I've put in two, relatively easy long runs in my Tecton x 3s at this point (totaling 35 miles and 6,000 or so feet of vert total over the two runs). Those runs included some single track and some technical stuff. You have to get used to this shoe. This is not like any shoe I have used -- it wants to go and it is so responsive and so plush, it forces you to move faster (my first run in it, was a wild ride to use Jim's language). But, once you get used to it, it is really hard to run in anything else but this shoe -- the ride and feel is that good. It only falters on technical downhills, and even then, you get used to it. This is the first time that I have considered purchasing a second pair of a shoe to store and hold on to for next season.

Got my tecton X3 already. Very impressed but I already loved my Tecton x 2 so I am a bit biased. Getting a wee bit of heel irritation but I suspect that will go after a few more runs. The gaiter is a game changer for sure

I geniuenly want to run in the Tx2.5. Because the Tx3 aint it for me. The peba is so squishy, and there is no full plate to stop the sinking in and giving you forward energy, basically leaving you with 40mm of peba that feels more like 20mm, and a rocker that just doesnt do anything, because of how much you sink in. Like you have medial and lateral stability, yes. But as imagine a metaspeed sky, with only plates on the sides. itd be terrible.
You cannot tell me, that the extra stack and the tx2 midsole shape the 2.5 had, didnt do anything to make the rocker work and give you a more of the protection from the ground.
other than that, the Tx3 has a few things upper and outsole wise, you could update, nothing crazy. maybe a v2 update :D But the midsole needs a revision. good "first" try, but this aint the end.

Imagine your easy run being 8 miles with 1000m of climb in an hour and a half ... wild

Yeah, I have a 6 mile run I do quite a bit during the week that has like 1500 feet of climbing, and I'm stoked if I finish that run in an hour or so. I've joked with folks that I am not Jim Walmsley, and this stat only further reinforces that point. I'll be really curious to see how he does at UTMB after WSER -- an interesting storyline this week for sure.
