I've said it many times before: your work is artistry. The beauty that you capture is truly a spiritual thing. Your mastery of photography, your music selection, your editing, and narration: watching you weekly is a form of meditation.
I've said it before but I'll say it again: BRAVO!

My dear Cat, Whenever I need a Sierra fix I ALWAYS turn to you ..I miss my backpacking SO much. My wife has severe osteoporosis and has basically a surgery a year for the last decade. In order to keep my spirits high for her, ( when I get down) I go to you for my dose of the Sierras. I've backpacked them since I was in Boy Scouts where I fell in love with them. I am 74 now. So Thank you so much for continuing to go back so I can vicariously relive the places that are so very dear to me! Your beautiful videos combined with awesome music and commentary is what keeps me going and positive for my wife. But my very first love has always been the magic of the sierras. Thank you so very much!

As to bears, once in Yellowstone on a trail following Panther Creek towards Quadurant mountain where my dad was doing some geologic mapping we saw at least a dozen black bears. We just kept our distance and they seamed happy. The early June weather was incredible so sleeping under the stars, one morning I woke to a bull moose not more the ten feet away. Laying on the ground and seeing such a huge animal (looked like he was ten feet tall) I just watched as he looked at me while chewing his cud. I knew all I could do is lie still and watch this magnificent animal as he watched me. Holly smokes I must have been 8 years old.

From the beginning to the end, and everything in between, brings such tranquility. You are so talented in matching music with your cinematography. I love your opening images, and the image at 21:43 of the lake with the reflection of mountains and sky. Also your sage advice on solo backpacking. Although my backpacking days are long behind me, I still enjoy shorter hikes when time and health permit. By bringing colder weather gear and a headlamp, I can enjoy some of the beauty of backpacking, but without having to carry the weight. I hike down in the dark, after enjoying the sunset, moonrise and stars. Having been impacted by 3 disasters within the span of 2 years, your videos have helped to reduce my stress, transporting me to the present tranquil moment. Thank you and God bless you!

For any folks near Missouri, we have a state park that is an excellent training set up for backpacking. Hawn State Park south of St. Louis is a central campground that has many spokes that lead out to a full circle trail. The circle is about eight miles with each spoke around one mile. This means that if you take one spoke out and come back that same spoke it is ten miles, but beginners or parents with teens that they want to get started can plan any length they wish by doing a spoke out part of the circle then another spoke in. I was never a backpacker, but we use to take the kids there to camp in the normal state camping center and do day trips out and around and back in thus having many possible day trips through different trails. Beautiful park. Have not been there in decades but really miss the experiences. Just a heads up for those not out west.

My wife and I were on that trail ( Hite Cove Trail) about 3 months prior. Supposedly they were experienced , but just how experienced is the question. That day it reached 109 degrees, with absolutely no shade. Much of the trail is totally exposed on the mountain side with only light scrub brush. When found, they were out of water even though a branch of the Merced river was at the bottom of the ravine, and about a mile and a half from the trail head. Very sad.
Even though my wife and I love to hike, we do not consider ourselves (experienced), we do not over estimate our ability . Know your limitations and prepare for the worst.
