    Just bought 2015 WR450F with 50 hrs and stock tires, it still had issues such as tires, clutch cable, missing skid plate, chain guard. But it did come with gytr kit/ecu/tuner/fmf muffler. Used hybrid tune for 2016, replaced cable, tires, and skid plate. Its killer. Good luck fixing, I’ll be watching

    I have an 06 steel frame and it's as nice as any showroom bike ....have lot of time and cash invested in it but I love it ....still hasn't seen dirt since I started rebuild during covid lock downs ....and the motor was already done when I bought it from a yamaha certified mechanic ...it was his baby ...never raced ...never even run hard ....and he had spared no expense building the engine ....it's a handful but I love it ...

    You should consider, since you will have the head completely stripped down anyway, have the ports smoothed out from a good tuner, nothing crazy just smooth out the intake and exhaust runners, it helps throttle response, power gain from low to high rpm, better fuel economy, 4 stroke builds are very expensive but that is one of the best WR models ever and it will be an excellent desert bike.

    Right on! Interested to see what you come up with on the WR because it's one of the big bores I am considering.
    Had a dealer guy tell me rather emphatically that I'd "blow a rod out the side of the case," if'n I ever licensed it for the road lol. (evidently, the WR has that problem, you know) I listened to how much I needed a big BMW and the WR as my "one" bike. For some reason, it did not sink in. I just bowed to his eminence and left the building, never to annoy his grace again.

Reminds me of the video I saw of Big James Stewart removing the kids seats and having them stand around the track and they didn’t get their seat back until they could hit a certain lap time w/ no seat! Lol

    I have a 2012 WR450F and in my humble opinion it's so far the best 450 4 stroke off road bike I've ever ridden. I've ridden them all and I've been riding Motorcycles for 55 years. It's not that it's the fastest. It's because it's so easy to ride and handles better than it's competition. It's so far my favorite 4 stroke off road bike still to this day. And yes I like it better than the new WR. Also mine is set up for the woods and single Track trails. Also I did install a Recluse clutch and it works great on this bike. My bike is far from stock off the show room floor but I did leave the inside of the motor stock because why fix what's not broke and its after the tuning is perfection. If you want to know more about what I did to my WR just message me back. I'm in northern California.

    I had the 09 so same motor but carb. I now have a ktm 500 but miss my 450 dearly. Mine was fully adv setup with tall gearing so highway speeds with the 5 speed were still totally manageable. The WR was like sewing machine smooth compared to my ktm. The Rekluse is a crucial part to make a 450 more capable in the tight stuff IMO. I would love to take on a similar project in the near future.

    Interested to see what the wear will be. I had a 2004 450f that I bought used a few years back. I have no clue how many hours the original first owner put on the bike - he had it for 14 years. But I know that I put 300hrs myself and the bike was still pulling strong.. most of the money and time I had to spend was on the carburetor. Those engine are sure build to last... I sold it and treated myself with a brand new '21 WR450. I love those bike, although for the type of riding that I do I find the '21 suspension less comfy than the plushy one from the 04.

    I have recently got a road legal 2014 wr450f here in nz. Through very tight single track the throttle is a little jerky off bottom, clutch a tad heavy, and bike is prone to boil over. I thought about exhaust, ecu, and power tuner to clean up the bottom, but can’t find the old competition kit online anymore, so I’m going to try a throttle tamer, lower gearing, moose easy pull clutch lever (maybe 3 x yz250f clutch springs), and radiator fan. Besides from that it’s a great running and feeling machine. Just had suspension serviced and heavier springs because stock was a bit wallowy. Probably overdue for an engine rebuild too 😅

    Hi Rado , just recently bought the 2023 wr 450 it’s awesome , still have my 2003 450 which I bought new back then and never had a problem with it and am in two minds to sell it , so Rado should I hang on to it ? The main reason being is that i would only ask between four to five k for it and have checked out various sites on wrs for sale down here 🇦🇺 and the average price is between four to five k and some depending on the condition , back in 2003 I think I payed a little over 13k for it on road . So?

    • @dirtniron
      @dirtniron  8 месяцев назад +1

      hi Michael, first of all congrats! I used to have same model WR450 few years ago and it was super fun bike, that uncorked carbureted power put smile on my face each time I twisted the throttle! However, with new model (I had 2019) I dont see myself riding 2004 that much.. new bikes just do everything better and are easier to ride so at the end of the day you get more fun out of your ride and I think thats what matters the most. Go out for ride and have the best possible time. So.. if its me, I would sell 2003 and let someone else enjoy it while I would be clocking hours on 2023 ;)
      good luck mate!

Bike seems to be running good now just not hot starting very good for some reason, i put an fmf powercore Hex 4 on it so was wonderimng if that had anyting to do with it, i have the GYTR power tuner i remapped to the "hybrid" map sense i put the fmf on. i also need to use the choke for cold starting it which i never had to before,i have set the bike to 1800-1900rpm at idle. My 12 wr450 only has one knob for both the "fuel screw" and "idel screw" so maybe i just need to increase to get more fuel off start up? ive also seen that it could be my co settings?
    any tips? advice would be awesome!!
