7 and 3 sent chills down my spine. Any goaltender can make that great 'initial' save sometimes, but stoning those 2nd or 3rd shots which SHOULD be a sure goal is what makes Marty a legend. Nice video.
Yes he can reach 600. I am so glad I got to see this historic milestone happen live (thank you NHL Network and Center Ice!). The greatest goalie ever just cemented his place in the record books. Also some serious props the Elias. The crowd gave him a wonderful ovation completely ignoring the Chicago goal that followed soon after his assist. All that is needed now is a Cup and it will be a perfect season.
Being a Boston Bruins fan, watching Cheevers, Dryden, and even the Russian Tretiak play, etc,, I gotta admit I think you're right on this one. Brodeur was a MONSTER in the net..
When i was 9 i watched marty play, first nhl game i ever saw. Im 13 now, been playing hockey for 3 years, and loving it. Being a goalie is a lot more fun if u play like number 30.
It's not just the players, it's also the system. Brodeur has played behind two of the greatest defensive defensemen in NHL history in Stevens and Niedermayer, not just All-Stars, we're talking HOFers here. Add in the trap and the fact that NJ was a pretty high-scoring team during the late 90's and early 00's and you have a perfect situation for any goalie to be successful.
I'm not sure if there's a legend in any sport who's as under appreciated outside his home markets (in this case amongst New Jersey fans and his fellow Montrealers) as Brodeur is. His entire career has seen people doing their best to discredit his mind-blowing accomplishments and talent. Haters gon'na hate, I 'spose.
Brodeur is the best goalie the NHL has ever had. I absolutely hate the Devils, but I can't get enough of watching this guy play. He is amazing. Anyone who disagrees really needs to stop watching baseball.
Marty, by far, is the most underrated, underappreciated athlete in New York-area sports history. He doesn't get nearly the recognition as he should for someone of his talents, especially in the media market he plays in. Maybe he likes it that way, but I grew tired of the scrubs across the river getting all the ink and airplay a long time ago.
Ok buddy, you might say something like that because Henrick is the first quality goalie the blue shirts have has sense Richter, and mostly because Henrick is so much younger at this point and in his prime. However, at Henrick's age Marty already had 2 cups, a Calder and a venezia. What is more relevant really comes down to this, the 40 year old Marty outplayed Henrick significantly in the 2012 conference finals. Remember that scorpion save? Whether that save was lucky or not doesn't really matter because when have you ever witnessed that kind of athleticism from the younger Henrick? He couldn't do that now, but the 40 year old Marty ( at the time of the save) made it look routine!
Huge devils fan since I was a kid..I remember going to games and seeing him make brilliant saves like they were nothing..it's sad to see him playing past his prime now
Roy and Luongo have made plenty of spectacular saves. They rarely have to resort to Brodeur's antics because they're always in position and control their rebounds better by a factor of about 10 billion.
Martin Brodeur is the winningest goalie in NHL history! FInally the New Jersey Devils can get some respect! Now all we need is the Stanely Cup this year to finish it off. And congrats to Patrik Elias as well to becoming the Devils all-time leading scorer tonight as well! Go Devils!
I'm a Flyers fan & I hate the Devils, but Brodeur is a legend! Sadly, he is part of an era of goaltenders that are a dying breed. His stick handling is stellar!
Brodeur is the all-time best for me. Person-wise he is as cookie as Roy, Hašek, Richter etc., but I think he's technically the best and most consistent goalie around. Go Martin! Go Devils!
Broduer was one of the greatest goalies of all time, but another thing you need to look at is in his early years he had on of the best defensive lines as well, Quick is a great goalie, but the Kings shot 60 shots on every team they played against, what alot of King fans don't realize, the goalie with the most save/goal ratio is the better goalie, not the one with the lower score.
woot, gratz brodeur on 552. i love how goalies have their special thing, luongo loves useing his glove, and from this video, brodeur seems to like to roll on his back to the other side of the net to save the puck
Brodeur has largely taken advantage of a perfect storm of circumstances in NJ. I would attribute his longevity and much of his success to the team they've had and the system they play there. Obviously he's a great goalie, but he's never carried the team. Kiprusoff doesn't have the mass of stats Brodeur has but his situation has been different. The Flames would be nothing without him, whereas NJ proved this season they can get along just fine even with a second rate backup like Scott Clemmensen.
I don't like they way Brodeur plays, but he is one hell of a goalie. I do think that he does unneeded pad stacks some times, but it works for him. Mad respect even though I favor other goalies.
He's one of the greatest. Search up Tretiak. This guy was one of the greatest goaltenders of all time, he just never played in the NHL. Dryden was another great who left early. Parent had 47W in a season while Brodeur has 48. The thing is Parent didn't play shootout games. If he did, he would've hit 50+W. You can't take away from Broduer's amazing career, but you have to look at the era the other goalies played in
Yeah and he faces 20-25 shots a game because of the defensive system. I'm way more impressed by guys like Arturs Irbe, Marc Denis, and Roberto Luongo having played the same amount of games and minutes Brodeur does because they get so much more work on a nightly basis than he does.
he is one of the best but i think his highlight reels are so good just because his save go straight to the center and give the other team too many second chances.
some goalies can take teams drag them on their backs i know brodeur is in a defensive team and has been for years you cant say he is not a fighting goalie he has the stats and the saves. he is calm and concentrated.
He isn't over-rated. But he is 1 of the best alongside Roy. Lundqvist may be a dominant goalie, but he still has to win a cup to be considered a great goaltender
As a Devils fan, I can't see him playing for another team. It would probably break my heart haha. Unless it's the Canadians since he grew up with them.
see martin brodeur is the man i mean look at the rest they love doing butterfly save and sliding while in butterfly brodeur plays like a old fasion goalie thats what makes him the man
brodeur said ricky dipietro is one of the best goaltenders in the league...every time they face its always a 2-1 game (usually brodeur coming on the winning end) but he says dipi is one of the best puck handlers hes ever seen
Brodeur was jipped in 03 when they gave it to the LOSER Giguere. I know how great Giggy played in the series, but he still lost. It was Martys Conn Smythe that year. He is still the best ever and I cant wait until he is back from injury. Go Devils!
My point was not to say which one was more severe or not but rather to give you an example. No matter how severe doing 1 thing is, it doesn't prove if the person is bad straight away. Doing it again repetively is another story.
7 and 3 sent chills down my spine. Any goaltender can make that great 'initial' save sometimes, but stoning those 2nd or 3rd shots which SHOULD be a sure goal is what makes Marty a legend. Nice video.

Brodeur was a MONSTER in the net..
I'm a die-hard Devils fan. Marty Brodeur, #30, is always an awesome goalie by far! Great saves, great tricks... My best favorite goalie in the NHL!
When i was 9 i watched marty play, first nhl game i ever saw. Im 13 now, been playing hockey for 3 years, and loving it. Being a goalie is a lot more fun if u play like number 30.
i think thats so sweet that he "windmills" his pads on virtually all these saves
the greatest plays of one of the greatest goalies. Your jaw WILL drop during this video
He's so athletic, probably the most athletic goaltender i've seen
i never get tired of this...
It's not just the players, it's also the system. Brodeur has played behind two of the greatest defensive defensemen in NHL history in Stevens and Niedermayer, not just All-Stars, we're talking HOFers here. I'm a diehard pens fan but Brodeur is my alltime fav goalie. He's a legend.
I love Brodeur when he slides around on the ice like a polar bear it's so funny. MB30!
The Man is a freaking WIZARD! Hope he plays for another 10 years!!!!!!
WHAT!? He directs rebounds better than nearly any goalie in the NHL today.
Regardless of how the Devils season is going I still think that Brodeur is a awesome goalie and deserves to be in the NHL hall of fame
Brodeur is the best goalie the NHL has ever had. I absolutely hate the Devils, but I can't get enough of watching this guy play. He is amazing. Anyone who disagrees really needs to stop watching baseball.

broduer....best goalie, i cannot leave a short comment about this vid. it was touching. broduer is the best
He is just amazing!!! My fave in the hole NHL history!
Ok buddy, you might say something like that because Henrick is the first quality goalie the blue shirts have has sense Richter, and mostly because Henrick is so much younger at this point and in his prime. #6 is by far my favorite Brodeur moment. #30 will live forever
Only one thing can describe the best goalie of all time :
INSANE FOCUS
Huge devils fan since I was a kid..I remember going to games and seeing him make brilliant saves like they were nothing..it's sad to see him playing past his prime now
One of the best goalies of all time.
7's my fav because of Jim Huhson. I love his voice like "Great Save Loungo" or "Scores". He's my favorite announcer and the best!
Roy and Luongo have made plenty of spectacular saves. They rarely have to resort to Brodeur's antics because they're always in position and control their rebounds better by a factor of about 10 billion.
#7 is insane. One of my favorite saves
Simply the best goalie to ever play the game.

NJ were happy for you here in montreal.. now we also can brag... Montreal as a city produces the 2 best goalies in NHL history..
WoW its amazing....... my friend see martin brodeur everyday at his golfclub.
Brodeur has played his entire NHL Career in New Jersey, he broke the record for the most starts on one team with 14.
OMG! Martin is just amazing, no doubt the best in the world!
And that's 3 straight years going out in the first round. Mr. Irrelevant, Martin Brodeur.
7, 2, and 1 are unbelievable... but then again, it's Brodeur
Brodeur is the all-time best for me. Person-wise he is as cookie as Roy, Hašek, Richter etc., but I think he's technically the best and most consistent goalie around. Go Martin! Go Devils!
that is why he is the best goalie. and he will always be the best
Loving #1 in French, hopefully Marty can stand on his head for one more deep playoff run, Go Devils!
Brodeur gives up a ton of rebounds, but he sure does make up for em
Broduer was one of the greatest goalies of all time, but another thing you need to look at is in his early years he had on of the best defensive lines as well, Quick is a great goalie, but the Kings shot 60 shots on every team they played against, what alot of King fans don't realize, the goalie with the most save/goal ratio is the better goalie, not the one with the lower score.
That "scorpion save" on Gaborik last night just knocked one of these off.
woot, gratz brodeur on 552. i love how goalies have their special thing, luongo loves useing his glove, and from this video, brodeur seems to like to roll on his back to the other side of the net to save the puck
Martin Brodeur is the greatest goalie in the history of the NHL
Hasek is the greatest goalie who ever lived. he's who i styled my goaltending play after. He right up there with Roy, Parent, and Hextall.
Brodeur is the king of flip saves.
The best goaler i ever see
Brodeur has largely taken advantage of a perfect storm of circumstances in NJ. I would attribute his longevity and much of his success to the team they've had and the system they play there. INCREDIBLE!
Thisithe best goalie ever!
i highly doubt that we'll see a goaltender as skilled and as sportsmanlike as brodeur in another few decades or so.
This Brodeur is really AWESOME goalie, too bad he's not in Sharks :)))) Big sports greetings from Zagreb (Croatia, Europe)
#8 crossed the line!! im a huge brodeur fa, but i still gotta call that one
Obviously the best goalie of all time
brodeur kicks ass definitley the best goalie in the nhl devils rock
You didn't watch this video at all did you? One man can't do it alone, but Marty can and will get em close every year.
He broke the record 2 days after my bday! i went to that game. it was sick
Brodeur reacts so fast its amazing
MARTIN BRODEUR IS THE BEAT GOAL OF ALL TIME
Yeah and he faces 20-25 shots a game because of the defensive system. I'm way more impressed by guys like Arturs Irbe, Marc Denis, and Roberto Luongo having played the same amount of games and minutes Brodeur does because they get so much more work on a nightly basis than he does.
he is one of the best but i think his highlight reels are so good just because his save go straight to the center and give the other team too many second chances.
one of the best stand up goalie!
Those are 10 reasons why he's the best that has ever been
I like his style its is a very different one but i love to watch him
long live Brodeur long live the new jersey devils and i know they're gonna make it to the playoffs this year GO DEVILS GO
i love it, they got him deked and then he sticks out a pad or a stick and denies. You don't know how frustrating that is when he's playing your team
this man is why i play as a goalie
on #1 i love how the habs throw up the sticks after the "sure goal"
NOW THAT'S what i call amazing goaltending.
He is a terrific goalie!!
Marty is the all time best and anyone who disagrees truely has no clue what the hell they're talking about.
Wow.... Martin is amazing
martin brodeur is the best goalie ever
some goalies can take teams drag them on their backs i know brodeur is in a defensive team and has been for years you cant say he is not a fighting goalie he has the stats and the saves. he is calm and concentrated.
He isn't over-rated. But he is 1 of the best alongside Roy. Lundqvist may be a dominant goalie, but he still has to win a cup to be considered a great goaltender
Just a few reasons why Brodeur is the best
I wonder what it is like to be considered the greatest goalie who ever lived.
My favourite goalies ever;
1.) Martin Brodeur
2.) Dominik Hasek
3.) Patrick Roy
you got that right. I like to play it safe with the "no rebound/butterfly" type of goalie style...like carey price.
He looks like an ninja on the ice!!!!
i think his style is rolling on his back...he does that a lot
THATS SICK !
As a Devils fan, I can't see him playing for another team. It would probably break my heart haha. Unless it's the Canadians since he grew up with them.
That seems to be Brodeur's trademark move where he rolls over his back on the ice for a save
see martin brodeur is the man i mean look at the rest they love doing butterfly save and sliding while in butterfly brodeur plays like a old fasion goalie thats what makes him the man
I like the part when even the great pat foley yells brodeurs name
brodeur said ricky dipietro is one of the best goaltenders in the league...every time they face its always a 2-1 game (usually brodeur coming on the winning end) but he says dipi is one of the best puck handlers hes ever seen
Brodeur was jipped in 03 when they gave it to the LOSER Giguere. I know how great Giggy played in the series, but he still lost. It was Martys Conn Smythe that year. He is still the best ever and I cant wait until he is back from injury.
Go Devils!
number 1 the french announcer said "holy shit brodeur is a fucking monster!" lawlz
My point was not to say which one was more severe or not but rather to give you an example. No matter how severe doing 1 thing is, it doesn't prove if the person is bad straight away. Doing it again repetively is another story.
play number 5: "That goalie's a wall!" - Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey
Marty is amazing!
6 and 7 make you awe struck, pure sickness
You're right, ZERO Stanley Cups since Stevens and Niedermayer left. The numbers really don't lie.
Amazing!
the greatest netminder ever!!!!!
and he is the best goalie in the NHL games too :)
