- Before moving forward into 2024, I wanted to look back one more time and review what it was like shooting film photography over the past year. In 2023, I felt the lowest that I ever have creatively and lost my love for visual storytelling on both digital and analog. This video is all about my film failures, favorites, insights, and moments of inspiration that came along the way on my journey back to 35mm film. I lost my soul dog of 14 years last summer and I totally understand the grief period and the need to isolate from the world for a bit. Im in that right now. Wishing you lots of healing 🤍 your baby is beautiful and your new baby is also so beautiful 🤍
I hope you find peace dealing with your grief. I still find myself going back to those feelings sometimes, but more as fond memories rather than despair now. Also wishing you lots of healing!

Have been following you for a few years now and you are mainly the reason I started getting into film and letting my fear go of "not being good enough" as a photographer. Very glad that you are back! I hope 2024 is a heartwarming year for you ღ
I think the most important thing I've realized when it comes to anything creative is that other people may criticize and critique you for "doing ____ wrong", but if you're honestly happy with the turnout, who cares? I don't think art would be art if we all followed the same rules.

I also lost my dog in November of 2022, and I took to heart that I wasn't able to work properly, and had to stay at home and work on something else (making home). So happy to hear you're back! Thank you for the kind words and I'm so sorry for your loss! Though I'm glad to find someone else to relate to; other than Raleigh, it was difficult for me to speak to anyone else about the situation at the time. It was my first ever pet loss as well, so also "new territory". I hope you've been able to manage your grief since then - it still comes in waves for me sometimes, but I think I've transitioned to a place where I'm able to focus on the fond memories.

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes I'm afraid I'm never going to move on, but maybe that's okay? I've come to a place where I just have fond and funny memories of him now. Welcome and thank you for watching! I highly recommend giving film a try if you're lacking in inspiration. It slows down the photography process because you're more intentional with the number of exposures you have to work with, but I also like to see it as capturing a moment in time that can't be recreated in the way that it can with digital. And yes, don't put too much pressure on yourself to come back! Focus on what you're motivated to create and the rest will follow.
