Try again bro or redo the pos guitar. My greatest accomplishment was I took a pos guitar and transformed into a steel guitar and sold for 6 times more than what my dad gave for it at Montgomery wards in 1968.
Hellyeah! Can't wait! Im really gettin more and more interested in crafting guitars. I have a project of my own that i wouls want to finish. Thanks you to show us how!
My favorite part was the camera shot where we saw your safety gear. So many people forget what they are breathing and never cover their eyes. Awesome build!!!!!
this is so relaxing that i’d fall asleep on and off during the sanding portions. don’t mean that as an insult either. such soft and gentle technique making the whole sculpt look and feel like butter with such beautiful natural design from the wood all under the time lapse just sets your mind down the best most relaxing thing you could watch. not even to mention the guitar in the background complimenting the whole thing. really hope i can make something like this one day.
Might I recommend a trapezoidal neck profile for your next build? I filed one of my necks into a straight endurneck-type profile which is completely flat on each plane and it instantly became my favorite neck. You can't really find them out in the wild so your only option is to kinda build or shape your own, and you have the tools and knowledge to do so...just a thought. I know it changed the way I interact with the neck on a tactile level for the better.
Thanks for sharing...seeing all the labor of love and quality tools going into building a quality instrument, I have no problem spending 1000 or more on a good guitar.
Stunning craftsmanship, I have started making gascan and cigar box guitars in the hopes of eventually selling them, your videos are very inspirational, thank you.
yay! I was among the first 500 subscribers of this new awesome guitar building channel! Awesome content, good editing, not much talking and no sponsors all over the place and in every camera angle. Fun to watch, GJ.
Wow... - you have golden hands... ...and more tools and machines than some (bigger) companies that I know (leastways in my area) - and some of it I´ve seen in fact the first time today! Unbelievable... At first, I wanted to watch only a few minutes... ...and then I couldn't stop more - simply too fascinating, watching "the birth" of a handmade custom-guitar. I wish I would have a comparable talent...
Cranmer Guitars it sure looks like it! It also looks like it would help beginners. Imagine what a beginner guitarist would sound like without the dorito finnish 😂
This is a brilliant idea for a video. If I were a custom shop I would make one like this, too. There are MANY builders who rely heavily on assembling parts. There is nothing wrong with that. However, if a luthier has the skill set to build from scratch, proving it on RUclips for everyone to see makes a lot of sense. Well done👍
Question: Why the scarf joint? I have an electric without one, and an acoustic with one, and I'm curious as to why you use them. I've heard 'glue is stronger than the wood', 'keeps grain angles correct', and 'material not long enough' but have never had the opportunity to ask an actual luthier about his/her reasons. Thanks in advance, and love your videos.
Thanks for the comment! You answered most of the question yourself, but another reason is that it's more cost effective as less wood is used. The main benefit to me is the strength!
Great job, Awesome guitar. I have made a few guitars and I can appreciate your craftsmanship. I like the tiger (curly) maple on the front of the guitar. I made a box guitar and used wormy (ambrosia) maple for the front and back with walnut on the sides. I used hickory for the neck.
Excellent video and process. I am inspired by your design and follow through making the guitar as close to perfect as you can. I stopped working to watch your build twice. Well worth the time. Thank you for sharing.
I watched this video in order to better describe what I wanted done to any of my many guitars when I had to have repairs, changes, or upgrades done so I wouldn't sound like a dunce to my luthier. I learned a lot about your process and some terminology from watching this video. Thanks.
I think I’m gonna build a guitar of similar construction sometime soon, so this video helps a lot! I’ve had a body style I’ve been drawing up that I thought would be cool since I was a kid. I think I’ll leave the sides of the top unfinished for a natural wood binding though 🤔
Being an armchair QB and critiquing this would be easy and also stupid. Incredible skill and use of hand tools outstanding. Someday I will try this but not at your level. Incredible.
You have some nice techniques.... Using pegs to keep the veneers in alignment is something that, after seeing it, should be obvious, but I had not seen that used like you did. I am gong to add that to my skill set. But I never understood something in neck construction: Which the tension of the strings, why would someone opt for a scarf joint to change the angle between the head and neck? Or is it just that the glue line is hard to see in that type of joint?
Great job! Maybe I'd like to go deeper in in the electric welding parts. And I enjoyed music while watching the video. Can you tell me who is playing and what?
Just wondering how much time the whole process takes. You could end the video with a sound test maybe? Great work - a beautiful instrument came out of it!
I did want to build my own guitar and after watched this I just get 2 jobs for month or two and go buy one, can't effort all the tools needed for the job. GREAT looking guitar.
Wow......beautiful! .... got a question that no one has tried to answer for me..... i dont know what im doing wrong.... but, after i level all the frets with stewmac beam, and also sand down the 13th through the 22 and check everything with fret rocker..and everything registers flat....... then string up, get everything to industry standard dimensions ......at that point i get string buzz..... asking for any help possible.... this has been the problem on most of my hand built guitars ....seams where neck meets body is culprit, but dont know what to do .....
Very good job, what I am suspicious of is the glue of the head to the guitar handle, because of the tension it supports, it would not have been better to put some metal reinforcements, as when they repair a broken handle head? Greetings from Argentina , I love the world of lutheria, as an amateur, greeting teacher!
Thanks Diego! Most head repairs will be Gibson's that were cut from a single piece of wood. The glue is much stronger than the wood if you have a good join. I can absolutely guarantee that if this head were to break, it would not be along the glue line.
I was trying to think of a really smart comment but I can’t so. This is an amazing looking guitar. Almost a piece of art. Will that do ? Fantastic video. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That was one intensive labor of love to observe. I'm not sure if you actually make and sell, however, you might consider it. If only three a year are made it would drive collectors crazy and you could name your price.
Really liked seeing the engineering lathe come into play to turn wood😂 Enjoyed the dark material sawdust being mixed in with the glue for the dowels too. Do you actually need a truss rod?
Reminds me of a Danelectro bass shape. The tulip one. Very cool. I’m assuming the soundtrack during the build was the actual guitar? Otherwise I’d really like to hear it. Awesome job though!
Did you put conditioner on the wood before staining or was that straight poly? Always use conditioner on wood before staining or else it turns dark and blotchy !
@@CranmerGuitars Awesome, thanks for the tip! I haven't been brave enough to try my hand at handcrafting an axe but I may give it a shot one of these days lol

Simply Beautiful,, it has a Paul Reed Smith kinda vibe, I tried to build my own guitar but instead of a PRS it was a POS.
Yea mine was a bender not a fender

Take heart Brother, just try again using the lessons you learnt from the first one, good luck.
I made a Bigsob not a Gibson
Perfect nice🎸😍
That takes a whole hell of a lot of knowing WTF you're doing. Great job man

Understanding of measurements and mechanics.
It's easier if you start doing it!

Did you ever get into making it? If so, how did it go?
Man, shaping the neck by hand. You have mastered your art.
My girlfriend found me staring at the screen of my PC, heard the music and asked me "are you watching porn..?!?"
Me: "no... but actually yes..."

Looks like an awesome build much better than alot we see in the uk luthier scene
The pacing of this video is impeccable- just the right amount of footage sped up appropriately , mixed with spellbinding craftsmanship
Thank you for the wonderful comment; however, it did not help my ego in the slightest!

Really Beautiful.
Also illustrates what careful hand work can accomplish.
Enjoyed watching that a lot.
One of the better videos on RUclips. Looks great, nice job!
Using an alignment peg on the drill press to locate your string ferrules is a sneaky little trick. I like it.
Love this, would just point out that when drilling on a drill press, clamps are a good idea...
What a beautiful expression of your love and devotion went into this build 🎸🥰
Brilliantly done ! The design of guitar is very soothing too. It was truly inspiring
By the way what was the build time for this guitar ?

18:57 - I don't fully understand what happened here. Did the paint job get damaged?
