Waldorf Quantum display fix

  • Fixing a dropped LED touch screen display that has become detached and dropped inside the Waldorf Quantum keyboard.
Original models displays were only stuck in place with glue. If you live in a warm environment the glue can slowly melt and allow the display to drop. Initially mine dropped on one side but after a few weeks it dropped on the right hand side too so that I wasn't able to use the touch display at all, rendering my keyboard inoperative.
I contacted Waldorf and had a repair kit sent out to me three times. Due to Mexican mailing problems and timing it took a long time to finally receive one which I got via my friend Philip in Texas who sent it on to me at great expense via FedEx.
The end of the video shows the result which as you can see is less than perfect due to residual glue that I have yet to remove, and re-centralize the display, which I intend to get around to.
There are a few more of my videos on normanaustin.com and also on my youtube channels, wowisms and fckedchicken.
I'm intending to renew my wowisms.org website soon which was hacked and therefore had to remove.
I also have another website called doctorquark.com that is undergoing reconstruction.

I just happened across this video on my feed but it couldn't of been better timed. I have tbe same issue with my Quantum and was wondering whether the kit Waldorf sent me would be an OK home job. I didn't want to send it off to Germany or even somewhere within the UK due to the risk involved with Couriers.
It does warn on the kit instruction that you should not get any dust onto the screen in the process but it looks like the actual screen front is covered quite well when it's properly in situ while the synth is readying resting upside down. I guess the biggest risk of getting dust or other bits on tbe screen is during the glue removal.
