I have a rosemary bonsai in the making and I'm taking up this hobby as a 14 year old
Keep it up 👍 and enjoy the result years later 😘.
good time to plant some seeds - apples and pears and oranges all do well
I wish now that I had started when I was 14. My trees would have had 36 years of development 😀
Good luck with your future endeavours.
Good for you! I wish I had taken it more seriously when I was younger. Oh, the trees I could have today. My son is 10, and he has a few he is working on. I’m excited to see what he does over the years.
Good luck mate think you need to be careful with the roots I take a lot of cuttings and a lot die when I transplant them.
Hi Peter, Adam here! I see you got the new mic :) The audio levels might be set too high on the wireless transmitter connected to your phone, there is a button on it where you can turn down the sensitivity on it so it doesnt clip and be too loud. Hope this helps! Great video as always! :D
Thats bizarre, I collected a bunch of beech trees yesterday on my walk route that the owner wanted out. Have a great birthday Peter. Been in hospital for two years now from the age of 31 and this channel gave me the idea to fill my hospital room with bonsai, its beautiful and keeps me busy on these long hospital days. I hope to be well enough one day to visit the nursery.
That is a crazy coincidence. Lol. What a lovely way to beautify the hospital. Definitely a great way to distract too.
I hope you are doing well and that your trees brighten your days as much as they do mine. 💜
@@user-pt1cz4ot1e they definitely do brighten my days, and all the staff. Doctors and nurses always comment on them, I've even gifted a couple to them and now they are into bonsai. Infact 1 of my doctors now comes for an hour or two after he finishes work once a week so we can work on the trees and chat bonsai.
Thanks for the reply its nice to have a bit of contact with the outside world, it can feel like a bubble universe when you never leave lol. It really was an amazing coincidence wasn't it.
Hope you manage to get out of hospital soon.
get well soon
Best of luck to you! Surrounding yourself with nature is a great idea in such an unnatural place as a hospital room. Let the trees heal you dude!
So pleased they are looking all healthy, you have certainly been blessed with your freebies, may God bestow lots more on you, for all the work you do for helping others 😇
Peter, watching you work is always a treat.
Peter camouflages himself with a Hawaiian shirt with nursery camouflage. We only can see his Head 😁
I remember the beech rescue video well, just can't believe it was 2 years ago!!
I like it when you revisit previous videos, i think you should do much more update videos.
Thanks 👍
Covid made me lose track of time, I would have sworn it was only this summer that he found those trees
I do revisit these projects from time to time but I usually do them as part of my normal videos. So you have to watch out for them.

Thank you Peter
Happy Birthday Peter 🎂 🥳
A couple of dozen trees done in the time it takes me to decide the first cut! These beech trees look great can’t wait to see them repotted next spring.
Just practice and you will become confident
Give me very valuable inspiration... still remember the short video about collected the threes from which throw away by someone..
Best regards from your Balinese fans.
What treasures!!!
So many great trees. I can’t wait to see you repot them in the spring. I’m guessing more trimming to follow when they get repotted.
Happy Birthday Peter 🙏🏻☸️🕉🎂🎉
Man I'm just getting fo the part of the video where you show the ones that didn't work out. You bring a lot into this space by being comfortable enough to show your flaws instead of falsely deluding yourself (or others) that your flaws do not exist!
I feel that you are demonstrating a worthy example for more than just bonsai by including that in your videos. Thank you Peter!
Nice new shirt, it's almost like a camouflage 👏
Happy birthday!
Bonsai-in-waiting 😉
Also, Happy Birthday!
We all love you Peter
I have 8 decent sized hornbeam I dug out of a hedge which needed to be removed. I gave another couple away and one other didn't make it. This was also 2 years ago and they're looking very similar to your beech. Doesn't take much time or effort for so much result. Keep your eyes peeled for free material folks!
Thanks Peter.
Been wondering about bonsai lately and it seems like the sort of thing that I could actually do. I have a lot of physical disabilities but come summer, I have no issue going out and collecting some seedlings, and I have a lot of fun sitting down and using my hands and shaping something artistically. I think I’d like to start with some small leaved deciduous trees that can get really fluffy, and I’ve been eying Arbivoritae. I figure I might get a better feel for it if I start with something that isn’t too prickly and work my way into typical evergreens.
Verry nice! Grts
Happy birthdayyy
Happy birthday in advance🎉💕👌👍
Love the base of the tree at 8:45
'That's going to be a lovely beech" lmao!
Advance happy birthday 🎁🎂🎊
I can't believe you didn't even feed those trees Peter, the foliage is so beautiful.
Many happy returns Peter! I am going to Portsmouth next week and will be stopping at RHS Wisley on the way back, to see the trees!! Not much excites me at my age, but see the actual trees that I have read about in your books is going to be excellent!! Visiting the nursey is still on my list. I would still love to help you in Kingsdown, if you need it on your next visit (you have my email).
Please email my office to keep in touch. I do visit Kingsdown and St Margarets from time to time.
Great video Peter ,I have been waiting for this , must have missed it last year. will you do a third video on the Beech trees?. or shall I view them myself when visit in a few months time.
Bloody Amazing Aussie Bonsai Bloke
????
@@peterchan3100 sorry I thought I replied to the previous video
Thanks
Will anyone ever be able to find you in that shirt when you disappear into the growing fields haha! I remember watching that video. cant believe its been 2 years wow
Happy Early Birthday Peter =)
🌱🌱💮💮💮nice ❤️ vid
Appears near death revived trees have the most character
Hello, it doesn't bother me that you talked about inverse taper so much. That prompted me to look up the meaning and some examples. Now I understand why you have to watch out for branches or even root problems that could cause inverse taper. So thank you.
I was thinking of these trees just a few days ago!
When is your birthday? Mine was on the 18th. Happy birthday, Peter!
Mine is the same day. Fellow Leo and same birthday!!
Hi Peter, I also got a few beeches from a neighbour who was geting rid of them in may, had to run to put them in the ground, a few of them have died (i think) but some on them have starting to have leafs on the lower parts of the trunk, the top parts have darker and browner colours... Do you think i should cut them now ( mean the part with diferent colour) or wait to see where the new leafs come out?, Thank you for all your videos, im addicted to them! 😀
Peter needs some Hawaiian print t-shirts!!!
Happy birthday in advance Mr. Peter. I am a retired banker and now spend my time in Bonsai Art. I eagerly wait your videos and I am a big fan of yours.
I have had many bankers in London wanting to quit their jobs to do bonsai.
81 in a few days ! Wow
Question about cut back.
Can i cut it back around mid november? I got gifted one from a hedge but i don't know what's the best time to start working on it😊
😎my birthday was on the 16th
...im a 36 year old gamer dad that has never been interested in plants but this guy is making me seriously consider getting a few bonsai planst to start a hobby on.....
You dont have to love gardening to be into bonsai. Lots of our customers started from Martial Arts and they are great bonsai people.
@@peterchan3100 ...g'dammit i took martial arts as a kid lol.....
Спасибо из 🇷🇺 России низкий поклон, Любим ВАС! Крепчайшего здоровья!!!!! СПАСИБО!!
Hello :D It is nice video update of all Beech trees, could i ask about the tiping trick with a sharp tool to produce new branches from a sleeping buds, is it also possible to do it with maples? I have one very old bonsai with a perfect base (20cm) with a new leader but on the very old wood not produce the branches wich i want... im planing to bend a new shuts thru the holes but this is much easier proces :D Thanks so much for answer @Peter :D
Yes it does for Maples too
@@peterchan3100 Thank you for answer... what time is the best to do ? in a spring?
I have wild juniper trees on my property in Oregon. What do I need to start with. I am 40 and have now been fascinated with bonsai.
Anyone would give their right arm for those junipers - did some up in Spring and start working on them.
First video of those trees: ruclips.net/video/BfYY9YjKxAY/видео.html
I wish I could purchase one of those... Sadly I live in New York
Do you have a video on how to grow natural moss under a bonsai tree?
Put moss around the base and water it. It’s pretty simple.
i put a 10 sapling beech hedging pack in my parents garden the year before i left home - aside from one i tried to lift about 10 years ago which died they are all still there, I've cut them back every year (except last year!). I really should dig some up - they are going to be 25/26 years old. Any advice? Should I put them into big buckets like in this video first for a year. And is October the right time to do this. Thanks!
Dig them up and put in large flower pots and then Start training them into bonsai
I have a question regarding yamadori: If I want to collect beech or oak seedlings or younger plants, what time of the year would be the best to collect them? I've collected a beech seedling a few weeks ago to save it from getting cut down but it seems to be dying even though it has nice roots and gets enough water.
You can dig them up from mid Autumn to mid Spring. Here we dig up our field grown trees between Feb and late March. I dont do Yamadori anymore unless a farmer or landowner gives me permission to. But I have thousands of trees I have grown on my own land, so I dont need to do Yamadori anymore; besides I think Yamadori is unethical and not sustainable.
@@peterchan3100 thanks a lot, totally agree with sustainability regarding yamadori, which is why I mostly look for seedlings and trees that will get cut down due to gardening or construction works anyways, thanks a lot for the answer!
My camera man also sometimes says: bbrrrrb bzzzz brrbr brrr bzzzrzrzttt grraaaaa
Great video btw!
