Partey in the midfield brought so much confidence to the team
Shame he is only part-time. The rest of the time he’s injured
Should've started against Bayern. Would've been the perfect 6 to handle the physical and mobile midfield of Goretzka, Musiala and Laimer and also handle the pacey wingers like Sane.
But also offensively, he helps trap the opposition in their own box so they can't counter and he's the only player in our team who plays deep and can also play those quick perfect vertical balls to the wings other than Zinchenko, so he would've got our wingers involved a lot more as Bayern completely cut off the centre of the park and Saka and Martinelli couldn't do anything.
Why is the guy leaving at the end of the season?

Rice in playing more attacking role is dangerous
We know Odegaard is The Genius. But key to this late run-in is old glass-legs Partey. If we can keep him on the pitch and fit, he could yet make the difference. His ball-carrying from deep central positions changes games. Watch for the Octopus.
Partey and Rice was the midfield that should have started against Bayern Munich. Think that’s a mistake on Arteta’s part.

It was an intense game and he could have been injured again if he was forced to play whole not fully fit.
@@akintunde007 I understand and accept both reasonings, but in the biggest match of Arsenal season sometimes you have to take chances. Especially in a big knockout competition as the Champions League. Plus we always were thinking a Partey Rice partnership in midfield would be dangerous.

The main thing we’ve learned is Odegaard HAS to move to the left. Fans have been saying this for a while, the angles suit him much better and a partnership with a runner like Martinelli is the most efficient. We maximise our attack by doing this.

Its really heartbreaking what injuries did to Partey. We could be far off right now. But also Gabriel Jesus seems to be off form and I think that's because of an injury that may have ended his career like Hazard. What a shame, but we still love him
It is indeed...however, Partey may have been able to play for quite a few more league games this season: had Arteta not inexplicably played him at right back from the start of the season, and increased the risk massively for another Partey injury catastrophe!!

Trossard is criminally underplayed and underestimated. I love martinelli but there is not evidence to suggest him getting that place now.

A truly professional performance last night, Chelsea played some good football but weren't able to capitalise on the work they did....... unlike The Arsenal!!!!

What do we need another CB for ??? Ben, Tomi, Jacob and Jurrien all can play CB when needed, Arteta only needs to give them trust and minutes. We need to see odd pairings of Kiwior-Saliba and Gabriel-Timber getting minutes next season, only this way we can rest Gabriel or Saliba when needed.
We need full-backs actually, with left side as a priority. Zinny should be converted into a 6 or an 8, he's actually an attacking mid naturally. We must find a new natural left-back who's comfortable inverting.

TBH, I was shocked to find that Caciedo was on the pitch at the end of the match, having just started watching since the beginning of the 2nd half. He was non-existent the whole of second half, totally different than the one that played with Brigthon in that 3-0 win against us last season.

I know I’ve been seeing it for 2 seasons but I could not believe just how crap Chelsea are when watching that match and was annoyed it wasn’t 7 or 8 nil
Seeing partey return to starting line up next to rice was what I wanted to see and should stay this way for rest of the season. In past seasons with partey he has influenced our seasons so much and become unplayable. Now to be next to rice and unleash rice further forward wow... excited for North London Derby!

I've always said PARTEY makes our team TICK & game flow the best... Without him, we cannot flow as much as we want.. With a midfield four of PARTEY, JORGINHO, RICE, & ODEGAARD..... is simply unbeatable. This way, we just play 2 attackers with Odegaard supporting them closely bcos Partey & Jorginho are already creative monsters from deep & will give Odegaard so much freedom to supply the attackers or be part of the attackers in front.
IT WILL WORK MAGIC.
