Arnel Pineda is, indeed, very thankful for having been given this rarest opportunity of becoming Journey's lead vocalist to continue SP's legacy of the 80's and 90's and to keep it alive for another 10 years. I doubt that he is going to join any group band here anytime soon. He may show up, when invited for a gig or two. He had accomplished what he came here for, to experience ' that 15-minute fame,' successfully, I might add. This has catapulted him to worldwide exposure and, in most likelihood, might have developed a worldwide fan-base of new younger fans. For sure now, AP does not need Journey as much as when he started. Maybe, at this point in his life in his country, he could finally sit down and support himself to write his own music in his own style and enjoy singing it at his own leisure pace without undue pressure from group politics. He will be his own boss. The whole of Asia, such as Japan, Korea, China and other smaller venues, will keep him busy, and will, definitely, offer him financial stability beyond his wildest dreams.
I don’t want to see Arnel suffer through another 10 years of haters picking on him. He’s a great singer in his own rite and a fantastic performer. It’s his turn to shine on his own.
I am an SP fan and now, with AP as well !!!! After seeing AP on LIVE Concerts twice-- I was really impressed by how talented is AP as frontman of Journey-- Thanks to him for keeping the legacy of the Journey band back to life !! Congratulations to AP for his 15th year as lead singer for Journey ! Bravo AP! Joining Chicago? I saw some videos of AP singing songs from Chicago, Guns and Roses, Bryan Adams, Queen songs, Toto's songs. Air Supply, Sting songs,, etc..!! With Arnel's versatile tenor voice capabilities-- if he loses his job from Journey, he will certainly be NOT unemployed haha !! BUT..knowing AP--he will not leave Journey unless for a very good reason--say, he was told by N Schon to do so if there are problems, , or if he got sick! I just wish that AP vocals don't get trauma for constant brutal Tour LIVE Concerts ( just like SP and S Augeri ) Nothing is permanent ( for ex. SP , S A) OR ..maybe N Schon or J Cain decides to retire for some reason! who knows? Whatever is AP's decision, it's up to him..
