He's always terrified. I used to live near there. One year, back in the 1980s, he was so freaked out that he bit the guy. I was quietly smiling for the groundhog, personally.

His rate of successful predictions is about 39% since 1880's, in the last decade it's been lower, about 30%, so we are more likely to be correct if we do the opposite, so there's about 70% of chance of a long winter !

He always take that long to get out or was he against the wall scared to death his little heart beating outta his chest. Poor fella needs a xanax afterwards. I did read that groundhogs do live longer in captivity an average of 14 years as to 3 to 4 in the wild .Which I guess they're a popular snack amoungst other animals and still some humans lol. But they don't mention groundhogs dying of heart attacks every year😂

Bro it's a traditional holiday for Pennsylvanians and anyone who visits from around the U.S. If Pennsylvania was a country, this would've been a National holiday 😂😂

      @@chesi_7_0_79 Dear
      @chesi_7_0_79,
I am writing to you today, trembling and sick to my stomach, to recount the most horrifying event I have ever witnessed. I am a journalist who has covered wars, natural disasters, and criminal trials, but nothing could have prepared me for what I experienced on Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
The day started off like any other Groundhog Day, with the townsfolk gathered around Gobbler's Knob, excited to find out if Phil would see his shadow. The groundhog had been brought out, held by a handler, and as the crowd waited with bated breath, something unspeakable happened.
Without warning, Punxsutawney Phil lunged at the handler, biting down hard on his genitals. The man screamed in agony as the groundhog continued to gnaw and thrash. It was a scene of pure chaos, with people screaming and running for cover.
By the time the handler was rushed to the hospital, his genitals had been torn off, leaving him in a state of unimaginable pain. The groundhog, seemingly possessed, continued to attack anyone who came near it. It even bit a police officer who attempted to subdue it with a tranquilizer dart.
I was in a state of shock, unable to comprehend what I had just seen. How could a seemingly harmless groundhog turn into a vicious predator in an instant?
As the day went on, the townsfolk became increasingly hysterical. Rumors began to spread that Phil was possessed by a vengeful spirit, seeking retribution for the cruel treatment he had received over the years. People whispered about secret rituals and satanic worship, claiming that the groundhog had been cursed.
The local authorities, clearly out of their depth, called in animal control experts and wildlife biologists to try and contain the situation. But no one seemed to know how to stop the rampaging groundhog.
As night fell, the town was in a state of lockdown, with military personnel and police officers patrolling the streets. The groundhog had disappeared, leaving a trail of blood and destruction in its wake.
I couldn't sleep that night, my mind racing with thoughts of the day's events. I couldn't shake the image of the handler's mutilated body, or the sound of Phil's ferocious growls.
The next morning, I woke up to the news that the groundhog had been found dead in a nearby forest, its body riddled with bullet holes. The authorities claimed that it had been put down to prevent further attacks, but I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
In the days that followed, the town of Punxsutawney was never the same. The annual Groundhog Day festival was cancelled, and the once-thriving tourist industry ground to a halt. The townsfolk lived in a state of fear and paranoia, convinced that the vengeful spirit of Phil would return to wreak havoc once again.
I left Punxsutawney shortly after the incident, unable to shake the feeling of dread that had settled over the town. But I could not escape the memories of that fateful day, and the horror that I had witnessed.
I will never forget the sight of Punxsutawney Phil, blood dripping from his jaws, as he tore into the handler's flesh. It was a reminder that even the most harmless of creatures can become monsters when provoked.
      Sincerely,
      [Name Redacted]
