I grew up in Albuquerque New Mexico where exposure to bluegrass is very limited to say the least. I started playing banjo my senior year in high school (1977...wow that was long time ago lol) and one of my 1st performances was at the homecoming assembly. The entire Highland High School student body was present and they loved my performance of Foggy Mountain Breakdown. After the assembly several students started calling me JD. I thought this was in reference to JD Crowe. It was only weeks later that I found out it was in reference to John Denver. Still a good compliment but nothing like had I been compared to JD Crowe lol lol 100% true story.
Could listen all day was raised on this music It’s in my soul Thanks!
