Its definitely a lot more accessible and will be even more accessible once the Cross Island line is ready in 2029. Which part of Hougang are you staying at?
@Discovery Walking Tours Tv. Hi Bro, Another awesome video n thank you for sharing as I get to "tag along" rediscovering and collecting old memories of Hougang. Initially, this wasn't a popular estate though some of the blocks built, were award winning ones. Many of the first generation residents are from Kg Tengah, Lor Renjong, Lor Cheng Lim, Punggol Tracks 20, 22 etc. Talking abt the old fishing port at the end of upper serangoon road, brings back memory of a teow chew porridge stall. There was a helper, who was fast in totaling up bills manually and patrons called him, " tain now." After resettlement, I understand that they took up a stall in Kovan. Its so, different now!
Thanks for sharing some of the "old" stories of Hougang. Its viewers such as yourself that adds "life" to a simple walk. One of my biggest hopes, when I started this channel, is that people would come forward to share their stories/childhood in their area. Singapore changes so very fast and I am sure in another 30 years or so, we won't recognise it. But videos such as these will allow us to remember what things were like before
Thank You for great quality video, I have not back to Singapore almost 20 years. I really missing food hawker there , hopefully you will takes more video of food hawker in Singapore , Thanks.
20 years is a long time ago. You might not recognise it if you see it now. I do my best to walk though some hawker centres in the various neighbourhoods that I film. Where did you previously stay when you were in Singapore?

@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV It is a known fact that Hougang missed a couple of amenities such as MRT for a couple of years, just because they voted in opposition. As a resident, we were in a way experiencing a "collective punishment" - by being placed last or delaying any development - that might be useful for the residents. Even a PAP MP also pleaded for Hougang residents that they should at least deserve a Singapore standard transport system when PAP was championing world standard for Singapore. Do remember the residents of Hougang are usually the type that serves their NS quietly and loyally till ROD. In most cases, in Xiong units. No white horses or those wanting to be exempted or deferred. Despite all that being a Hougang resident - we still get the short end of the stick.
