sing it as well live.

To think, if they had picked Elize instead of Annette we could have avoided that era. But Nightwish may not have Floor now and Amaranthe may not exist.
