I use the torps first, trying to get cheeky floods then fires. Also I'd rather lose torp bombers first to get an idea of where the ships are

I use torps first as the BBs and Cruisers are too close together at the beginning of the match and the AA destroys you. With the big ships still grouped you can get collateral damage with the torps even if you miss your intended target.
