  • Saturday June 29 2024 at 5.53 and 6.08. The 5.45 Ascot to London Waterloo (6.55) train and, from the other side, the 5.40 Waterloo to Reading (6.47) service which started 14 minutes late but arrived on time. Came here in 2011: • Egham Level Crossing and in 2017: • Egham Level Crossing and filmed both sides each time. Earlier this year the local MP said there were huge delays at this crossing. A spokesman for Network Rail said that longer waiting times have been reported since "our £375m upgrade of the signalling system across parts of Surrey, SW London and Berkshire. How, one wonders, can it possibly have cost that much? Is that £2m a signal? In 2000 a gang hijacked a van waiting at this level crossing, turned it around and drove off with it.

I have control of this Level Crossing. It was recontrolled to BROC (Basingstoke Rail Operations Centre.) Problem is that the level crossings clear as soon as the train leaves Virginia water which is far too early if you have the barriers down for a train approaching from Staines.

Thanks for your comment. Always good to hear from a professional. Sorry for the delay in responding but I'm a bit snowed under putting together daily videos. You imply that the £375m signalling system doesn't have sufficient signals to allow this crossing to be operated efficiently. It might be best not to confirm that.

@@SteveDD1 We have what is called a One Shot Button operated by the signallers. It is down to us to regulate it but also was something that Resonate were supposed to address and didn't so is causing unnecessary delays to road traffic trying to give trains what is termed as "Super Greens".
