Everyone should rewatch and keep their eyes on the piano player. He was one of the composers of the songs and him getting to see how everyone's reacting to his song is awesome. Also, the faces of the other performers when she steps out and then starts getting into it...they were so excited and you can see it.

Keala was so shy... everyone in the room knew what she could do... it just took her finding that moment to say to herself ' you know what - I'm just gonna go for it '... and she did... and she was totally awesome. I saw her live with Hugh when he came to my state to do a show covering all of his musicals- so he did Boy From Oz, Les Mis etc.. He is also extremely funny..... she came out and blew the roof off... the whole concert was just magical...

The guy on the piano is one of the song writers, that's why he looks like a kid at Christmas. They guy in red in the back wipes away tears- look at each person there, it's amazing how most of them react. The girl in white's reactions are really genuine & joyful, I love it!

This was at a presentation for potential money backers for producing the film. They were showing them what they were going to do.
Hugh had JUST had surgery for the removal of a cancer on his face, and his doctors told him not to sing, because the stitches would tear, so they brought in Broadway legend Jeremy Jordan to sing his songs. But Hugh got so wrapped up in the performances, he got up and sang, and tore the stitches.

This video really got me started watching reactor videos and it was powerful. I struggled a lot with various issues I cant begin to describe but when I finally decided to get therapy and discuss absolutely everything I took the words from this song to help me heal. So it helped me realize sure I've been cut down , bruised or been feeling I dont belong but im definitely worthy of love, my love and others love. So im very thankful for this song. Oh one last thing this is a very tough woman. Just before she was scheduled to sing at the Oscar's she had a mini stroke, she recovered and she blew the audience away.

As a fan of Broadway (I don’t follow it today, admittedly), I used to watch a lot of musical related content - literally couldn’t get enough for several years. I actually discovered Keala Settle nearly a decade ago as she was doing some off-Broadway work. She did a couple appearances on Seth Rudesky’s YT channel (Broadway pianist who posts a lot of content with performers) and not only did I recognize her talent, but I thought she was very humorous and charismatic. When I saw the trailer and/or cast list for The Greatest Showman, I was so happy to see Keala’s name. Very proud of her and glad she got something so …what’s the word… my mind has gone blank. Essentially, it seems that she got something out of this experience -especially through Hugh Jackman’s push for her to be included- that has been troubling her for some time. 🥰

This song I think will remain an anthem because at its core is the knowledge that the hardest thing in the world is tobe yourself. And in reality humans have a hard time knowing who that is. We live by others precepts and expectatilns, marching to their drum and trying to fit in to what everyone around us in our lives expects us to be. If anyone says I know who I am and never struggle with it is lying. It's a LONG journey to disengage from others judgments and set forth to be who THEY are without fear. It doesn't even matter if you are handicapped or scarred or overweight or a different color or srxual orientation from what's "normal". It's psychological as every human being struggles with self esteem and inner turmoil. It's an incredibly brave thing. Cast all those preconceptions and judgments and stand up tall and say THIS IS ME

It is impossible for me to watch this particular video and not get tears in my eyes. I have two songs I would consider my "life songs," and this is one of them. Grew up always made fun of for being super white, freckled, skinny, poor, book smart, and a goody goody. Constantly changed my appearance, my behavior, my clothes, trying to fit in, to no avail. Well, no more. This is me. (The other song? Let It Go, because that's what I had to do to be the real me.) Great reaction, John. I hope you react to the other videos in this series.

Dude - good theatre *is* Metal. Go out there in front of a live audience, with a powerful message to deliver, and leave your f'in heart out there on the stage right in front of everyone. There's a lot of "meh" live theatre in the world, but when it all clicks, it's...Amazing.
Watch the musicians in the back., The guy on the piano is the composer of the song - you can see him realizing "Holy SHIT this is exactly what I'd hoped this would be!!!" The "backup" vocals are all top-tier Broadway talent, and they are Here For It as well, responding to the emotion Keala was feeling and "yes AND"ing the whole performance into the stratosphere. This is what theatre is at its best.
And yeah, I include great rock/metal performances in "theatre" in this context :)
Go watch the other performance from this session, "From Now On" - just as amazing.
