Unfortunately, history will show that after their 90's reign, they missed on all the winning trends in the salary cap era: the Shanahan offenses and all its coaching tree, coaches from the Bill Walsh tree (Mike Holmgren, Andy Reid), the Raven way, heck, keeping Sean Payton... Hiring Chan Gailey (and missing on Randy Moss) was inexcusable. Three years of Dave Campo were inexcusable. Wade Philips after the Tuna was inexcusable. Three 7-9 seasons with Garrett were inexcusable, and yeah, squandering the cheap years of Dak Prescott was inexcusable, and so on...
Dak squandered his own cheap years. #1 seed squandered. The game out in LA. He squandered those opportunities. What was really squandered was the Romo years. Only two years did Romo have what Dak had around him. The year they lost to the Giants, and the year that the Packers stole the game in Green Bay. Those were the years where they had the QB, RB and a good offensive line. They never had the QB while Dak has been in Dallas.
Three 8-8 seasons with Garrett. And how did they squander the cheap years of Dak Prescott? Dude had an elite RB, a great O-Line, Dez Bryant for two seasons, Amari Cooper, Dalton Schultz and a solid defense outside of 2020. What about the years where Dak wasn't cheap and they still didn't get the job done?
I think Dan Orlovsky is right, I don’t think the Jones are “All In” on winning the Super Bowl like the Rams did and Saints tried after they won the first one with Drew Brees.
Just because a team goes "All-In" it doesn't guarantee you a Super Bowl win. We hear so much about the Rams and their Super Bowl win. I don't know if fans remember this or not, but the Rams barely snuck past Tampa to get in that season. The Jets went "All-In " and watched the bottom fall out the bucket after the 4th play of opening night. This idea of "All-In " is starting to get overplayed now. Just about every contending team is doing the same in their own way, but only one can come out on top. Was KC "All-In " last season? Probably not based on the requirements fans have established lately, but they still won over all these other "All-In " teams...🤔
It is very simple, they run a business and they want to maximize profit. Having your team be relevant for 10 years straight, is more profitable than winning the superbowl one year and then have 9 years of loosing. The superbowl alone does not bring enough increased profit to offset all the other costs. This makes perfect business sense, I am not sure why you guys can't see this?
it ain't about business. it's about Jerah having Total Control and getting All the Credit for the Cowboys' success. narcissistic owner + soft coaches + soft players = 28 years of Playoff failures.
While jerry does have an ego he wants to flaunt, it being about the business, the brand, is 100% correct. Jerry has a famous phrase of his, got no time for a bad time. As him and his family consider the cowboys to be a family business, most in that organization are more concerned about growth at the end of the day, and would see loosing seasons as a posibility for regression, something they dont want.
@@chuckleezodiac24 I totally disagree, Jerry cares most about the business, but he would actually be ready to take some of the risks with trades. It is Stephen Jones that is blocking these trades and doesn't want to over pay. Stephen has more say or weight currently than Jerry when it comes to trades and contracts
The truth is that the team has done enough to be good in the season, but has not come close to going all in. Jones wants to be cheap and show that they can somehow get lucky enough to win it all.
Daks had plenty of good teams didn't get it done no excuses we can talk about thos year and say he needs help but what about the past 8 years when he did have help a top 10 D top 5 O line #1 Running back in the NFL for 4 years in Zeke... multitude of weapons Cobb, Hilton, Pollard, Turpin, Dez, Ferguson, Schultz, Witten, Beasley, Ceedee Lamb, Amari Cooper, Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup
How can they be soo oblivious to the fact that THEIR WAY has not worked for 28 years !! If it was just 5 yrs into the process, well then ok....but 28 years ? That is just plain stubbornness
because we over pay our key players and take to long on contracts and the price just keeps goin up and up and up . We could of got Ceedee or Micah done last year our front office sucks .
First, the salary cap rose to $255.4 million, the Cowboys would have been more than $20 million to $30 million over the cap. Next, saving them some space, the Cowboys are rolling over $4.9 million of excess from 2023. But then there is dead money, and that is eating up $14.7 million of this year's cap. If not for restructuring Zack Martin's contract, the Cowboys would have been penalized for being way over the salary cap at 3 p.m. Wednesday, the Cowboys have a grand total of $3.07 million cap space to work with. Thats before signing Eric Kendricks the room isn't there to sign Ceedee and Micah
Dak gotta go , this is what all this boils down to. In that interview they make a great point, that Jerry’s loyalty to these players (& past players) has bitten this franchise in the ass, time and time again.
Stephen and Jerry are afraid to take a swing at a big money free agent due to past mistakes, which will make it very difficult to win in the postseason.
When the 90s team won they went and signed Charles Haley and Deion Sanders that put them over the top. If they were to get Arik Armstead and Haason Riddick and two or three significant signings to put them over the top again. They tried with Gilmore and Cooks but we saw they need more.
I dont think you can contend 3 12-win seasons is mediocrity. Their PLAYOFF record is mediocre, yes. Fully agree. And doing what the Rams did, for example, got them to winning one Super Bowl and then not getting near it again. I believe, and I've believed this for years, that what Jerry wants is to prove he can build a dynastic roster with Jimmy Johnson. You can't do that trying to get all the pieces for a one year run. What they're doing is stupid, but I think this plays into more than just a desire to be just mediocre.
The fact is that there are a lot of teams out there "that take that shot" and that shot fails spectacularly. That has happened to the Cowboys multiple times. The fact is, for every team that took the big shot to win the Super Bowl, there has been a dozen teams that did the same thing and it failed.
No line backers and Dak's ineffective when it counts the most. Dan Quinn as good as he is does put much emphasis on the defensive line as he did on the backside. Cowboys couldn't tackle. Al Harris did a darn good job. Watch in in the future as a defensive coordinator.
This is the perfect year to trade down then out of the 1st round. You can easily get a 2025 1st & some 2024 picks, and you need players. Sweat is a Zimmer kinda DT, so get him then go to work. It makes no sense waiting to extend your guys, since the price only goes up. Kendricks is where he is most needed, and he's at that point in his career that being a teacher & leader is an easy fit; especially for & with the coach that gave him the keys to the game & the system to shine in.
Salary Cap goes up as well. They can give a 5th year option to Parsons, and they can't pay every player top of the market money the same year. Dak is on his way out the doors, though, they have to get out from under that horrible contract so that will clear up a lot of space in their future to pay the next generation of contracts.
The Jones’s think they’re smarter than everyone else but they can’t win a Championship with a QB who chokes in the Big Game. Let Duk walk and trade Micah for a mess of Draft Picks. Build a great OL & DL & trade up for a good looking rookie QB. It’s not rocket science.
The Cowboys are suffering from having given horrible contracts to Elliot and Prescott. They spent huge money on those players, and neither one delivered in the big games.
I dont recall the KC Chiefs signing any good players to put them over the top. The began winning SB after they got rid of Tyreek HILL. THE solution is to keep drafting QBs. And we havent been doint that because we have Dak and they made there with Dak and now there laying on it. The problem is that they keep expecting Dak to take that big step and he hasnt been able to and may not be good enoygh to make that step. They need to begun the process again.
Winning games & Championships are 🚫 the same.Nope. Last time we were in a SB #22 was there.YET, the lie that Mike McCarthy told everyone about committing to the run game is more of conduit JJ bull crap. They let the other #22, slip away. Got $35 Mill prior & cut. Gallup & Leighton. Dak, doesn't want to win, I would of said, " Hey, restructure my deal & go get Henry. You will have another losing season!!!
Didn't a guy drop an interception that woulda finished the rams that year? They got lucky bounce that dallas hasn't gotten. What I'd the rams lost that gm...what would be said about all in?

Their was no free agency when we traded for Haley and draft picks,we built through the draft
There was no salary cap until 1994.

They signed Matheiu & Clark the year they won their first ring in 2019.
