I was 10 y.o when my brother playing this game. I just sit next to him every time and watch. I always prefered to watch instead of playing because it makes more enjoyable when i watch him. He was lung cancer he was on treatment, rare times he was at home, generally at hospital. And i just watch him play this with rubber mask. I mostly played the trial version and the cheeshead was the highest value item you could find or fish up... at over 400k gold when i got the full version it wasnt as fun, because suddenly the cheats worked
I remember as a kid i had the english version of the game. And i didnt speak english back in the days, so i couldnt understand anything of the game. Not even, that i was playing a demo and never could get below level 3 :D so i was fishing a lot to get some of the money to buy one of those really good looking weapons. I once dropped a item that was so much worth :D i was happy for two whole weeks. One year later i got the full version and played the shit out of it :D
This is so nostalgic. Brings me back to 20007, the days of my innocence, back when I was still a mere nine year old living in my own dream bubble, wishing to become a warrior too like the character I was playing as. Back when life seemed a bit more simpler.
My step dad, Sergio Sanchez Lopez, was a beta tester for this game. He was deported 3 years ago, and this song brings back lots of memories when we played this game together when I was around the age of 8 or 9.
i remember i would always be so delighted when that bit at 3:27 came on. i would stop whatever i was doing just to run aimlessly all over the town, my trusty cat Téa(named after my real one, still with me today, though she's getting a bit old now) behind me, frolicking with me the whole way. what a game. so much happiness attached to it. just found my old disc again yesterday, should try it out again.
This is the game that got me started playing PC games. It came preloaded on the computer my sister got for her 9th birthday (which I used for the 11 years until I got my laptop for college, albeit with a few upgrades), and my family was instantly hooked. It didn't run very well on the processor's integrated graphics, so my mom went out and bought a $200 graphics card to put in the system. We played this game for about 5 years, on both sides of a move across the country, and my brother has bought the first sequel. This game is a quintissential dungeon crawler. Over time you level up, get more gear, and go deeper and deeper in the dungeon until you finally can fight the "final boss," on level 60 or so, which is really just a stepping stone on your way further and further into the depths. I had so much time invested in this game, and I can thank it for just as many hours of fun. It was a great time trying to beat my brother and sister to getting as deep as I could go.
oh the memories of me and my aunt playng this game here score was high and she was very good at gaming and she would usually play with me oh how i wish i could bring back those days.
No way!! :) My brothers and I played the poo out of this game! There were those among us that were considered "better" fishers and we would fish for the other brother while they took a bathroom break, if you got a cheesehat BEST EVER! For whatever reason we called Getts the Traveler Bob haha "WITH THESE PRICES, its practically stealing" :,).

I remember getting so mad at that old guy when he was like "Insufficient funds." I remember the Minstrel guy that would make you more famous, the fat guy selling weapons, the stupid goblin guy, the lady that would heal you for free, the Robin Hood wannabe, the ghost guy wandering in that grave place, and so much more. I remember the Yetis, the weird globs of goo that were everywhere, the dragons and drakes. I remember the myth of the legendary Cheese Hat that was supposedly worth thousands of gold too! I remember how I always named my characters and their cats (I usually never had a dog lol) after people from The Last Airbender too :') Do they still have this game on WildTangent Games?!
I remember as a kid i had the english version of the game. And i didnt speak english back in the days, so i couldnt understand anything of the game. Working on full tablature for this right now, I'll have that, sheet music, and more available shortly, along with Behind the Haystack. Although I have to start from scratch for the guitar on Good Morning to Your Nightcap, Behind the Haystack is thankfully much more popular, so I just need to record a session with that one. I think I finished the tabs, recordings on their way.
Most recent comment I’ve seen is 5 years ago. This game brought my practically abandoned brother and I the best of times. This music is both soothing and nostalgic it’s crazy.
I remember watching my brother play this game :) My parents wouldn't let me play a game like this so I had to settle for watching lolz It was fun though. Loved the music obviously.
This burns mi soul, it reminds the of the times when I didn't struggle to enjoy life, it makes me feel really sad and longing. How did the years go by so fast?
Two people died as soon as they went in the dungeon... Or glitched out and couldn't play the game... Or are just plain..... well.... not to be too mean but..........really stupid. So they disliked the song.
Im glad this game is getting the remastered version I actually have the Fate: Awakened (I think that the proper title as I haven't checked in a few weeks) in my Steam Wishlist because this was the first game on pc that I ever played and I was 7 at the time. I still have the original version too and it plays like a dream.
I played this shit for hours as a kid, I remember I got my dad into it and then he said my character was his now because I'd sell something or mess something up, and he had all these cool things. It didn't even make me mad, I knew I'd accidentally do something stupid so I just watched him play, and made my own new character attempting to get what he had.
What song would that be? Cannot remember Skyrim having a song from this game. I remember i used to watch my dad play this. Some of my best days of my life.
the instrumental music in this game is pretty old. the other two non dungeon pieces were written by an Irish harpist from the 17th century, Turlough O'Carolan. it is well within the public domain. it would make sense if multiple games had used this traditional music. it would, however, be a different story if they both used the same recording. with classical/traditional music there are often many different recordings of pieces, and no piece there has really one definitive recording/interpretation. if the two games did use the exact same recording (but altered in the skyrim version slightly) that would be interesting. but either way, it seems Fate is actually in the one in the wrong since according to the video description, they stole this recording from Karen Ashbrook. Skyrim being a huge game from a huge company probably would not illegally use a recording.
@bgodley504 Just happened upon my comment from years ago. That whole part of the comment was stupid. They didn't steal anything they just sound familiar, and you're likely right about the old ass song being fair use and blah blah. Not sure what I was on about, talking out of my ass lol.
