It's so on-brand for a costume designer to still have those crystals kicking around in his stash from a movie he worked on almost 20 years ago, i love that 😂
Having a person that will tell you the truth is invaluable. My husband does it for me with my sewing and it's incredibly helpful! He's not mean, he, like your mother, tells me, "I just think you'll be upset about that part forever, so you might as well fix it while you can." It's so helpful!
My husband does the same, he even helps me hem some of the more difficult clothing pieces while I wear them just so that garment turns out perfect, and I do not readdress the issue :)
My husband has also given me countless input on my costuming! I can trust him to tell me when something looks a little off, or might need to be changed up with something else! It’s really helpful to have an additional set of eyes, particularly when you’re so invested in a project.
It,s so on - brand for a costume designer to still have those crystals kicking around in his stash from a movie he worked on almost 20 years ago I love that
Is it weird that I got a little teary-eyed when the crystals were being added? I just thought the whole dress came together with their addition. Clearly I’m invested in this project LOL.
OMG! Mr Richard Cooke is an absolute star! I just love that one of the makers of the original(s) gave a little guidance, it adds so much to this journey, which I've probably said before, but somehow it's just magical, and this whole dress and your skills are already magical to begin with. The dress is exquisite - I'm a sucker for pink, bows, flowers and sparklys - so as you went on with the making I fell further and further in love with 'The Dress' 😊
Wait. Wut. YOU ARE 20 YEARS OLD?? YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL AND YOU ARE SUCH GREAT AT SEWING!!! I am a 14 year old boy who started learning sewing at about 6 years old, when I got my first sewing machine, which I still now use and love. Honestly in the past couple years I got a little bit “lost” on youtube, I didn’t quite know what to watch, and I started watching sewing/cosplay videos. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! It just helps me getting better at sewing and I hope that, when I’ll be 20 years old I’ll know sewing like you do. I have a lot of stuff to learn, but I think I am a good intermediate sewer. Ok in this comment I said everything and nothing, but you are 20 and I can’t believe you’ve made your first cinderella dress when you were 17/18. Just. You will have a great life. And thanks for all the tips 🥰
Amazing creation!! It looks so good! It’s so cool someone who actually worked with the OG dress not only gave advice but sold you genuine gems used for the dress. Amazing
The dress is extraordinary! I am seriously in awe of how beautiful it is. Gives me even more drive to save up for the materials I need to do my own big ballgown project.
Wow, the amount of perfectionism that goes into these embellishments! The length of the bodice must have been a mission in itself to fix, and then you redo the lace, dyeing, painting, reconstructing flowers, hand-gluing crystals - it all must have taken forever!
I totally understand everything you were explaining, but I cannot emphasize enough how much the lace and sparkles are my favorite part of the dress - just the way YOU did it!!! The patient intricacies of how you worked with the lace are beyond amazing! It is true professionalism how you took the incredible time to redo certain aspects until you were satisfied that you had achieved the best you could. What an accomplishment!!!! 💕💕💕
My hearts racing to see the final look!! I had instant visions of you being waltzed around a ballroom, skirt swishing and swirling around the floor!! So stunning, I'm in awe!!
It was amazing that you received input from the costume assistant from the movie!! I love when we creatives are helpful and supportive of one another. It is great that you were humble enough for to listen and respond also.
My oh my oh my! I have just discovered your Chanel. 49 years ago my mom made my wedding dress and I helped cut the lace that was needed and loved doing that. That is why I am mesmerized by your time patience and talent in replicating these beautiful dresses. Your articulation in describing the process is music to my ears. I spent my whole weekend watching your making of the Cinderella dress, and shared it of course. I am too old to wear this type of dress but am inspired to hang one up for decoration in my sewing room, just because! Thank you
@@BellaMaesDesigns I thought you were going to dip the hot pink roses in bleach to tone down the color, it's a technique i learn a time ago but you have to keep an eye to the fabric and clean the it quickly with water so it will not turn white, although it only works with small pieces.
This deserves a view per second spent in this masterpiece. RUclips has restores my faith that true craftsmanship will never truly end. Thank you for showing this beautiful process. Oh, and my heart skipped a beat when you said they were the SAME CRYSTALS. You definitely deserve them, they tied the garment together.
Getting things from the ACTUAL productioms is amazing! My friend was able to get me the swatches for the fabric used on anastasia's Thanksgiving Day Parade dress 😭
OH MY STARS! You are so young and sooooo very talented. Your attention to detail is mind blowing. There are just not enough adjectives to describe this dress and your abilities.
This is an exceptionally well made and beautiful dress, your painstaking attention to detail has really paid off in the final piece. I have learned that if you have to ask someone if your work is ok, or you think "it'll do" it has to be redone so that you know that you have achieved your very best.
I am so inspired! I want to borrow soooo many elements for my wedding dress! Haha! How gorgeous would this look with ivory for the main dress, and keep soooo many of the floral, lace, crystal, and pink details!
I really really admire the way you take the time to simply get things right. The right look, the right colour, the right shape. Sometimes I struggle with the "I JUST WANT THIS TO BE DONE" feel and seeing how much care you put in your projects inspires me to do the same and be patient: the final result will be so much better!!
I was smiling as you were painting the flowers. I kept thinking of "Alice and Wonderland" and "painting the roses red..." except pink! I've loved watching this process, and I'm excited to see you all dressed up!
I just saw the thumbnail and was blown away. Your work is always beautiful! Okay now that I've seen the video I am even more blown away. I really wish I had your level of patience and dedication on my garments. I am seriously in love with this gown.
@@BellaMaesDesigns that's the beauty of editing 😁 you always get to show off the best parts. I still don't think I would be willing to take apart those flowers.
This is stunningly beautiful. I've never seen anything as beautiful before. I loved 'Phantom...' and have seen it several times in person as well as watching it over and over on tv. I'm glad that you are going to 'present' it so it is seen within context and give it the moment it deserves. How lucky that the assist. designer liked your efforts so much to actually message you! Having the glitter gems that were actually used on the original would have taken my breath away! I also learned alot from watching how you used the flowers, taking them apart and painting them to reforming and attaching them to the dress. I am new to your channel and this is the first video I watched. I won't be missing any more of them and I will also be going back to watch your list of videos. Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us. Watching this video was an amazing experience for me.
Layering the gauzy fabric with the lace gave it such a soft appearance! It almost resembles a watercolor painting, with the fullness of a cloud, while maintaining the light, airy quality too!
I want to say how much I enjoy the ideas, creativity and the application of your work. I'm sure many of us who wish they could create as you do are humbled by the beautiful results. I am so ....
Bella you are so talented, but beyond that, you are determined and committed. I think in sewing there is a spectrum of things being “hard”-some things are complicated, some technical, some fiddly, and others are just tedious. You have encountered all of the ways sewing is hard through this journey. I know sometimes I feel like you and the final product isn’t quite coming together like you want, no matter how you try to finagle and force it to. In those moments I find it helps to put the project in time out (so it can think about its behavior) and go do something mindless so my brain can work it out subconsciously. I absolutely adore the painted flowers and gems. I might do that for a custom bouquet and an 1860s dress as well as my version of Christine Daae’s dress. I used the painting method on some leaves from fake flowers to give them dimension and I used watered down textile paint and watercolor paint. I really admire your dress and your efforts in recreating this dress. Not gonna lie, having the actual costume designer give you the exact swarovski crystals and give you information about the dress construction is incredible and I am slightly jelly about it.

Love it gorgeous dress made in crystal organza with butterflies scattered over the dress and some silk flowers too well one can dream , like the song a fream is a wish your heart makes i may make one for a small dolly ive got
That is a great tip about painting the flowers! I often disassemble flowers and reassemble them on quilts. Now I can use up what I have and get them the right color with paint I also have on hand. Thanks! ETA: check out Lady Rebecca Fashions to see how she used an electric griddle (from the thrift shop) to attach crystals to her Elsa dress. She attached them to the finished dress while it was on the dress form. So. Many. Crystals.
What an amazing job you've done!! Congratulations on all your hard work and talent paying off so beautifully. Looking forward to the finished look 😍😍😍😍!
The finished gown is absolutely beautiful and looks so much like the gown from the movie. There are times we have to improvise to get the look we are going after and taking apart and redoing is all part of the process. Your attention to detail is really good and that is what makes a project really special and individuality yours. I probably would have airbrushed the dark pink roses a lighter color to get that vintage look. I can’t wait to see your construction process for the Cinderella gown from the movie. I have made several gowns and I know what a process it can be to create that special look!
Ah this is seriously the prettiest dress I’ve seen in my life. It fits my pink and white Aurora aesthetic so perfectly. You are so so talented. I wish I could continue sewing but I have no space for that in a dorm room ):
What a neat series you have!! The first version of POTO I saw was the 25th anniversary live movie version and have loved it ever since! Good work girl, really enjoying these videos :)
It looks so good!!!! I really like how the altered bodice looks with everything. Even with just the 1 inch difference, you can tell and everything put together is just so stunning!!!💖
Ahhh Bella Mae, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!! You should be extremely proud of yourself! I could 100% relate to your frustrations that you faced throughout the making of process and understand it can be so disheartening to re-do certain things, but seriously you have done an amazing job and all your hard work was totally worth it in the end! Can't wait to see the remainder of the videos in the series! I'm glad it's not over yet!

I saw the sneak peek of your shoot on Instagram before I watched this and I am so excited for that video!
Ah this is seriously the prettiest dress I’ve seen in my life. It fits my pink and white Aurora aesthetic so perfectly. You are so so talented. I wish I could continue sewing but I have no space for that in a dorm room ):
The dress is looking just stunning!! It’s gorgeous 💜💜💜 so keen to see the video with the finished dress reveal 💖💖💖
All of your hard work and perseverance really paid off! It's lovely!

Love it! Now I am thinking about how it will look in all white for a wedding dress... ;)
It would be cool if you could remake the Stage Show version and have that comparison. You did such an amazing job ☺️

Awww, thanks! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
