If you know me, you would know that I am Alan Moore's biggest fan. And Hugo Weaving .....and Natalie Portman haha. One of my favorite movies and comics ever and a great excuse to give genius Tchaikovsky's 1812 a try. Thank you all so much for everything. It means the world. BIG ups for always rocking my casbah!

I came here because I love both. If you're just an 1812/metal freak you're seriously missing a trick. V for Vendetta is at least one of my all time too 10. Seriously like what Erock is up to as well.

+VinTheFox I've actually performed this piece live with a full group of 21 cannons. It was very loud but oh so very satisfying. It was an outdoor venue and I'm pretty sure the first row of the audience fell out of their seats when the first cannon went off.

This just really opened my eyes on metal. I use to think of it as just edgy rock, but now I realize that it's really whatever you want it to be. I now see it as more of an instrumental style than just a genre if that makes sense.

It is edgy rock, but that by no means makes it vapid, if you connect with it the rush you get is unique from most other genres

+N3rdSci3nc3 Look up Corvus Corax's "Cantus Buranus" albums. They're not the Orff music, but they're the same lyrics from the original Canta Burana manuscript. Also the band Tanzwut shares several of the same members and plays a mix of the same style with metal.

Why do you need cannons when you have explosions?
because the original version, played by a symphonical orchestra, uses real cannons instead of huge drums (which would have been the logic thing to do)... Just imagine the old Tchaïkovsky being like "this gonna be played inside... I want freaking cannons to shoot multiple times !"

1812 overture is probably one of the sole piece of music in which you can hear at the same time "la Marseillaise" and the former Tsarist Imperial anthem. Good job :) . By the way, I am really impressed by the variety of songs and music you can master. We have a professionnal here 0_0

I already appreciated listening to Tschaikowsky and when this song appeared in the fantastic creation called "V for Vendetta", I totally freaked out. I really love the film, I mean... well, it has a pretty awesome historical background, very cool actors and the story is so unbelievable good. I cried and laughed a lot and my fingernails were nearly gone after watching cause I was so fucking nervous and had this special kind of feeling because it turned out to be something that gets bigger and even more bigger. I kinda fell in love with this movie :3
I really loved to listen to your interpretation of this great piece of music and it will be part of some of my private playlists because I want to hear it every damn time when I turn on my computer.

yes it was mockery to France and Napoleon, who lost in Russia. for 120 years 1812 overture was banned in France and it was said "playing this at France means declaring war with them"

If I could offer a slightest suggestion: Let the cannons roar! This is what makes the 1812 overture so fucking epic. I would have isolated that sound, slowed down the tempo and had something like gongs, or live fireworks. or something. Isolate that boom.

May I humbly suggest an *Ace Combat meets metal*? If you don't know the OST, just listen to a few top tracks. Maybe the Spanish guitar in Zero might get you interested. People would just love to see you pulling off that solo. :) Other interesting tracks to throw in would be, in no particular order, The Unsung War, Comona, Liberation of Gracemeria, Grabacr... It's got so many great tracks it's hard to pick up just a few, so I won't even try. :)
