I used your 2022 system and loved it, but my ADHD brain wanted something different so I moved to Thomas Franks Ultimate Brain system. But now that you've updated the system I'm moving back! This aligns with my needs so much better! The aesthetic is so clean and minimal that it won't clutter my ADHD brain and take away from the real work! Thank you!

I just dropped $70 something on a direct competitors template and was not pleased with the overly complicated layout and the work I had to put into getting some of the features like recurring tasks to function. I'm pleased to say that I picked up your template right after and I'm blown away! This template is amazing. Everything just works. I'm a long-time Obsidian user, and made the switch to Notion because I don't have time to fiddle with things anymore. Your guides and overall packaging of the template down to the PDFs are on-point. I can't wait to see what you add next.
Hi Simon, first of all thanks for the work put in this system, I'm using it every day. I would like to make a suggestion regarding the financial tracker. I think it would be nice if in the expenditure database we could use sub items. For example we have the main item as FOOD and the sub items would be for example the various shops where I would buy the food. In the amount column of the sub items I would add the value as I am buying. After that in the column Amount of the parent item (FOOD) I would like to appear by it's own the sum of those sub item amounts. Therefore I could simply check if I am on budget or not (if I have established for example at the beginning of each month a budget). I have tried this and currently the database it is not doing the auto sum of the sub items. I would have to manual change each time I go shopping the amount of the main page (FOOD in this example) to check if I am on budget. Hope I was clear in communicating this idea... Can habits be setup so that they occur only on certain days? It would be cool if you could repopulate the full calendar with recurring tasks at the recurrence specified instead of having to drop it in in the planning section
Great piece of work, but for my ADHD brain it's unnecessarily complicated and with my natural OCD, I would spend way too much time organising and filing and rearanging than with actual productive work based on the data I put in.

Hi there - yes - I have a Life OS guides playlist that demos many of the main sections of the template and how to use it, or check out my Notion From Scratch playlist that is a step by step build along for a similar but simpler version of a Life OS. Building the main template from scratch would be months of full time work: hence the option to a. Buy it and use your time to learn it and earn instead! Or b. Learn to build a simpler one so you understand it all from a build perspective, but within a realistic time frame. :)
Yes it does, but a very different one: and tbh: I think it’s too complex. You are best waiting on my release of the new update for the complete life Os that will have a more versatile version of the simplified habit tracker with more options for frequency etc :)

Eesh Notion is $8-$10 a month. Worth it? I'm just a regular person with not a lot going on. I want an organizational tool, but $120/year until death is quite the expense. I read somewhere that Notion used to be $30/year.
question! beneath the main synced toggle menu in the left hand navigation denoted by a circle, there are many pages what contain a right and down arrow denoted toggle menu beneath it- i'm curious what that is for on the respective pages? in finance, for example, para, etc. further, i noticed the same symbol marking toggle menus at the very top of many of the dashboards - just wondering what their purpose / contents are - thanks!

I have been struggling to find a system where I can do multiple things without feeling like I am using a tool for something it wasn’t intended for and it ends up feeling clunky. BS. No way HIS template fits YOUR needs. The magic of Obsidian is it can be adapted for what you want when it comes to learning, writing, thinking and creating. And it is free.
Yes, templates are there to be adapted. I tried obsidian but it didn’t serve me well for what I wanted to do. I think you are missing the point here: anyone claiming a template is one size fits all, that is BS. I’m not. If people are interested in Notion, I’d recommend staring with Free templates or building from scratch and getting exactly what you want / seeing if it works for you. :)

When I duplicated the template, I get a blank section on the main page under tracker. It's in the template before duplication but not after. Actually, I have found that the duplication has a lot of issues, it didn't copy many of the items over and I'm missing quite a bit of info.
Hi Claudia - have replied in discord and on email to you 🤗 - it is one of two things - 1. the synced blocks have either not copied in some places or they are just indexing in Notion workspace due to the amount of new pages added in one go - like search - you may find they all turn up over night! I had this kind of thing happen before when duplicating. 2. There is a bug with Notion duplicating synced blocks. If it is the later - I will update the guides and affected synced blocks to be simple duplications and replace. Then it will all be fine. Either way - it will be fixed soon and you will see what you need, or you can re duplicate it when I’ve edited! Happy weekend - speak soon. :)

OMG! just bought the system without even knowing a bit about notion. I am a trial and error kinda guy, so to learn anything, its a hassle that I need to go through that I need atleast a couple tries to fail, learn from it and learn it fully. Currently at 5th iteration of seeing this video, quite an informative video. I am learning this powerful system bit by bit. Sometimes its the notion and sometimes its the life OS that I learn. But I am blown away at how much integrated this system is. I have so many ideas on how can I use this system. This is one smart all in one place to manage everything, tasks, goals, habits all of it dude. Where bad you been Simon. I love you so much for gifting me this. This is a steal compared to price I paid and what I will reap out of it.

Love the entire thing! Been working on an alternative version of the habit tracker for myself and loved the feature where you clock on the button to add a journal entry and it marks off as journaled for the day. Now I have set the journal formula to not empty(prop) but then on the overview, only the checkbox appears not the label Journaled - how did you get around that?
I can't figure out for the life of me how to merge Readwise into the Knowledge database. The instructions in the Life OS are a bit confusing. I would give anything for a video tutorial or even screenshot explanations on that.
Hi Crystal - ah yes - essentially you need to set up the Notion readwise integration: and then merge / swap out the old knowledge database with the one Readwise created… so - as you might imagine it feels like too big a tutorial to create: really; there are many ways to approach integrating it: and it should depend on the experience of the user in Notion. I made a video on this for the last version of the template: but it seemed to complex to explain to a new user - so I decided not to :)
PARA is such a joke. A ploy to sell his book. Even in his video, he has to employ further organizational strategies (naming conventions) to keep things organized. Why not just have AA (Areas, Archived)? Area is this amazing space where everything is organized in one spot. It's so amazing, then I use naming conventions to further organize things. It's the most productive system I have ever come up with. I can't stare at it long enough, or from too many angles.

Is this the best one out there? I am still looking for one. So far, your second brain version seems to be the most thoughtful and comprehensive one. I am still looking if I will purchase one and get started with or just keep exploring and make my own simplified version. Maybe learning and following the startegy from other experts is a better way than exploring on my own. Question, how did you come out with this final version of Life OS? I mean, did you do tons of researches and follow best practices and stuff like that? How long did you take to finish them up? This is amazing!!! It's overwhelming. I am a small biz owner who , creates products , and marketing on RUclips, Instagram, etc. I have a FB group, website, newsletter, and 1 day a blog. Also a mom of two, and would like to get exercise on my daily to-do. Do you think your Life OS would be a good fit for me? I am overwhelmed by all of the features. I would first like to start with tasks, and a content manager. Is there a way to just focus on those pieces to begin with, then as I have "mastered" those continue to other areas. OR, would it be better to start with something smaller that manages, content creation, tasks, and projects?
Hi Cara, thanks, and yes it could be that way indeed! Yes - the best option is to just use the elements that work for you and start small - and then build up from there. I’ve just filmed a series of videos for onboarding and doing just that - the basics first steps for tasks and setting areas / goals / projects. Out over the next few weeks on RUclips - I think those will help. But also - based on what you describe - you might prefer to try my Creative OS template that is a reduced version of a life OS that can manage tasks / projects etc and includes the whole content manager system. Also, is adding goals the same process as adding a new habit? Not every project May be associated to one of the three goals but may want the project to have its own goals.

I have a question about the 'Notion Finance Tracker: Income & Expenses' section. Does it have the ability to track savings and investments? Can you have income and expenses linked to a bank account in Notion? From the overview you gave, it seems targeted more towards freelancers than a personal finance dashboard? I love the look of this template but I'm looking at more of a personal finance overview. is this something you are looking at adding to overtime or maybe doing a separate template?. It might be nice that each section could be bought separately, kind of pick n mix style (not sure if that's doable with the database structure) it's a big investment up front if you could buy a few parts and see how it goes and add sections to it over time. Thanks for the thoughts and question. :) Yes - I think for Bank and investments connection a. It would need an API integration to be added by users and b. I don’t know if Notion’s privacy strength is enough for many people to use it for this kind of thing. The tracker in the template is definitely built to focus more on tracking expenses and income for freelancers and a small cRM style process for creators or people who want to manage clients simply. :) that said - it’s a template so I’m sure people could adapt to more involved needs if they choose! Question - I notice that the templates seem to be taking up a place holder in the inbox under their respective modules. I am incorrect? If not, is it annoying having the templates just hanging and visible around in the system instead of hidden? Thanks!
Hi ! Not quite sure what you mean here. Templates can only be seen under the new button list on a database view. Tasks will go to the inbox when you add a new one, and then filter from the inbox once added to a related project… more guide videos coming very soon now I’ve learnt more about the essentials new users are needing :) thanks, Simon
Any plans to have a more in depth dive into the financial tracker? I tried going through an older video of yours and combined here and am having issues with set up given bi-weekly payments and making it output valuable reports regarding being on budget or not. Loving every other aspect of Life OS!
Thanks for downloading and great to read! :) yes - I have a new video on the financial tracker planned - but it will be a little while off - likely late November. Just been filming videos on notes and knowledge at moment. For bi-weekly recurring payments - you can use a recurring no database template as per recurring tasks instructions. For variable output reports - I have included them for individual items - but until I look at updates on formulas / roll ups for the balance database section of it - it would be best for you to look into creating a report formula there. I'm trying to integrate features of this life OS into my own workspace, I love what you have done with the yearly summary and planning, I'm wondering how you set up the year report view if I understand it correctly it seems to automatically track your year with the information you put in your habit tracker and other databases, also on your para dashboard how did you for example within the areas gallery view get it to read "1 related project",

I would think so - I designed the buttons and pages to be mobile friendly along with the mobile view pages for the dash. Notion’s app will be very similar on android to iOS. :)
Hey there, bought the template and loving it. What I am trying to figure out is a method of showing a "Tasks completed yesterday" and "Tasks completed this week" view. Is it possible that when a task is marked as complete, the end date can be updated to the current date so it can be used as the filter?
Yes absolutely - duplicate a task view and then change the filters to do this: so probably where do date is yesterday or in the last week and done is checked essentially. Or you could use the new automations for adding a completed date in a new date column that adds ‘NOW’ when the status is changed to complete - video coming out on just that next week! :)

Hi! Yes - use the onboarding button for the first 3 - then you can manually add as many as you like in usual way in a database + you will want to create new tags for goal numbers. The idea of the Notion template really - to be adapted! :)
Hi! Everything other than the creative OS section is included - so the main thing you wouldn’t get in Notion OS is the system for managing content / client contracts / client portal etc. The bundle / creative OS also has a more robust CRM and integration with the finance tracker - but I have still included a contacts manager and finance tracker in Notion Life OS - they just don’t have the Creative OS integration. Is there a way to add a daily metric such as hours of sleep, readiness score from a fitness tracker, etc. and then review these to notice trends in health/mood over time?
I'm thinking the easiest way is to duplicate the "journal" but every time I do that, it doesn't allow me to make changes to the duplicate without affecting the original.

I am still tweaking your system but I love so many sections and connections you created internally and it is being super helpful, so thank you for all your effort! Quick question, I noticed there's a Decision Maker dashboard reference on the Life OS that you are still working on and have not yet released. I am wondering if you had an ETA for that. I ordered the Building a Second Brain book by Tiago Forte yesterday that should arrive tomorrow, I might aswell use this video as inspiration. Tho I see alot of people saying that yeah Notion can do everything Tasks/Notes/Bookmarks/Recipes and basically anything yeah but people are saying that it's not good in any of these things, Yes you can do practically anything but it's not good at any of the things
There’s some truth to this. It’s definitely not the best task manager. There are many better note taking apps, especially for the purpose of a second brain. Notion lacks the advanced linking features of other apps like Obsidian, and I’m fairly sure you can’t even add hashtags to pages in Notion without some kind of database. The search is basic, and you can’t filter results. It’s basically just a search box where you type a word and it gives a location of pages that include that word. Other advanced apps have features like sorting searches by date, category, folders, hashtags, etc. when it comes to storing large amounts of information, it’s fine, but the pages all feel siloed. You end up feeling like everything needs to be in a database (which requires manual upkeep) or you feel like you need to hunt down the specific page you’re looking for. In other apps, you can discover and link ideas intuitively through backlinking and unlinked references. Notion has page linking, but that’s it. It’s adequate but not a “second brain” in my opinion. Notion is pretty good at most things, but it’s definitely not the best at very many of them. One other issue with Notion comes to mind. It’s a highly customizable ecosystem that’s basically on its own island. That sounds like a good thing until you look beneath the surface. What happens if you ever want to leave Notion? Your data and pages are all locked into this customized system. It would be a serious pain to export your second brain from Notion. You also have to ask yourself why the template is for Notion rather than say another productivity app. The answer is that there’s no money in selling productivity systems that tell you to go to the App Store and download Todoist to track your tasks. There’s no money in telling you to use a calendar app that comes on your phone to track your events. There’s no money in telling you to use Apple Notes or Day One for journaling. This brings me to my last point about having an all in one system in Notion. As soon as you realize that a task manager app is more efficient and intuitive that 99% of the Notion templates out there, you’re going to begin cheating on your Notion productivity system. Eventually, you’ll stop using it entirely. As much as I’m hating on Notion, it’s not all bad. This system seems legitimately nice. I really like his work, or I wouldn’t be on this video. My reservations have more to do with the Notion ecosystem than this template.
Great template as always! I notice that many users have questions on how to transfer all the data between Ridewise and the new OS system. Hopefully, we can see a video tutorial soon on how we can do de transfer. Greetings from mexico

Yes indeed - integrating a Readwise database is very doable but requires a lot of unlinking and relinking relational databases and re merging in a template like this - so only advisable to people with very good Notion knowledge. I will look at making a guide video in the future :)

Bought the template last night. Dumb question (I am new to this stuff): is there a recommended way of dealing with mundane tasks in Life OS? Should I just set up a project for "dull administrative work tasks" and another for "dull administrative life tasks"? I'm thinking of things like replying to an email, buying some milk, that sort of thing. I ask because when I see the list of your projects there doesn't seem to be anything like that in there. Or do you just have a more interesting life than me?
Haha - it’s totally up to you! I only put a few examples in to the template. I’d say set projects for parts of life as you see fit, but for tiny tasks - can often be better to do them quick and not process them into system if that would take longer! Maybe a general life admin project? :)

Hello : I purchased Notion Life OS Bundle on April 11th via your website and not gumroad. I have not received any email to upgrade either. Could you please advise how to upgrade. Being relatively new to Notion (I have my own simple dashboards set up etc) , the template I have is a massive blob of ambiguity. It looks nothing like the organizational views (like quick actions, New note etc). Rather practically there is a list of all dashboards and it starts with " View of Daily Tracker Database (3 pages) View of Tasks Data base, view of Projects Database etc. The "Guidebooks" are similarly inadequate with a couple of lines under screen shots. Could you please help. Maybe I need to upgrade to the newer version. Please direct. What you are selling via your website and what you are displaying in this video tutorial are not the same
Hi there - this is very strange - you will have downloaded the latest version from these links, but the template should still be duplicating to your workspace as a copy of the one shown on the video: nothing has been changed and other customers are downloading and using it happily. Please email me at notion@bettercreating.com with a screenshot of the menu you are describing and what is different… Sorry to read you feel the ‘guidebooks’ are inadequate - I’ve tried to keep them as clean and precise as possible - perhaps I need to look again at some edits for the onboarding and instructions for those newer to Notion too. If you are very new to Notion - this is a big template with lots of functionality to get started with - so might feel a little overwhelming to start with. Yes - the habit planner set the target and the actual is shown in the year reports. :) there is a more complex update I could make to count in the habit planner AND see the checkboxes in the daily tracker / bullet journal - but I think this combo is the best option. :)

Hi Simon. Love this but I have a question… is there a way to set this up for two users? For example, I want to both myself and my wife to be able to access a lot of the tasks, knowledge, etc, but for us to be able to have our own areas for goals, etc?
Absolutely - whilst life OS is a personal system it easy adapts to sharing. I use it with my editors and VA. tasks have an ‘assignee’ property already. And it would be super easy to add a ‘Person’ column / property to any other databases you wish to share, and even create filtered views by person as a personal home page if you wanted. The main issue would be you would need a paid Notion account to share a workspace / team space together - but the lowest paid plan is plenty. Hope that helps! I use Todoist for tasks - currently I embed that into my Notion. Could I also do that with your pre-built template or would that remove the ability to link tasks throughout the Life OS set up?
Nice idea - I haven’t tried it but there is no reason I can see (other than the questions of subtasks…?) that you can’t. Todoist integration using an api with the task database - people do it. :)

Thanks for the message - the template cones with the matching dark mode covers - so you should simply need to swap out the custom images for the main dashboards using those, and then switch to dark mode - looks good! You could do the same with the database page templates so it all was in dark - shame Notion don’t yet offer dark and light mode image options. :)
This a bit confusing. You start new year plan, put in your vision, goals, milestones etc then you have to reproduce them in the goals and milestones database.
It's meant as an option to do the thinking cleanly without having to worry about the programming. I prefer just writing first. But of course - you can just jump straight to input! :)

I just dropped $70 something on a direct competitors template and was not pleased with the overly complicated layout and the work I had to put into getting some of the features like recurring tasks to function. I'm pleased to say that I picked up your template right after and I'm blown away! This template is amazing. Everything just works. I'm a long-time Obsidian user, and made the switch to Notion because I don't have time to fiddle with things anymore. Your guides and overall packaging of the template down to the PDFs are on-point. Hi Simon, first of all thanks for the work put in this system, I'm using it every day.
I would like to make a suggestion regarding the financial tracker. I think it would be nice if in the expenditure database we could use sub items. For example we have the main item as FOOD and the sub items would be for example the various shops where I would buy the food. In the amount column of the sub items I would add the value as I am buying. After that in the column Amount of the parent item (FOOD) I would like to appear by it's own the sum of those sub item amounts. Therefore I could simply check if I am on budget or not (if I have established for example at the beginning of each month a budget). I have tried this and currently the database it is not doing the auto sum of the sub items. I would have to manual change each time I go shopping the amount of the main page (FOOD in this example) to check if I am on budget. Hope I was clear in communicating this idea...

Can habits be setup so that they occur only on certain days? It would be cool if you could repopulate the full calendar with recurring tasks at the recurrence specified instead of having to drop it in in the planning section
Great piece of work, but for my ADHD brain it's unnecessarily complicated and with my natural OCD, I would spend way too much time organising and filing and rearanging than with actual productive work based on the data I put in.

Hi there - yes - I have a Life OS guides playlist that demos many of the main sections of the template and how to use it, or check out my Notion From Scratch playlist that is a step by step build along for a similar but simpler version of a Life OS. Building the main template from scratch would be months of full time work: hence the option to a. Buy it and use your time to learn it and earn instead! Or b. Learn to build a simpler one so you understand it all from a build perspective, but within a realistic time frame. :)

Yes it does, but a very different one: and tbh: I think it’s too complex. You are best waiting on my release of the new update for the complete life Os that will have a more versatile version of the simplified habit tracker with more options for frequency etc :)

Eesh Notion is $8-$10 a month. Worth it? I'm just a regular person with not a lot going on. I want an organizational tool, but $120/year until death is quite the expense. I read somewhere that Notion used to be $30/year.
question! beneath the main synced toggle menu in the left hand navigation denoted by a circle, there are many pages what contain a right and down arrow denoted toggle menu beneath it- i'm curious what that is for on the respective pages? in finance, for example, para, etc. further, i noticed the same symbol marking toggle menus at the very top of many of the dashboards - just wondering what their purpose / contents are - thanks!

BS. No way HIS template fits YOUR needs. The magic of Obsidian is it can be adapted for what you want when it comes to learning, writing, thinking and creating. And it is free.
Yes, templates are there to be adapted. I tried obsidian but it didn’t serve me well for what I wanted to do. I think you are missing the point here: anyone claiming a template is one size fits all, that is BS. I’m not. If people are interested in Notion, I’d recommend staring with Free templates or building from scratch and getting exactly what you want / seeing if it works for you. :)

When I duplicated the template, I get a blank section on the main page under tracker. It's in the template before duplication but not after. Actually, I have found that the duplication has a lot of issues, it didn't copy many of the items over and I'm missing quite a bit of info.
Hi Claudia - have replied in discord and on email to you 🤗 - it is one of two things - 1. the synced blocks have either not copied in some places or they are just indexing in Notion workspace due to the amount of new pages added in one go - like search - you may find they all turn up over night! I had this kind of thing happen before when duplicating. 2. There is a bug with Notion duplicating synced blocks. If it is the later - I will update the guides and affected synced blocks to be simple duplications and replace. Then it will all be fine. Either way - it will be fixed soon and you will see what you need, or you can re duplicate it when I’ve edited! Happy weekend - speak soon. :)

OMG! just bought the system without even knowing a bit about notion. I am a trial and error kinda guy, so to learn anything, its a hassle that I need to go through that I need atleast a couple tries to fail, learn from it and learn it fully. Currently at 5th iteration of seeing this video, quite an informative video. I am learning this powerful system bit by bit. Sometimes its the notion and sometimes its the life OS that I learn.
But I am blown away at how much integrated this system is. I have so many ideas on how can I use this system. This is one smart all in one place to manage everything, tasks, goals, habits all of it dude. Where bad you been Simon. I love you so much for gifting me this. This is a steal compared to price I paid and what I will reap out of it.

Love the entire thing! Been working on an alternative version of the habit tracker for myself and loved the feature where you clock on the button to add a journal entry and it marks off as journaled for the day. Now I have set the journal formula to not empty(prop) but then on the overview, only the checkbox appears not the label Journaled - how did you get around that?
I can't figure out for the life of me how to merge Readwise into the Knowledge database. The instructions in the Life OS are a bit confusing. I would give anything for a video tutorial or even screenshot explanations on that.
Hi Crystal - ah yes - essentially you need to set up the Notion readwise integration: and then merge / swap out the old knowledge database with the one Readwise created… so - as you might imagine it feels like too big a tutorial to create: really; there are many ways to approach integrating it: and it should depend on the experience of the user in Notion. I made a video on this for the last version of the template: but it seemed to complex to explain to a new user - so I decided not to :)
PARA is such a joke. A ploy to sell his book. Even in his video, he has to employ further organizational strategies (naming conventions) to keep things organized. Why not just have AA (Areas, Archived)? Area is this amazing space where everything is organized in one spot. It's so amazing, then I use naming conventions to further organize things. It's the most productive system I have ever come up with. I can't stare at it long enough, or from too many angles.

Is this the best one out there? I am still looking for one. So far, your second brain version seems to be the most thoughtful and comprehensive one. I am still looking if I will purchase one and get started with or just keep exploring and make my own simplified version. Maybe learning and following the startegy from other experts is a better way than exploring on my own. Question, how did you come out with this final version of Life OS? I mean, did you do tons of researches and follow best practices and stuff like that? How long did you take to finish them up? Lastly, if I am getting the Life OS now but in the future if I need to get the Creative OS, can it be installed on the Life OS project? Thanks.

This is amazing!!! It's overwhelming. I am a small biz owner who , creates products , and marketing on RUclips, Instagram, etc. I have a FB group, website, newsletter, and 1 day a blog. Also a mom of two, and would like to get exercise on my daily to-do. Do you think your Life OS would be a good fit for me? I am overwhelmed by all of the features. I would first like to start with tasks, and a content manager. Is there a way to just focus on those pieces to begin with, then as I have "mastered" those continue to other areas. OR, would it be better to start with something smaller that manages, content creation, tasks, and projects?
Hi Cara, thanks, and yes it could be that way indeed! Yes - the best option is to just use the elements that work for you and start small - and then build up from there. I’ve just filmed a series of videos for onboarding and doing just that - the basics first steps for tasks and setting areas / goals / projects. But also - based on what you describe - you might prefer to try my Creative OS template that is a reduced version of a life OS that can manage tasks / projects etc and includes the whole content manager system. I’m surprised that your template does not incorporate the use of Notion AI?
It does - notion ai is just part of Notion and can be used with / function. I also have a ‘copilot’ quick page to use in the main menu. :)

I have a question about the 'Notion Finance Tracker: Income & Expenses' section. Does it have the ability to track savings and investments? Can you have income and expenses linked to a bank account in Notion? From the overview you gave, it seems targeted more towards freelancers than a personal finance dashboard? I love the look of this template but I'm looking at more of a personal finance overview. is this something you are looking at adding to overtime or maybe doing a separate template?. It might be nice that each section could be bought separately, kind of pick n mix style (not sure if that's doable with the database structure) it's a big investment up front if you could buy a few parts and see how it goes and add sections to it over time. Thanks for the thoughts and question. :) Yes - I think for Bank and investments connection a. It would need an API integration to be added by users and b. I don’t know if Notion’s privacy strength is enough for many people to use it for this kind of thing. The tracker in the template is definitely built to focus more on tracking expenses and income for freelancers and a small cRM style process for creators or people who want to manage clients simply. :) that said - it’s a template so I’m sure people could adapt to more involved needs if they choose! I'm tempted to buy this even though I could take the time to figure out how to recreate all the pieces I like to fit my own processes, templates, and dashboards.... but every new section is like 10 more things I want to incorporate and that time adds up.... UGH I told myself no more $$ on someone else's templates!!! 🤣

Question - I notice that the templates seem to be taking up a place holder in the inbox under their respective modules. I am incorrect? If not, is it annoying having the templates just hanging and visible around in the system instead of hidden? Thanks!
Hi ! Not quite sure what you mean here. Templates can only be seen under the new button list on a database view. Tasks will go to the inbox when you add a new one, and then filter from the inbox once added to a related project… more guide videos coming very soon now I’ve learnt more about the essentials new users are needing :) thanks, Simon
Any plans to have a more in depth dive into the financial tracker? I tried going through an older video of yours and combined here and am having issues with set up given bi-weekly payments and making it output valuable reports regarding being on budget or not. Loving every other aspect of Life OS!
Thanks for downloading and great to read! :) yes - I have a new video on the financial tracker planned - but it will be a little while off - likely late November. Just been filming videos on notes and knowledge at moment. For bi-weekly recurring payments - you can use a recurring no database template as per recurring tasks instructions. For variable output reports - I have included them for individual items - but until I look at updates on formulas / roll ups for the balance database section of it - it would be best for you to look into creating a report formula there. Sorry not to be more help right here - but need a little time to work on this :) Hope that helps a bit! Thanks! S
I'm trying to integrate features of this life OS into my own workspace, I love what you have done with the yearly summary and planning, I'm wondering how you set up the year report view if I understand it correctly it seems to automatically track your year with the information you put in your habit tracker and other databases, also on your para dashboard how did you for example within the areas gallery view get it to read "1 related project",
ah thank you! great to read. That answer would be quite involved i think to write here! but essentially it uses relations, rollups and then formulas that reference them to create the reports... I would think so - I designed the buttons and pages to be mobile friendly along with the mobile view pages for the dash. Notion’s app will be very similar on android to iOS. :)

What I am trying to figure out is a method of showing a "Tasks completed yesterday" and "Tasks completed this week" view. Is it possible that when a task is marked as complete, the end date can be updated to the current date so it can be used as the filter?
Yes absolutely - duplicate a task view and then change the filters to do this: so probably where do date is yesterday or in the last week and done is checked essentially. Or you could use the new automations for adding a completed date in a new date column that adds ‘NOW’ when the status is changed to complete - video coming out on just that next week! :)

Hi! Yes - use the onboarding button for the first 3 - then you can manually add as many as you like in usual way in a database + you will want to create new tags for goal numbers. The idea of the Notion template really - to be adapted! :)
Is everything covered in this video available in the Second Brain or do I need to buy the Bundle?
Hi! Everything other than the creative OS section is included - so the main thing you wouldn’t get in Notion OS is the system for managing content / client contracts / client portal etc. The bundle / creative OS also has a more robust CRM and integration with the finance tracker - but I have still included a contacts manager and finance tracker in Notion Life OS - they just don’t have the Creative OS integration. Is there a way to enable the recurring tasks to show up automatically instead of at a designated time?
Currently not with Notion unless you use an API extension
Is there a way to add a daily metric such as hours of sleep, readiness score from a fitness tracker, etc. and then review these to notice trends in health/mood over time?
I'm thinking the easiest way is to duplicate the "journal" but every time I do that, it doesn't allow me to make changes to the duplicate without affecting the original.

I am still tweaking your system but I love so many sections and connections you created internally and it is being super helpful, so thank you for all your effort! Quick question, I noticed there's a Decision Maker dashboard reference on the Life OS that you are still working on and have not yet released. I am wondering if you had an ETA for that. Making decisions is something I sometimes struggles. I'd love to try out what you are coming up with.

I ordered the Building a Second Brain book by Tiago Forte yesterday that should arrive tomorrow, I might aswell use this video as inspiration. Tho I see alot of people saying that yeah Notion can do everything Tasks/Notes/Bookmarks/Recipes and basically anything yeah but people are saying that it's not good in any of these things, Yes you can do practically anything but it's not good at any of the things
There’s some truth to this. It’s definitely not the best task manager. There are many better note taking apps, especially for the purpose of a second brain. Notion lacks the advanced linking features of other apps like Obsidian, and I’m fairly sure you can’t even add hashtags to pages in Notion without some kind of database. The search is basic, and you can’t filter results. It’s basically just a search box where you type a word and it gives a location of pages that include that word. Other advanced apps have features like sorting searches by date, category, folders, hashtags, etc. when it comes to storing large amounts of information, it’s fine, but the pages all feel siloed. You end up feeling like everything needs to be in a database (which requires manual upkeep) or you feel like you need to hunt down the specific page you’re looking for.
In other apps, you can discover and link ideas intuitively through backlinking and unlinked references. Notion has page linking, but that’s it. It’s adequate but not a “second brain” in my opinion. Notion is pretty good at most things, but it’s definitely not the best at very many of them.
One other issue with Notion comes to mind. It’s a highly customizable ecosystem that’s basically on its own island. That sounds like a good thing until you look beneath the surface. What happens if you ever want to leave Notion? Your data and pages are all locked into this customized system. It would be a serious pain to export your second brain from Notion. You also have to ask yourself why the template is for Notion rather than say another productivity app. The answer is that there’s no money in selling productivity systems that tell you to go to the App Store and download Todoist to track your tasks. There’s no money in telling you to use a calendar app that comes on your phone to track your events. There’s no money in telling you to use Apple Notes or Day One for journaling. This brings me to my last point about having an all in one system in Notion. As soon as you realize that a task manager app is more efficient and intuitive that 99% of the Notion templates out there, you’re going to begin cheating on your Notion productivity system. Eventually, you’ll stop using it entirely.
As much as I’m hating on Notion, it’s not all bad. This system seems legitimately nice. I really like his work, or I wouldn’t be on this video. My reservations have more to do with the Notion ecosystem than this template.

Yes indeed - integrating a Readwise database is very doable but requires a lot of unlinking and relinking relational databases and re merging in a template like this - so only advisable to people with very good Notion knowledge. I will look at making a guide video in the future :)

when is the creative os available? And it's a little unclear exactly what it adds?
It’s available now in the bundle - I will be creating a full guide video and a stand alone version that will be ready towards the end of April 2023. :) The creative OS adds:
- A content and creative projects database adapts to use as you need think videos, podcasts, client contracts, digital products, etc: this links with the projects database that acts as a channel or umbrella project for the creative OS (ie. RUclips channel to the videos, My Product Business to the products etc)
- a client portal: templated database and pages to share with clients and manage briefs, documents, objectives etc
- beefed up Financial tracker that tracks invoices and expenses related to clients and projects
- a CRM - beefed up contact manager that reports on what creative projects are live for clients, what they owe for invoices, related income and expenditure
- a creative calendar: tracking the publish / completion dates for and creative OS projects (videos/podcasts etc) - great as a content calendar too
- 5 templates for the Creative OS database with a tone of filtered views and guide (the best one is probably the ‘New Video’ template since I use this to run my channel. :)

Bought the template last night. Dumb question (I am new to this stuff): is there a recommended way of dealing with mundane tasks in Life OS? Should I just set up a project for "dull administrative work tasks" and another for "dull administrative life tasks"? I'm thinking of things like replying to an email, buying some milk, that sort of thing. I ask because when I see the list of your projects there doesn't seem to be anything like that in there. Or do you just have a more interesting life than me?
Haha - it’s totally up to you! I only put a few examples in to the template. I’d say set projects for parts of life as you see fit, but for tiny tasks - can often be better to do them quick and not process them into system if that would take longer! Maybe a general life admin project? :)

Hello : I purchased Notion Life OS Bundle on April 11th via your website and not gumroad. I have not received any email to upgrade either. Could you please advise how to upgrade. Being relatively new to Notion (I have my own simple dashboards set up etc) , the template I have is a massive blob of ambiguity. It looks nothing like the organizational views (like quick actions, New note etc). Rather practically there is a list of all dashboards and it starts with " View of Daily Tracker Database (3 pages) View of Tasks Data base, view of Projects Database etc. The "Guidebooks" are similarly inadequate with a couple of lines under screen shots. Could you please help. Maybe I need to upgrade to the newer version. Please direct. What you are selling via your website and what you are displaying in this video tutorial are not the same

Sorry to read you feel the ‘guidebooks’ are inadequate - I’ve tried to keep them as clean and precise as possible - perhaps I need to look again at some edits for the onboarding and instructions for those newer to Notion too. Feedback on specifics very welcome over email! :)

If you are very new to Notion - this is a big template with lots of functionality to get started with - so might feel a little overwhelming to start with. You might also find my ‘simplified notion’ template could be a better option for you also - we can arrange this over email if you feel it would be. :)

Yes - the habit planner set the target and the actual is shown in the year reports. :) there is a more complex update I could make to count in the habit planner AND see the checkboxes in the daily tracker / bullet journal - but I think this combo is the best option. :)

Hi Simon. Love this but I have a question… is there a way to set this up for two users? For example, I want to both myself and my wife to be able to access a lot of the tasks, knowledge, etc, but for us to be able to have our own areas for goals, etc?
Absolutely - whilst life OS is a personal system it easy adapts to sharing. I use it with my editors and VA. tasks have an ‘assignee’ property already. And it would be super easy to add a ‘Person’ column / property to any other databases you wish to share, and even create filtered views by person as a personal home page if you wanted. The main issue would be you would need a paid Notion account to share a workspace / team space together - but the lowest paid plan is plenty. Hope that helps! I use Todoist for tasks - currently I embed that into my Notion. Could I also do that with your pre-built template or would that remove the ability to link tasks throughout the Life OS set up?
Nice idea - I haven’t tried it but there is no reason I can see (other than the questions of subtasks…?) that you can’t. Todoist integration using an api with the task database - people do it. :)

Thanks for the message - the template cones with the matching dark mode covers - so you should simply need to swap out the custom images for the main dashboards using those, and then switch to dark mode - looks good! You could do the same with the database page templates so it all was in dark - shame Notion don’t yet offer dark and light mode image options. :)

This a bit confusing. You start new year plan, put in your vision, goals, milestones etc then you have to reproduce them in the goals and milestones database.
It's meant as an option to do the thinking cleanly without having to worry about the programming. I prefer just writing first. But of course - you can just jump straight to input! :)
