  • Why do we call it "soul winning" when we share the gospel? Do we actually "win souls" or is that the operation of the Holy Spirit? If we as Christians are not the ones who "win" the souls, then why does Proverbs 11 tell us "He that winneth souls is wise"? Perhaps we have misunderstood this passage...
Given in the Sunday morning meeting of Weare Bible Baptist Church, 8/21/22

In the old testament, before spiritual circumcision that comes in this age, a lot of times the word soul in the Old testament just means the whole person. The soul and flesh were not separate.. spoken of as one.
Now when you get saved during the church age, our flesh is cut away from from our soul and our spirit is quickened, and we are baptized in the Holy Spirit. Our candle is lit... I believe that in context that is being a "winsome" person. Obviously not compromising the scriptures but a wise man will be winsome.. he won't needlessly offend people and will be a gracious man, that speaks the truth in love. His words will Minister grace to the hears. His words will be always with grace, seasoned with salt.. the hearers will be encouraged, edified, corrected although not offended.. and left wanting to please God
