This is one of his better ones. He has a few more "expressive" pieces where solo voices and instruments are featured; those I suppose are his version of "concerti". Not a fan of those. But he's at his best when channeling some universal Idea (capital I) with the piano or full orchestra. It must have really inspired radical European artists the continent over in its time; it certainly seems to have inspired LaMonte Young and company. And vice-versa.
