Arch is actually the nephew of Eli & Peyton. His father was the most athletic of the 3 Manning brothers and was a WR who had to quit playing for medical reasons. The grandfather Archie Manning was a scrambling qb in the NFL.

I'm here for the reaction. I only want to make two things clear; Chiefly: 1. Quinn Ewers is the starter; Arch will get his time in the future and is a true team guy. Arch isn't going to press for playing time because he understands the higher calculus of learning and getting reps. Please believe that his time will come.
Next, UTSA Head Coach Jeff Traylor is an outstanding coach and has been demonstrably upstanding coach and human at every program he's been associated with.

Yeah so Texas’s QB room is stacked. Quinn Ewers is a Junior that’s a Heisman favorite and Arch Manning is the freshman backup, which is insane because most teams would kill to have him as their starter, also since he’s a freshman that means he has his whole college career still ahead of him and is nowhere close to his full potential yet.
Anyways Ewers strained his abdomen bad so they had to put Arch in.
Texas lost its starting running back and another running back BEFORE the season started. Its three starting WRs last year were drafted by the NFL. In this game their starting QB was injured. But you can tell Texas has stacked talent. So after this game, Texas moved up to #1 in the polls because previous #1 Georgia (which has won 42 straight regular season games) had a close game with Kentucky (13-12). #1 Texas and #2 Georgia play one another on OCTOBER 19.
This is the first year Texas is in Georgia's conference (SEC). Oklahoma has joined the SEC as well.
Arch is most likely going to play the whole game this Saturday so I’ll be looking forward to your reaction
Quinn Ewers hurt his hand on the first touchdown pass. I’m guessing that contributed to the terrible interception right afterwards. Ewers then had some kind of abdominal injury soon after that which forced him out of the game and allowed Manning to come in. Also, as much hype as Manning gets, don’t sleep on Ewers. If he stays healthy and continues as he’s been playing this year, he is expected to be a heisman candidate and future 1st round pick. Before Manning, Ewers was the all the hype.
The University of Texas is in Austin and was the first campus in the University of Texas system. There are also campuses in San Antonio (UTSA-Road Runners) and El Paso (UTEP-Miners) that play top level football (FBS) UT Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) will begin playing FBS next year and they are the Vaqueros (Spanish for Cowboys). Nine schools all together.
Quinn Ewers is the first string QB, Manning is 2nd string. Ewers got hurt so Manning went in the game.
Arch is starting tomorrow's game against Louisiana-Monroe, another historically weak football program, but you might be interested in the match-ULM's defensive coordinator told the press this week that his players weren't nervous about Manning, because some of them have already played against him in high school and beaten his team (the Mannings are from Louisiana, ever since Arch's grandfather played for the Saints). Here in the States we call that "bulletin board material" for Texas, no doubt you guys have an equivalent term across the pond.
edit: ULM's quarterback is named, I kid you not, General Booty. As in, first name General, last name Booty. He comes from a family of QBs/WRs from Louisiana himself, albeit not nearly as accomplished as the Mannings. His dad & two uncles all had respectable college careers, and one of those uncles, John David, was actually the starting QB at Southern Cal under Steve Sarkisian, who is now Texas's head coach.
so UTSA is the university of Texas San Antonio and UT is the university of Texas at Austin but it's just known as "Texas". these schools rarely ever play each other. they're located about an hour away from each other in central Texas. UT being the big power house school of Texas and UTSA being a sister school under the UT umbrella but a lot smaller. i grew up in San Antonio but home is Austin. 🤘we have both Texas grads in our house and a UTSA current student.
University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) is not the same caliber of team as University of Texas, and it showed. I kinda feel bad for them having to go up against a team that has a lot of depth in their talent!
