I’m a simple man. I hear Tambura droning C and think of Tomorrow Never Knows immediately
For good reason. Lennon had just finished reading 'The Tibetan Book of the Dead', was dipping into LSD a bit, and George had just returned from working with Ravi Shankar to learn more sitar. Two-plus-two and out came Tomorrow Never Knows. John brought a tape of it to Bob Dylan in New York to listen to. Dylan thought it was fluff. But Lennon was right: It marked a new directiion for the band.
Dylan said to John (Dylan's only comment on this amazing song): "Oh, so you're not cute anymore."
