To us, being used to the images of white marble and stone and hearing about them living a couple thousand years before the creation of RUclips, makes them (at least in some people's eyes) like deities, but the reality, they were not. And I think that's part of the reason why I really appreciate these vids!

I'm amazed at how far we've come technologically that we can bring 2000-year-old faces to life and reveal that they were, in fact, as human as you and me. But add now the pivotal decisions and heritage that these characters left behind, and imagine the moment when Nerva took responsability to stabilize governance after Domitian's rule, Trajan departing Rome to Dacia, Hadrian deciding to finally end the push North in Britannia and ordering the building of a massive wall, and Marcus Aurelius facing the effects of the Antonine Plague over the people of Rome. Rome's territory peak was with Trajan , not Hadrian , Hadrian conquered Judea and de-semitize it , made it from Jewish Jerusalem in Judea to Aelia Capitolina , Greek Pagan city with one of the biggest temples to Zeus (Jupiter in Latin) in the world , the province was renamed as Syria Paelestina (That's where the name Palestine comes from). All 3 of them amazing emperors , can never pick a favorite but i like all 3 of them more than Nerva and Antoninus , that i know.

I agree, these reconstructions are way too flattering. You don't find men this attractive that easily. I mean, I don't care for their hairstyle :D, but their face features are all above average.
3 months later, but, please be a little forgiving to the artist, the zillion miniscule details needed to make believable, realistic skin makes it incredibly hard to do. The artist did a good job overall. Maybe just consider that the guys probably came straight from the baths to pose for their statue ;-)

Marcus Aurelius was very handsome, but he was very stoic .... his meditations are in a nice little book and I enjoy reading them. But, Hadrian is the finest.

I think all of them diverge quite a bit from the busts that they show . The most obvious being that the recreations are all much younger looking than the busts, but also many features are softened giving the recreations a more generic look than the ancient portrayals.
well, its a neat thing, but also consider its likely improbable that the sculptors would have made them look bad :P still its worth watching it either way.

Romans and Italians are white that's how you know the color of the skin, and then the ancient Romans besides the statues and faces left written descriptions of their emperors, for example we know that Nero had red hair and blue eyes, Octavian was short, thin and had blond hair, etc ...
The Romans wrote everything they considered important, even about their enemies such as Spartacus or Hannibal, If today we know the stories of Spartacus and Hannibal and why the Romans had the good habit of describing all the important facts in great detail.

Nobody really knows how any of them really looked like - Antinous was from Asia Minor (Greco-Bithynian) though. Bithynians were along with the Thynians are Thracian people who settled into Northwestern Anatolia. From there on, those people were considered "Thraco-Phrygian" - who after becoming a satrapy of the Persian Empire, managed to build their own Kingdom (Kingdom of Bithynia respectively). Before the Persians some Greeks build colonies along the coast of their territory. Under Nicomedes I, the Kingdom grew prosperous. At first, the Kingdom was an ally of the Romans however became a province later, and under Byzantine rule the region became fully assimilated into the greater greco-roman realm.
I do have misgivings about forensic facial reconstruction. Surely they can only ever be speculative, and very much dictated by the creator’s imagination, much as we’d love to believe we are gazing into eyes of people from antiquity. That said I think the reconstruction of Vespasian of the Flavian’s was very good, it did portray a man who as history apparently tells us had a good sense of humour and didn’t take himself too seriously especially when people tried to tell him he was divine.

Romans and Italians are white that's how you know the color of the skin, and then the ancient Romans besides the statues and faces left written descriptions of their emperors, for example we know that Nero had red hair and blue eyes, Octavian was short, thin and had blond hair, etc ...

He didn't look like that. I know someone who does look like him, but -- curiously enough -- doesn't regard himself as good-looking.
Nobody really knows how any of them really looked like - Antinous was from Asia Minor (Greco-Bithynian) though. Bithynians were along with the Thynians are Thracian people who settled into Northwestern Anatolia. From there on, those people were considered "Thraco-Phrygian" - who after becoming a satrapy of the Persian Empire, managed to build their own Kingdom (Kingdom of Bithynia respectively). Before the Persians some Greeks build colonies along the coast of their territory. Under Nicomedes I, the Kingdom grew prosperous. At first, the Kingdom was an ally of the Romans however became a province later, and under Byzantine rule the region became fully assimilated into the greater greco-roman realm.

I do have misgivings about forensic facial reconstruction. Surely they can only ever be speculative, and very much dictated by the creator’s imagination, much as we’d love to believe we are gazing into eyes of people from antiquity. That said I think the reconstruction of Vespasian of the Flavian’s was very good, it did portray a man who as history apparently tells us had a good sense of humour and didn’t take himself too seriously especially when people tried to tell him he was divine.
