For context: Catering was over $6000, horse rental was over $1000, polish musicians was over $1000, rentals over $4000, tent over $6000, we provided a bus for $1000, etc so that's how it added up!
You did an amazing job for your budget, too many negative comments here. 25k is a really good deal for the size and level of decor you had, you did a great job talking about the labor and rental cost trade offs when you use a ‘blank slate’ venue like a backyard. Beautiful result and it looks like everyone had a great time!
I'm putting together wedding info for a friend. I've worked at an event production company and we did several weddings so I know what to look for. Watching your video reminded me that if you don't work in events/wedding planning, it is easy to become overwhelmed and/or forget all of the little details needed for your big day. Excellent video and info.
I am an event decorator, there are tons of companies that do what I do in the Chicago area. We also do rental of lights, fabric, props etc. As part of our service we setup & breakdown after the event.
Can you please detail what your layout was? I can see some of the table photos but hard to see from a top view. Also, how did you decide on rectangle tables?
Even if you don’t want to hire a planner, hire event designers or stylist. You plan and choose your vendors and they’ll will just put everything together. It’s very imperative, don’t DIY A-Z, things can easily go south I promise
Thank you so much for this video I am starting to plan my wedding and I have no idea where to start and what to consider but you definitely gave me more of an idea of what I need to consider for my wedding so thank you
Just watched your entire video... i dont know why.. my wedding was in 2018 lol Im planning an outdoor princess birthday party for my baby and I jus want you to know that I found this video super helpful
here for my daughters 2nd birthday party too, it’s around Easter so i want to have an egg hunt (: i don’t have a backyard cus i live in an apartment so it has to be outdoors at a park
Lol the average cost of weddings in fhe US had me shook - I was all "no way I’ll get mine under 10k". I’ve just started planning, and.. yeah, I get how you can get up to 25k. Even for the "budget" venues I have looked at we’re looking at 20k after food and drinks. It’s nutty
OK watching your video has convinced me not to do an outdoor wedding on our own…. My son is engaged and we have been looking at venues figuring out what they wanna do… We’re only doing around 100 people so I thought it could be manageable to do what you’ve done. But like you said you spent $20-$25,000 that’s what it’s costing for a venue here on Long Island and they are beautiful… Beautiful gardens they could get married outside if the weather is nice and separate rooms in the venue for wedding ceremony, cocktail hour etc…. It seems like what you did was a tremendous amount of work. The ice alone is a problem… It’s always a problem even when I do backyard parties in my own home for 50 people which is our family… somebody is always running to get ice at some point throughout the parties…. I did not even think of the garbage situation.. I also don’t want any friends or family cleaning up after the wedding everybody is enjoying the wedding glow the last thing anybody wants to do is start breaking down tables, cleaning up and dealing with garbage for 100 people…. I do love the idea of a backyard wedding I really do…❤️ just the freedom to do what you want when you want is fantastic… But is it worth it it doesn’t sound like you’re saving much money… And they never ending worry about the weather… Sweetheart it looks like you had a beautiful day for your wedding…. Congratulations! and enjoy the memories because they will last a lifetime❤️
Omggg your wedding was absolutely beautiful. Can you pin your tent vendor? I tried looking in the blog post and description and I can’t find it. Please 💗
This is why you should always hire professionals. It’s very imperative. Not only will you have a smooth event and a memorable event , you’ll also save time and time is money. DIYing might save money but certainly not time and you’ll have issues…a stressful event and you might even cringe seeing pictures 5 years from the event. Even as a professional, things don’t always go smooth let alone someone DIYing lol expect stress, drama and the worse
You had such a beautiful wedding, but your video is making me cringe because for $25K, I would have had an all-inclusive outdoor wedding venue where the staff will do all the set-up and break down. As well as bartenders and servers. I’m sorry honey, I hope you’re not in debt because of this wedding. But it looked good for the photos 😊.
Yup I agree. 25k? Ehhhh… Might as well get servers and other staff involved But overall , beautiful wedding though. Also thank you for being honest about your wedding! congrats !
LOL... this is why people say if you represent your self in court you have a fool for a client. Hire a professional, then step back. Don't be like her.
everybody can't afford the cost of hiring a professional. that doesn't mean ppl should *not get the nicest wedding for their personal needs and budget. edit: apologies to eddy the incel for triggering him with this comment
@@urloudandwrong I can’t entirely blame you for your uneducated and stereo typically emotionally feminine statement since I didn’t bother to mention that I have owned and event rental company for the past 20 years and have been working in the event rental industry since 1993. We provide rentals to somewhere between 800 and 1200 wedding each year. Between her TWO weddings the total bill would have come to around 75K maybe a little more since I don’t handle destination weddings. The total for the rentals for the in country second wedding will probably come in around 8 to 12K alone. She paid more than 20 to 25K total. The caterer alone would have been 16 to 22k. Give you an idea the gold chivari chairs with pad run 11 to 15 each. That’s 1,600 just for the chairs. The Belmont gold beaded chargers 6.00 each. She doesn’t actually know what her wedding cost in total. Notice the clear top tent? Cost is generally between 1.5 to 2.5 times the solid white top version. So 3000 to 4500. And just as an aside, that was a 40x60 Navi Trac tent they are super nice. Wind load rated to 90MPH, I own 5 of them and worth every dime. If you can’t afford a quality event planner then you hire a full service caterer who has in house planners. Your guest count is a multiplier, so don’t treat it like a family reunion. There was not a thing budget about her wedding. She is doing the woo is me, praise me for how hard I made it on myself routine. The old edit after I replied .... from a Karen, not shocking. @Ed Wo lol what an emotionally triggered reaction to my simple posit that it's okay for ppl to have weddings. have your therapist read that essay because I surely didn't sheesh
Serious question… the 1 wedding wasn’t good enough? Came to get ideas for my wedding but this made me wanna elope. Maybe I’m more into intimacy and the commitment rather than wanting attention for half a day and blowing money to get it. I’d take that $25,000 and buy a vacation home… To each it’s own. 🥂

This was super helpful! Made me think of little details to consider on the day ☺️
5 minutes in, I already decided I won't be my own wedding planner. Too much stress for me.
I'm planning my Central Park wedding for September and this was so so helpful :)
Central Park? How’s your planning going?! I’m planning an outdoor wedding as well but I don’t even know where to start!

Rented from M&m
Your wedding was beautiful. Do you mind telling me what size tent you had? It's the exact look that I wanted.

What size was your tent ?
20x40 I think. Blog post has more info
That’s also why having to out source all these details you end up spending more then you would finding a venue with all included.
Do you know what size tent you got?
40x60
